  • We consider a multiclass queue where queued customers are served in their order of arrival at a rate which depends on the customer type. By using the asymptotic results obtained by Dabrowski et al. (2006) we calculate the sharp asymptotics of the stationary distribution of the number of customers of each class in the system and the distribution of the number of customers of each class when the total number of customers reaches a high level before emptying. We also obtain a fast simulation algorithm to estimate the overflow probability and compare it with the general simulation and asymptotic results.

  • This paper deals with robust nonparametric regression analysis when the regressors are functional random fields. More precisely, we consider $Z_i=(X_i,Y_i)$, $i{\in}\mathbb{N}^N$ be a $\mathcal{F}{\times}\mathbb{R}$-valued measurable strictly stationary spatial process, where $\mathcal{F}$ is a semi-metric space and we study the spatial interaction of $X_i$ and $Y_i$ via the robust estimation for the regression function. We propose a family of robust nonparametric estimators for regression function based on the kernel method. The main result of this work is the establishment of the asymptotic normality of these estimators, under some general mixing and small ball probability conditions.

  • In this paper we studied the effective approximations to the distribution of the sum of products of normal variables. Based on the saddlepoint approximations to the quadratic forms, the suggested approximations are very accurate and easy to use. Applications to the FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) communication are also considered.

  • For modeling skewed semicircular data, we derive new family of the exponential distributions. We extend it to the l-axial exponential distribution by a transformation for modeling any arc of arbitrary length. It is straightforward to generate samples from the f-axial exponential distribution. Asymptotic result reveals two things. The first is that linear exponential distribution can be used to approximate the l-axial exponential distribution. The second is that the l-axial exponential distribution has the asymptotic memoryless property though it doesn't have strict memoryless property. Some trigonometric moments are also derived in closed forms. Maximum likelihood estimation is adopted to estimate model parameters. Some hypotheses tests and confidence intervals are also developed. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is adopted for goodness of fit test of the l-axial exponential distribution. We finally obtain a bivariate version of two kinds of the l-axial exponential distributions.

  • We investigate a monitoring procedure for the early detection of parameter changes in location-scale time series models. We introduce a detector for monitoring procedure based on modified residual cumulative sum (CUSUM). The asymptotic properties of the monitoring procedure are established under the null and alternative hypotheses. Simulation results and data analysis are also provided for illustration.

  • In order to examine the validity of an asymptotic solution obtained from the method of multiple scales, we investigate a third-order subharmonic resonance response of a bar constrained by a nonlinear spring to a harmonic excitation. The motion of the bar is governed by a linear partial differential equation with a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinear boundary value problem is solved by using the finite difference method. The numerical solution is compared with the asymptotic solution.

  • Inclusion and exclusion is used in many papers to count certain objects exactly or asymptotically. Also it is used to derive the Bonferroni inequalities in probabilistic area [6]. Inclusion and exclusion on finitely many types of properties is first used in R. Meyer [7] in probability form and first used in the paper of McKay, Palmer, Read and Robinson [8] as a form of counting version of inclusion and exclusion on two types of properties. In this paper, we provide a proof for inclusion and exclusion on finitely many types of properties in counting version. As an example, the asymptotic number of general cubic graphs via inclusion and exclusion formula is given for this generalization.

  • The new better than used failure rate (NBUFR), Abouammoh and Ahmed (1988), and new better than average failure rate (NBAFR) Loh (1984) classes of life distributions, have been considered in the literature as natural weakenings of NBU (NWU) property. The paper considers testing exponentiality against strictly NBUFR (NBAFR) alternatives, or their duals, based on goodness of fit approach that is possible in life testing problems and that it results in simpler procedures that are asymptotically equivalent or better than standard ones. They may also have superior finite sample behavior. The asymptotic normality are proved. Powers, Pitman asymptotic efficiency and critical points are computed. Dealing with censored data case also studied. Practical applications of our tests in the medical sciences are present.

  • Dependent models in quality statistics are classified as serially autocorrelated model, multivariate model and dependent sample model. Dependent sample model is most efficient in time and cost to obtain samples among the above models. This paper proposes to implement parametric and nonparametric models into production system depended on demand pattern. Nonparametric models have distribution free and asymptotic distribution free techniques. Quality statistical models are classified into two categories ; the number of dependent sample and the type of data. The type of data consists of nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio data. The number of dependent sample divides into 2 samples and more than 3 samples.

  • The dynamic behaviour of a marine riser was studied theoretically and experimentally. In linear analysis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the riser were obtained from the experiment and they were found to be in good agreement with theoretical results by using a simple asymptotic formula. In nonlinear ananlysis including viscous drag and large displacement, a numerical-perturbation technique based on the derived linear asymptotic solutions is used to predict the displacements and stresses of the riser in harmonic motion. These results were also compared with experimental data and found to be in general in good agreement.
