Reclamation of Inorganic wastes to Artificial Lightweight Aggregates

  • Annually, Taiwan generates approximately 2 million tons of inorganic wastes in the form of sludge, fly ash and slug. To increase the added value of waste and maintain the increasingly insufficient supply of natural gravel, large public construction projects account for this large demand each year. future architectural trends are leading towards high-rise buildings. In light of the above, Center for Environmental, Safety and Health Technology Development, Industrial Technology Research Institute has developed the technology of manufacturing cold-bonding, sintering and bloating types of lightweight aggregates with a specific gravity ranging between 0.7~1.7, water absorption rate < 30%. The lightweight aggregate verified by physical property tests can be used as a substitute for the natural aggregate, which generally appears in replacing gravel in concrete, soundproofing and heat insulation materials. Doing so would not only moderate waste disposal problems, but also achieve the goal of resource recovery.

  • The objectives of this study are understanding on the type and the characteristic of the architecture in the saltern. At result, there are warehouse of the salt, residence of salt man and office building. These architectures are clearly different from Korean traditional architecture and constructed in special area (a saltern), on special purpose. These are not excellent architectural form, but materials and forms of these architectures are reasonably suitable for the regional characteristic and the function. Today, the architecture in the saltern, are gradually disappear, therefore the researches and the memories are meaningful in this study.

  • This study is to find mental element and principle for building as the side of tranditional ideas and to understand dwelling from and style by this wag. So we can understand yang taeg theory as a part of feng shui that controls the mental, field of traditional architecture. The results may besummarised as follows. 1. Mentalprinciple of traditional architecfure being understood as a "역" is to result is not the concept of shape as materials and in but that of phase as a spririt. 2. In yang taeg theory, architectural behavior (as selecting site, building and the day for building) is made form the base of that, a human being as a part of universe. 3. Geomantic aspect, to being, laid in an fying a human being and nature as spatial, time concept. 4. The concept of domain in feng-shui is found in village as well as in house.

친환경 건축에서 나타나는 랜드스케이프 건축 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of 'Landscape Architecture' in Environment-Friendly Architecture)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze environmental-friendly design features in landscape architecture. The process of the study first started theoretical research of 'Environmental-friendly' and 'Landscape', then extracted primary conceptual elements that based on ecological background, and analyze 20 cases, from 1990 to now, based on elements that extracted. Summarizing about environment-friendly feature in landscape architecture of Form, Space, Energy Management is as following. First, In the formal aspect, Landscape architecture tend to harmonize with surrounding environment through horizontal, vertical continuity that is realized to transform artificial plate. Second, In the spatial aspect, Landscape architectural space has flexible feature. It is expression through methods blur boundary between outside and inside, lead to change and experience by time, indeterminacy of program. Third, In the energy management aspect, the introduction of effective energy system increase environmental features in space through technical application and environmental-friendly materials.

Corrosion Resistance of Cr-Bearing Rebar to Macrocell Corrosion Environment Induced by Localized Carbonation

  • Artificial cracks were made in the cover concrete of specimens embedding ten types of steel rebars of different Cr contents. The research aims for developing Cr-bearing steel rebars resistant to macrocell corrosion environments induced by cracking in cover concrete. The cracks were subjected to intensive penetration of carbon dioxide (carbonation specimens) to form macrocells. The carbonation specimens were then treated with accelerated corrosion curing, during which current macrocell corrosion density was measured. The corrosion area and loss from corrosion were also measured at the end of 105 cycles of this accelerated curing. The results of the study showed that Cr-bearing steel with Cr content of 5% or more suppressed corrosion in a macrocell corrosion environment induced by the differences in the pH values due to carbonation of cracked parts. Cr-bearing steels with Cr content of 7% or more are proven to possess excellent corrosion resistance.

제주건축물의 지역별 및 외피디자인 요소별 특징에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Research on Regional Characteristics and Design Factors of Buildings Skin in Jeju Province)

  • Jeju Special Self-Governing Province are trying every effort to be presented as an International Free City with unique combination of history, culture and landscape, This research focuses on the analysis of characteristics we can find in buildings in Jeju province. The main purpose is to provide basic and informative materials for the landscape formation of Jeju by investigating current status of buildings in Jeju province. This research divides Jeju province into 34 areas and categorizes buildings by use. 2,973 cases in total are collected and analyzed their architectural features. A basic analysis of the collected data is conducted in the first and the second stages. And In the third stage, 505 cases whose addresses can be identified are selected for the in-depth analysis of the registered building data on architecture year, building area, and total area. These data are analyzed by the categories of region, year, and size for the study of general characteristics of buildings in Jeju. The results show that territoriality is weak because of the simplicity of building layout on the streets. Exterior form of buildings, streetscape image, and overall city image are tedious and boring because of the lack of the variety of facade and exterior finishing materials.

