  • Morphological changes in eggs and larvae of spotted knifejaw, Oplegnathus punctatus were observed by cultivation of fertilized eggs to juvenile stage. Fertilized egg was demersal and transparent. The egg has one oil glouble and its size ranged 1.01~1.15 mm ($1.08{\pm}0.10mm$; $mean{\pm}SD$, n=20). Culture chambers were maintained $22.5{\sim}24.5^{\circ}C$ in water temperature and 33.5~34.5ppt in salinity. It took 25 mins from fertilization to the blastoderm stage, 55 mins to 2 cell stage and 20 hrs 50 mins to hatching. Newly hatched yolksac larvae ranged 2.59~3.02 mm ($2.81{\pm}0.25mm$, n=5) in total length, and mouth and anus were not still open. Yolk and oil globule were absorbed 2 days after hatching (DAH). Flexion larvae in 12 DAH ranged 3.02~3.07 mm TL ($3.04{\pm}0.04mm$), and the caudal fin grew to fan-shaped, melanophores appeared on top of digestive canal.

  • This research is about spawning behavior and morphological development of the eggs and larvae of fringed blenny which lives in Korean sea. It helps to find out the relation between fringed blenny larvae and other stichaeidae larva. Moreover, it is going to use for the basic data of taxonomical research. There were 8 mother fishes (total length 31.8~34.0 cm, average $32.9{\pm}0.21cm$), which were captured from the cost of Sindeok-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do from December, 2010. we used trap to capture them. Mother fishes were brought to glass aquarium ($50{\times}30{\times}35cm$) and nurtured with recirculate rearing system. Breeding water temperature was $12.3{\sim}15.8^{\circ}C$ (average $14.1{\pm}2.47$) and salinity was 32.5~33.5‰ (average $33.0{\pm}0.05$‰). fertilized egg was round, opaque demersal egg. The size was 1.81~2.19 mm (average $2.00{\pm}0.27mm$, n=50). Incubation was begun after 271 hours and 30 minutes from fertilization. It started with piercing the egg membrane. prelarvae had length of 8.45~8.84 mm (average $8.65{\pm}0.28mm$, n=5) right after the incubation, and both mouth and anus were opened. After 11 days from the incubation, postlarvae had length of 10.5~11.3 mm (average $10.9{\pm}0.57mm$), and the number of myotomes was increased to 66.

  • The eggs of Luciogobius grandis attached beneath the small stone were collected at Ocheon-dong, Yeosu-city from February to May, 2006. We carried them to the laboratory of Chonnam National University to investigate their development. The fertilized eggs were elliptical in shape (mean long axis: $2.06{\pm}0.23\;mm$; mean short axis: $0.74{\pm}0.04\;mm$) and transparent. There were filaments on the egg membrane. Their hatching was occurred at 120hrs 54mins after the morula stage at $18.4{\sim}21.0^{\circ}C$ (mean $19.4^{\circ}C$). The newly hatched larvae were $3.30{\pm}0.07\;mm$ (n=30) in total length (TL), with $34{\sim}36$ myotomes, and their mouth and auns were already open. Their melanophores were appeared over the gas globule, around the anus and a part of caudal peduncle. At 9 days after hatching, the larvae was $5.06{\pm}0.18\;mm$ (n=30) in TL and transformed to postlarval stage with yolk absorption. At 29 days after hatching, the larvae attained full fin ray count and reached the juvenile stage with $11.46{\pm}0.12\;mm$ (n=30) in TL.

  • In order to monitor the developmental features of embryos, larvae, and juveniles of chub mackerel, Scomber japonicus, the fertilized eggs were obtained by artificial insemination. The fertilized eggs were spherical in shape and floated separately. Their membrane and yolk having 1 oil globule were transparent. The transparent eggs, having one oil drop in the yolk, were $0.94{\sim}1.02\;mm$ (mean, $0.95{\pm}0.03\;mm$) in diameter. The fertilized eggs started hatching at 51 hrs after fertilization in $20{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ water. The total length of the hatched larvae was $2.52{\sim}3.0\;mm$ (mean, $2.75{\pm}0.04\;mm$). At hatching, the larva, with the mouth and anus not opened yet, had yolk sack, $28{\sim}31$ myomeres and eyes with melanophore. Yolk completely 2 days after hatching and the total length of post-larvae $3.12{\sim}3.63\;mm$ (mean, $3.39{\pm}0.05\;mm$). At the 18 days after hatching, the tip of tail became curved at the end and the stems for pectoral, dorsal, and caudal fins appeared. Juveniles, having all firm rays, was $44.12{\sim}58.72\;mm$ (mean $55.95{\pm}6.74\;mm$) in TL 25 days after hatching.

