The architectural design process is consisted of the phase of programming and the phase of the design. The contemporary architectural scheme, as a datascape, a rhizome structure and a diagram, is based on the concept of modern physics. And it is applied on the phase of design by synthesizing data. Like this, the design of the architectural field is accomplished in the phase of design. For design of the architectural field, the characteristics of the architectural field is considered as the viewpoint of design in the procedure. First, according to the area which is defined by relations of environments, around architectures and so on, the net system of relations is designed as area. Second, design the linkage between building and space, building and building, space and space, according to the correspondence each other. Third, design the method or form of connecting building and space to one as a building and a space are no longer divided but are understood by one. As a result, for the design of architectural field, it is necessary to define the criteria by the characteristics of architectural field and the architectural field is designed by process.

The architectural design methodology had been changed under control of Modern life. At that time, architectural design education was formed directly by modern architects for their professional characteristics, introducing the architectural design education to our college education of architecture on various sides. The purpose of this study is to explore the formation of architectural design education and its origin meaning on the basis of subjects and learning factors in the institute of architectural design education. The spacial subjects and learning factors can be studied in the aspect of process and method that molds architectural design education. As a result of this study, two properties in the architectural design education were revealed. One property is creation that was revealed by Ecoles des Beaux-Arts' architectural design education. Another property is that rationality that was revealed by in Ecole Polytecnique's architectural design education.

Knowledge-based Service Industry is an industry that creates added value through the production, processing, and use of knowledge. Comparing to other service industries, it is innovation-oriented business endeavors having the characteristics that exert the great influences on other fields. Meanwhile, however, research efforts thereof are yet insignificant. In this study, we analyzed the innovation performance of architectural design office which creates knowledge services, having raised the necessity of innovation of the design office. The innovation performance were classified according to the extent of efficiency of the architectural design office making use of DEA-Tier analysis, and, for those architectural design offices that showed significant differences in efficiency, we presented the case studies of the firms that were substantial benchmarking targets from short, medium, and long-term perspectives.

A bubble diagram is understood as a graphic medium which bridges program and plan in architectural design process. The role of a bubble diagram is either to generate or to explain a plan in relation to its program. Despite the explicit role of a bubble diagram in architectural design process, what a bubble diagram indicates exactly is very ambiguous. Here I attempt to reveal the nature of the bubble diagram more sharply. My main argument is that the ambiguity of a bubble diagram results from the fact that it is used to range two different types of representational formats. Reviewing the theories of shape recognition and shape representations in vision science, I will also argue that the procedural description of architectural design process should be criticized and that the focus of design method research has to be shifted into the representational format of form description in architectural design process.

It is an obstacle to improve living environments that an acute angle architectural design is often seen. Though that design give a stress to the neighborhood, we can't prevent the design taking place. We must control architectural design, because it is important to public worth and urban aesthetic. To prevent selfish architectural design, it is recommend to extend design review and reflect neighborhood opinions.

Recently the architectural paradigm have been changing into eco-friendly architecture as an sustainable architecture. This social background encourages the development of various methods of building applicable for eco-friendly buildings in architectural design. Among them, passive architecture is an design approach for eco-friendly design that contrasts with technology-based methods through MEP for renewable energy. This study researches the Passive Architectural Design methodology with two points of view; Passive Architectural Design Techniques as a guideline, which defines the elements to consider for passive architecture, and the project of Sejong Municipal Public Library as a case, which is to analysis the architectural design process. The purpose of this study is to propose an eco-friendly public building based on the methodology which is suitable for passive architectural design. Finally, this study suggests that the eco-friendly public building design for passive architecture should consider from the early step of design process, such as concept and building form etc. What is important for the passive architecture is not how much building can produce the natural energy but how less building consumes it to maintain.

Throughout the history of architecture, sometimes the main focus of design was determined by a particular visual representation method, and other times a particular form of visual representation method was required by perception of a particular architectural issue or an architectural form or idea. That is why the visual representation method of architects becomes an important means of reading the flow of idea and thinking behind architecture. This study is an investigation on the relation between architectural thinking and visual representation method expressed through the conceptual drawings by avant-garde architects of the 1970s and 80s, a period of the emergence of postmodernism. Rather than proving the objective reality regarded important by traditional architectural drawing, attempts are made to express the design concept in which the project has its base. Such interpretation and explanation regarding the concept become the main interest of the drawing. It is not that the architecture itself was not expressed in the contents, but it may not be the main subject of expression in the drawing. The value of architectural drawing recovers its value as an art work in itself, as a means of communication, and as an important conceptual tool in the design process. It can be seen that the visual representation method in postmodern architectural drawings is breaking free of the traditional objective depiction of matter and is changing and developing as a design tool of the architect.

In modem days when architectural materials have grave impacts on overall design expression, materials for architecture, especially finishing materials have become the most essential elements for the design expression, as architectural space and form have been. This study closely verifies the concept of tensity analyzed in preceding studies by quantifying it through experimentation and questionnaire, and suggests possible alternatives which verified concept of tensity applies into the architectural design. It was examined how architects consider the finishing materials through a questionnaire. With a questionnaire, the possibility of quantificative analysis for tensity is evaluated by SPSS program. Moreover, a questionnaire about the social image that the architectural finishing materials have was also conducted. This questionnaire results In the actual methods to apply quantificated psychological tensity and social images into the architectural design and recommends better plan to select finishing materials for each spacial function and usage, Due to the great influence of social images in design expression, the application mechanism of the tensity should follow the general and individual principles together. With the tensity figure and application of social images we can find more resonable method for material selection.

Computerized visual database construction of architectural precedents has just begun in some research institutes in the world. In Korea the first visual database has shown its testl version by S architectural design firm in september 1996. In this article the author discusses the historical contexts and the recent computerization cases, the traits, the uses and the limits of architectural visual database system of precedents. The forms and contents of data fields in two cases are compared with a focus on the description of architectural traits of each data entry. Compared to the KIA format, the S database has better performance for architectural design reference because it collects more pictures and drawings and larger texts for the field of architectural chracteristics. But this latter also is constrained by its capacity of memory and so lacks the reciprocity of the DOORS in the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. A visual database system which has more flexible allocation of memory and respondent with the users is yet to be prepared. But this system also should be maintained by some experts in architectural history, theory and criticism, because their knowledge is essential for selection of precedents and revision of the data description. A full-fledged electronic visual database in architecture will not only save much effort for the architect, but also will change the architects' design behavior. Nevertheless this does not mean the automatic promotion of architects' creativity.

The concept of the Metaverse has been around not only for play but also for daily use. The interest in Metaverse is increasing, and various industries such as medicine, media, and financial started to use the new technology for diverse purposes. In addition, interest in the Metaverse is increasing in the architectural industry, but not much research has been done yet. Recently, some studies started to study focusing on the architectural design of Metaverse and the technological characteristics of Metaverse. However, there are limited studies about the utilization of the Metaverse in the architectural design process or construction process. From this perspective, the study aims to analyze the applicability of the Metaverse in the architectural design process through Metaverse case studies. In order to accomplish the research goal, the study classified user experience and technology of Metaverse in the literature review and Metaverse use in other industries such as commercial, medical, media entertainment, and construction industry. Then, this study analyzes six representative Metaverse platforms according to the application of Metaverse in the architectural design process. Finally, this study discussed the future direction and potential of Metaverse application in the Architectural design process.