초등학교 실내공간 디자인의 환경친화적 특성에 관한 연구 - 부산시와 오사카시 초등학교 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the ecological design elements of elementary school interior - Focused on the elementary schools of Osaka, Japan and Busan, Korea -)

  • This study explored how the elementary schools provided proper interior environments to the students in terms of ecological aspects. 14 cases-7 in Busan and 7 in Osaka which were newly built or remodelled since 2000 were selected. These schools were analyzed based on the eco-school guideline suggested In the former study. The guideline categorizes into three parts: 1) energy efficiency related with lighting, ventilation, heating and insulation, 2) greening, 3) sustainability including recycling water system and use of environmentally friendly materials. The results showed that Korean schools require more systematic planning for natural lighting, ventilation, Insulation, greening and new water system while Japanese schools need use of environmentally friendly materials and consideration for natural lighting, insulation and interior greening. Especially, natural lighting and natural ventilation through roof window, atrium, wind tower and use of natural insulation and blind window system should be basically considered at the Initial planning. Also, this study reveals that ecological approach including greening and natural lighting with various architectural form should be applied in future elementary school design to make the school environment more agreeable and economical.

단열재 조합에 의한 한중콘크리트용 거푸집 개발 (Development of Forms for Cold Weather Concrete by Combination of Insulation)

  • 본 연구는 한중콘크리트 시공 시 초기보온 대책 중 가장 손쉽고 경제적일 것으로 사료되는 단열 보온양생을 대상으로 하였다. 실험은 한중콘크리트 시공조건을 상정하여 기존 거푸집과 각종 단열재 조합에 따른 단열거푸집간의 온도이력을 검토하여 효율적인 단열거푸집을 개발하고자 하였다. 실험결과 $-10^{\circ}C$ 일정인 외기온도 조건에서 벽용 거푸집의 경우, 일반 유로폼인 경우는 초기 24시간 이전에 급속한 온도저하에 의해 $0^{\circ}C$ 이하로 약 7시간 정도 지속되었고, PP+스티로폼+합판인 경우는 영상의 온도를 유지하고, 강도발현도 우수하며, 단열거푸집간 비교적 가격도 저렴하여 우수한 단열거푸집임이 밝혀졌다. 슬래브용 거푸집 실험의 경우, 하부는 단열거푸집으로 고정하고, 콘크리트 표면 양생방법을 달리하였을 때, 콘크리트의 온도이력을 측정한 결과, 노출시킨 경우 약 10시간 이후부터 영하로 저하하였고, 비닐+양생포의 경우 약 42시간 이후부터 영하로 저하하였다. 반면, 비닐+스티로폼+양생포를 사용한 양생의 경우에는 약 55시간 이후부터 영하로 저하하여 노출이나 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 비닐+양생포와 비교하여 우수한 단열효과임이 밝혀졌다. 7일 및 28일에 있어 슬래브의 코어 압축강도를 측정한 결과는 단열재를 사용하였을 때 크게 나타났다.

콘크리트 미관창출과 열화저감을 위한 3D프린팅 폼라이너 디자인 연구 (Design Study of 3D printing Form Liner for Aesthetic and Protective Concrete Surfacing)

  • 현대에 들어서 건축물의 외관 디자인에 대한 관심이 커짐에 따라 기존의 획일화된 건축물이 아닌 다양한 미관의 건축물에 대한 니즈가 증가하고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 미관창출을 위한 국내의 폼 라이너 재료 및 디자인은 한정되어 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 3D프린터를 활용하여 기존의 값비싼 몰드 제작과정을 생략하고 디지털 데이터를 이용하여 입체구조의 제품을 다양한 소재를 사용하여 경제적으로 제작, 콘크리트의 열화방지 수단을 겸비하고 구조물의 수명을 연장시켜 생애주기비용을 절감하는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구는 3D 프린터를 활용하여 콘크리트 구조물의 위치, 주변 환경, 용도에 적합한 폼 라이너의 미관 및 입체조형 디자인을 다양하게 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 3D 프린트를 활용한 실물 출력 실험을 통해 3D프린터를 활용한 콘크리트 폼 라이너가 실제 적용이 가능하다는 가능성을 확인하였으며, 콘크리트 구조물의 용도, 지역특성, 주변 환경, 사용자 등을 고려하여 입체적이며 예술적인 조형미관을 위한 폼 라이너 디자인을 제안하였다.

Analysis of extended end plate connection equipped with SMA bolts using component method

  • Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) are new materials used in various fields of science and engineering, one of which is civil engineering. Owing to their distinguished capabilities such as super elasticity, energy dissipation, and tolerating cyclic deformations, these materials have been of interest to engineers. On the other hand, the connections of a steel structure are of paramount importance because of their vulnerabilities during an earthquake. Therefore, it is indispensable to find approaches to augment the efficiency and safety of the connection. This research investigates the behavior of steel connections with extended end plates equipped hybridly with 8 rows of high strength bolts as well as Nitinol superelastic SMA bolts. The connections are studied using component method in dual form. In this method, the components affecting the connections behavior, such as beam flange, beam web, column web, extended end plate, and bolts are considered as parallel and series springs according to the Euro-Code3. Then, the nonlinear force- displacement response of the connection is presented in the form of moment-rotation curve. The results obtained from this survey demonstrate that the connection has ductility, in addition to its high strength, due to high ductility of SMA bolts.
