The analysis of characteristics of turbulent flow and thermal boundary layer for natural convection caused by fire along vertical wall is performed. The 4m-high vertical copper plate is heated and kept at a uniform surface temperature of $60^{\circ}C$ and the surrounding fluid (air) is kept at $16.5^{\circ}C$. The flow and temperature is solved by large eddy simulation(LES) of FDS code(Ver.6), in which the viscous-sublayer flow is calculated by Werner-Wengle wall function. The whole analyzed domain is assumed as turbulent region to apply wall function even through the laminar flow is transient to the turbulent flow between $10^9$<$Gr_z$<$10^{10}$ in experiments. The various grids from $7{\times}7{\times}128$ to $18{\times}18{\times}128$ are applied to investigate the sensitivity of wall function to $x^+$ value in LES simulation. The mean velocity and temperature profiles in the turbulent boundary layer are compared with experimental data by Tsuji & Nagano and the results from other LES simulation in which the viscous-sublayer flow is directly solved with many grids. The relationship between heat transfer rate($Nu_z$) and $Gr_zPr$ is investigated and calculated heat transfer rates are compared with theoretical equation and experimental data.
The operating temperature range of the natural gas pipeline in Arctic environment would be controlled primarily to optimize gas throughput and to minimize the environmental impact resulting from operation of such pipelines. The temperature of the gas as it flows through the pipeline is a function of both the Joule-Thomson effect and the pipe to soil heat transfer. Therefore, the heat transfer and Joule-Thomson effect of the buried natural gas pipeline in this study were carefully considered. Soil temperatures and overall heat transfer coefficients were assumed to be $0{\sim}-20^{\circ}C$ and $0{\sim}5.5W/m^2K$, respectively. The gas temperature and pressure calculations along a pipeline were performed simultaneously at different soil temperatures and overall heat transfer coefficients. Also, this study predicted the phase change and hydrate formation for different soil temperatures and overall heat transfer coefficients using HYSYS simulation package.

For improving the motion accuracy of hydrostatic table, corrective machining algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm consists of three main processes. reverse analysis is performed firstly to estimate rail profile from measured linear and angular motion error, in the algorithm. For the next step, corrective machining information is decided as referring to the estimating rail profile. Finally, motion errors on correctively machined rail are analized by using motion error analysis method proposed in the previous paper. These processes can be iterated until the analized motion errors are satisfied with target accuracy. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm theoretically, motion errors by the estimated rail, after corrective machining, are compared with motion errors by true rail assumed as the measured value. Estimated motion errors show good agreement with assumed values, and it is confirmed that the algorithm is effective to acquire the corrective machining information to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic table.
In this paper, an analytical solution of displacement, strain and stress field for rotating thick-walled cylinder made of functionally graded material subjected to the uniform external magnetic field and thermal field in plane strain state has been studied. Stress, strain and displacement field as a function of radial coordinates considering magneto-thermo-elasticity are derived analytically. According to the Maxwell electro-dynamic equations, Lorentz force in term of displacement is obtained in cylindrical coordinates. Also, symmetric temperature distribution along the thickness of hollow cylinder is obtained by solving Fourier heat transfer equation in cylindrical coordinates. Using equation of equilibrium and thermo-mechanical constitutive equations associated with Lorentz force, a second-order inhomogeneous differential equation in term of displacement is obtained and will be solved analytically. Except Poisson's ratio, other mechanical properties such as elasticity modulus, density, magnetic permeability coefficient, heat conduction coefficient and thermal expansion coefficient are assumed to vary through the thickness according to a power law. In results analysis, non-homogeneity parameter has been chosen arbitrary and inner and outer surface of cylinder are assumed to be rich metal and rich ceramic, respectively. The effect of rotation, thermal, magnetic field and non-homogeneity parameter of functionally graded material which indicates percentages of cylinder's constituents are studied on displacement, Von Mises equivalent stress and Von Mises equivalent strain fields.