  • Anatomical and histological observations were used to examine the morphological differentiation and development of the digestive tract during ontogenesis in tiger puffer, Taklyugu rubripes. Before hatching, the digestive tract was located between yolk sac and notochord of embryo. Newly hatched larvae had a straight tubular digestive tract. The larval mouth opened at 2 days after hatching (DAH). At 4 DAH, sphincters separated the digestive tract into the esophagus, anterior intestine, mid-intestine and rectum, and the anus was opened. At 5 DAH, the larval intestine bent between the anterior and intermediate parts and mucous cells developed in the esophageal epithelium. At this time yolk sac was absorbed completely. At 6 DAM, the digestive tract was differentiated into the U type with expansion of the anterior intestine toward the head of the larvae. At 10 DAH, the expanding anterior intestine became wider and a elliptical. At 15 DAH, the anterior intestine was divided into two portions by invagination of dorsal epithelium and the mid-intestine was convoluted dorsally. At 21 DAM, the frontal portion of the anterior intestine formed a differentiated expansion sac. At 24 DAH, the second convolution was observed in the anterior part of the posterior intestine. At 30 DAH the expansion sac was extended longitudinally and the digestive tract took on the form seen in adult fish.

Age composition of the subjects was 136 males(57.6%) in the age of 20$\sim$29 and 28 females(68.3%) in the age of 20$\sim$24. As for working places, 215 males(91.1%) and 38 females (92.7%) were working for dental laboratories and rest of them were at clinics and hospitals. In working years, male technicians who have been working for 5$\sim$10 years amounted to 80 (33.8%) and 12 females(29.3%) were working for 1$\sim$3years. 2. Responses to psychosomatic subjective symptom complaints rated as the highest in multiple subjective symptom(males : 40.00%, females : 41.98%) and those in physical items and mental irritability(male : 24%, female : 25%) and in mental items came next in order. The rate of complaint in depression was higher in female group than in male group (p<0.05). 3. Resonses to psychosomatic subjective symptom complaints in male group were high in the age of 20$\sim$29 and in the age of 20$\sim$24 in female group. The rates of complaint were higher in multiple subjective symptom, respiratory, eye and skin(p<0.05) and digestives(p<0.01) complaints. 4. Responses to psychosomatic subjective symptom complaints were higher among persons working at dental laboratories than at other working places : dental clinics and hospitals in all the items except for respiratory, depression and aggressiveness. Rates of complaints in eye and skin showed significant difference between working places(p<0.05). 5. Those who are engaged in polishing part tended to complain more about psychosomatic subjective symptoms. 6. The higher the level of education is the more they complained the psychosomatic subjective symptoms both in male and female group. In the difference of complaint respones, male group showed high rates of complaint in depression and female group in aggressiveness(p<0.05). 7. Responses to psychosomatic complaints by the length of working service were moderate in males who were working less than 10 years, and they decreased after 10 years of service. Females showed the highest response rate in the group of 3$\sim$5 years service and the lowest response in the group of 5 years service. Male complained more in aggressiveness and female in respiratory and aggressiveness(p<0.05). 8. Responses to psychosomatic subjective symptom complaint varied according to working hours of a day both in male and female group, showing high complaint rates in multiple subjective symptom, respiratory, eye and skin, mouth and anus, digestive, mental irritability and irregular life in male group(p<0.05).

  • In November 2019 a 5-month-old mixed-breed rabbit presented to Chungbuk National University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Cheongju-si, Chungbuk, Republic of Korea (Korea) with symptoms comprising pruritus, crusts on skin, poor appetite and reduced defecation. The rabbit was purchased 2 months prior from a pet shop located in a big market, and that the symptoms were first observed about 2 weeks prior to the hospital visit. Physical examination revealed that the patient had crust formation and alopecia on the nose together with lesions on the digits. A skin scraping test was performed using mineral oil and a high density of mites was observed by microscopy. Each mite showed a round, tortoiselike body with 4 comparatively short pairs of legs. The anus was located at the terminal unlike with suspected pathogen, Notoedres cati. Based on morphological characteristics, we identified the mite as Sarcoptes sp. Ivermectin was administered weekly by subcutaneous injection at a dosage of 0.4 mg/kg, and 4 weeks of follow-up study revealed the patient was fully recovered. And no more mites were detected from the case. This is the first case report of sarcoptic mange in a pet rabbit in Korea.
