  • Korea's quarantine response to the novel coronavirus (coronavirus disease 2019 [COVID-19]) pandemic is based on the sacrifice of health professionals, especially public health doctors (PHDs) who were called out first and put in the first place in the country. PHDs performed major quarantine tasks, such as collecting samples from screening clinics and epidemiological investigations, in various parts of the country, including the Daegu area, where the first large-scale COVID-19 confirmed cases in Korea and explosively increased. Because of their position as fixed-term civil servants, however, PHDs' professionalism as doctors was ignored, and they were not properly compensated for their work. They were also exposed to problems such as a high risk of infection, mental suffering, and various human rights violations. We must prepare concrete measures to improve the fundamental treatment of PHDs and protect their human rights in order to prepare for a possible infectious disease pandemic in the future.

  • The aim of this paper is analyzing the economic outcome of development aid project on closed mine and submitting the policy alternatives to seek for substitute industries which lead independent growth of that area. Despite the aid project deployed from 2001 to 2010, the economic result appears to be fragile. It is obvious that the contents and magnitude of aid projects has its own limitation to build independent economic structure in closed mine area. Conclusively, to overcome the regional restrictions, it is important to establish the aid project scheme to make a strategic and systematic resource distribution under the regional circumstances.

  • This study focuses on the regeneration of multi-dwelling residential estates located already in built-up areas. This study focuses on policy measures and surveys of remodeling and analyses the likelihood of remodeling and prospect of it. These major findings were diseased: First, people have changed their propensity about renewing their residences from reconstruction to remodeling. This would account for the likelihood of remodeling and its popularity. Second, unlike the stronger demand for remodeling, over half of people respond express that they are reluctant to pay the costs involved in renewing the public spaces of their apartment complexes. This argues that it would be necessary to review policy measures in other countries. Reducing financial burdens of those who are willing to remodel their residents and to trigger their participations. In addition, the costs should be saved from the outset of constructing new buildings. With the suggestions drawn in this study, the remodeling should be regarded as a considerable measure to renew the residential areas, especially where the area is already built-up and the development density is severely limited.

  • Increasing interest in family problems caused by social environment changes has elevated the importance of strong family policy. That is why Framework Act on Healthy Families has enacted in 2004 in Korea and it marked the 10th anniversary of establishing the law. This study finds out the meaning of enacting the law and an academic field of Family Resource Management through reviewing and analyzing the studies on the healthy families from 2000 to 2013 year in Journal of Korean Family Resource Management Association. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, we divide research themes into three parts: policy, practice(I)(center management), practice(II)(program development & efficiency), specialist area. The research trends have most focused on the issue of practice(II), that is, program analysis and development, contents review, because of the settlement of delivery system after the early of law establishment. But it is needed to rethink research themes because it has been dealt with not academical researches on theoretical basis but practical ones, for example, program development on Healthy Families Center and the tendency still lasts until now. Second, more than half of research methods have been concentrated on contents analysis and about 70% of research objects are focused on the center program. It needs to adopt various research methods and research objects. Lastly, it is necessary to make an academic identity clear that can be faithful to Family Resource Management Studies.