For improving the motion accuracy of hydrostatic tables, a corrective machining algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm consists of three main processes. The reverse analysis is performed firstly to estimate the rail profile from the measured linear and angular motion error, in the algorithm. For the next step, the corrective machining information is obtained based upon the estimated rail pronto. Finally, the motion errors on the correctively machined rail are analyzed by using the motion error analysis method. These processes are iterated until the analyzed motion errors are satisfactory within the target accuracy. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm theoretically, the motion errors calculated by the estimated rail after the corrective machining process, are compared with those by the true rail which is previously assumed as the initially measured value. The motion errors calculated using the estimated rail show good agreement with the assumed values, and it is shown that the algorithm is effective in acquiring the corrective machining information to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic tables.
The present paper deals with the analytical solution of a functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) cylinder in the magnetic field under mechanical, thermal and electrical loads. All mechanical, thermal and electrical properties except Poisson ratio can be varied continuously and gradually along the thickness direction of the cylinder based on a power function. The cylinder is assumed to be axisymmetric. Steady state heat transfer equation is solved by considering the appropriate boundary conditions. Using Maxwell electro dynamic equation and assumed magnetic field along the axis of the cylinder, Lorentz's force due to magnetic field is evaluated for non homogenous state. This force can be employed as a body force in the equilibrium equation. Equilibrium and Maxwell equations are two fundamental equations for analysis of the problem. Comprehensive solution of Maxwell equation is considered in the present paper for general states of non homogeneity. Solution of governing equations may be obtained using solution of the characteristic equation of the system. Achieved results indicate that with increasing the non homogenous index, different mechanical and electrical components present different behaviors along the thickness direction. FGP can control the distribution of the mechanical and electrical components in various structures with good precision. For intelligent properties of functionally graded piezoelectric materials, these materials can be used as an actuator, sensor or a component of piezo motor in electromechanical systems.

In this paper, a simplified type of adaptive controller using Nussbaum gain for the control of the spacecrapt with elastic appendages is suggested. This method doesn't need the information of the high frequency components in transfer function. While the pitch angle tracks the desired value by this method, the elastic modes are also stabilized. Only pitch angle and the pitch rate are used for the design of the output feedback controller. Especially all system parameters and the high frequency gain are assumed to be unknown. For design simplicity, a controller is designed by using only the linear part, and it's shown to satisfy the nonlinear system by the simulation with basic explanations. By using the Lyapunov function, the stability of the suggested algorithm is demonstrated, and also the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm is verified by showing the computer simulation results.
Eight female Himalayan tahrs (Hemitragus jemlahicus) were estrus-synchronized, and transcervically inseminated with frozen-thawed semen in September, 2009, about 2 to 3 months earlier than their natural breeding season. Intravaginal progesterone-releasing devices were inserted into vaginas of six Himalayan tahrs on September 7, and the other two on September 8 to suppress luteal function of ovaries. The devices had been placed deep inside the vagina prior to withdrawal on September 23. A day before CIDR removal, a combination of PMSG 400 IU and hCG 200 IU was intramuscularly injected. Forty hours later, frozen-thawed semen was transcervically inseminated. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed 39 days later by analyzing progesterone level of serum. Every treatment was done under anesthesia inducted by xylazine injection. In conclusion, vaginal discharge of cervical mucus, hormonal changes induced by implant-typed or muscularly injectable hormones and widening of cervix enough to insert an insemination gun into uterine body were achieved in non-breeding season. Moreover, the first inseminated Himalayan tahr, 36 hours after CIDR removal was assumed to be pregnant but the fetus may have been lost due to the use of anesthetic drug.

An analysis of radiative heat transfer has been conducted on axisymmetric finite cylindrical media. It is assumed that the temperature in the media is uniformly distributed and the boundaries are diffusely emitting and reflecting at a constant temperature. The scattering phase function is represented by the delta-Eddington approximation to account for highly forward scattering by particulates just as in the combustion system. Exact numerical solutions are obtained by Gaussian quadrature method and compared with P-1 and P-3 approximation solutions to verify their engineering application limit. The effects of optical thickness, scattering albedo, wall emissivity and aspect ratio are investigated. The results show that P-3 approximation is found to be in good agreement with the exact solution.

A decision procedure to determine when computer software should be released after testing is described. This paper extends optimum release policies minimizing the total expected software cost with a scheduled software delivery time under reliability requirement constraint. Such cost considerations enable us to make a release decision as to when transfer a software system from testing phase to operational phase. The underlying model is software reliability growth model described by a nonhomogeneous poisson process. It is assumed that the penalty cost function due to delay for a scheduled software delivery time is linearly proportional to time. Numerical examples are shown to illustrate the results.
