  • This paper presents a procedure for the time-scale separation and a design method for the sub-optimal composite regulator and Kalman filter of the large-scale discrete stochastic system with two time-scale properties. Provided that the fast sub-system is asymptotically stable, the reduced-order regulator and Kalman filter for the slow sub-system with dominant modes is designed as a sub-optimal regulator for the system.

  • This paper shows that the solutions to nonlinear perturbed functional differential system $$y^{\prime}=f(t,y)+{\int}^t_{t_0}g(s,y(s),Ty(s))ds+h(t,y(t))$$ have the asymptotic property by imposing conditions on the perturbed part ${\int}^t_{t_0}g(s,y(s),Ty(s))ds,h(t,y(t))$ and on the fundamental matrix of the unperturbed system y' = f(t, y).

  • Using the constructive algorithm proposed by Brayton and Tong, we analyze the stability of a modified coupled-form digital filter with quantization and overflow nonlinearities, and find the regions in the parameter plane where the filter is globally asymptotically stable. In these regions, the absence of zero-input limit cycles is ensured. This constructive algorithm gives less conservative stability results than the application of Jury-Lee stability criterion does.

  • A method to construct a memoryless feedback law for systems with multiple time-delays in the states is proposed. As a plant model, a differential-difference equation with multiple delayed terms is introduced, A stabilizability condition by memoryless feedback is presented. A feedback gain is calculated with a solution of a finite dimensional Riccati equation. It is shown that the resulting closed loop system is asymptotically stable, and moreover, it is a linear quadratic regulator for some cost functional. An alternative stabilizability condition which is easier to check is given.

  • Using the Brayton and Tong's computer-generated Lyapunov functions, we stabilize the multilocomotive train system so that the system is globally asymptotically stable. We decompose an interconnected system into the second order subsystems. Lyapunov functions of the free subystems are constructed using the Brayton and Tong's algorithm. An aggregated test matrix is determined in terms of the qualitative properties of the free subsystems and the interconnecting structures. Stated feedback is used for stabilizing the entire system.

  • New Sufficient conditions for linear time varying systems to be asymptotically stable are presented by using the Lyapunov function approach. One is the generalized version of the previous result, and the other is obtained using the Lyapunov function theorem and matrix properties. Also we compare the presented results with the previous results with the previous results and provide examples to show the usefulness of our results.

  • This paper deals with the disturbance attenuation problem for linear systems with real parametric uncertainties. When there are time invariant parameter uncertainties whose sizes are bounded, a less conservative output feedback controller is constructed such that the closed loop system is asymptotically stable and achieves the prescribed disturbance attenuation level for all allowable parameter uncertainties. In order to demonstrate efficacy of the design method a numerical example is presented.

  • In this paper, we consider a delayed ratio-dependent predator-prey reaction-diffusion system with homogenous Neumann boundary conditions. We study the existence of nonnegative solutions and the stability of the nonnegative equilibria to the system. In particular, we provide a sufficient condition for the positive equilibrium to be globally asymptotically stable.

  • Symmerge is a stable minimum storage merging algorithm that needs $O(m{\log}{\frac{n}{m}})$ element comparisons, where in and n are the sizes of the input sequences with $m{\leq}n$. Hence, according to the lower bound for merging, the algorithm is asymptotically optimal regarding the number of comparisons. The Symmerge algorithm is based on the standard recursive technique of "divide and conquer". The objective of this paper is to consider the relationship between m and n for the degenerated case where the recursion depth reaches m-1.

  • This paper presents a method to enhance tracking performance of an input-constrained bilinear system using MPC (Model Predictive Control) when a feasible tracking control is known. Since the error dynamics induced by the known tracking control is asymptotically stable, there exists a Lyapunov function for the stable error dynamics. By defining a cost function including the Lyapunov function and describing tracking performance, an MPC law is derived. In simulation, the performance of the proposed MPC law is demonstrated by applying it to a converter model.
