Recently, there have been many researches which can achieve high data rate in multi-user massive MIMO networks while reducing the complexity in terms of both hardware and algorithm. In addition, many researches have been conduced to reduce the energy consumption in next generation mobile communication networks. In this paper, we thus investigated new transmit antenna selection scheme to achieve low computational complexity and enhance energy efficiency in multi-user massive MIMO networks. First, we introduced the optimal scheme based on Brute-Force searching to maximize the energy efficiency and then proposed new antenna selection scheme to dramatically reduce the computational complexity compared to the optimal scheme. As the number of transmit antennas increases, the complexity of the optimal scheme exponentially increases while the complexity of the proposed scheme linearly increases. Nevertheless, the energy efficiency performance gap between proposed and optimal schemes is not huge.

Massive MIMO communication system with huge antennas has been attracting intensive attention as one of key technologies to increase the spectral efficiency. Many previous studies investigated single user Massive MIMO scheme in cellular downlink. Recently, however, intensive researches on multiuser-based Massive MIMO are performed to overcome the problem caused by the limited number of antennas in mobile stations. Although the Massive MIMO scheme based on huge number of antennas inevitably causes hardware and computational complexity in baseband and radio frequency (RF) elements, the problem can be mitigated without serious performance degradation by limiting the number of baseband and RF elements below the number of transmit antennas of base station and opportunistically selecting transmit antennas according to channel states, where the number of selected antennas corresponds to the number of baseband and RF elements in base station. Accordingly, this paper proposes a simple antenna selection scheme for multiuser-based Massive MIMO systems. Our simulation results indicate that the proposed antenna selection scheme can achieve comparable performance to the conventional scheme without antenna selection.

Recently, a multi-user massive MIMO (MU-Massive MIMO) network has been attracting tremendous interest as one of technologies to accommodate explosively increasing mobile data traffic. The MU-Massive MIMO network can significantly enhance the network capacity because a base station (BS) equipped with large-scale transmit antennas can transmit high-rate data to multiple users simultaneously. In the MU-Massive MIMO network, transmit antenna selection schemes are generally used to decrease the computational complexity and cost of the BS. In this paper, we investigate the energy efficiency of the transmit antenna selection scheme in the MU-Massive MIMO network and the optimal number of selected transmit antennas for maximizing the energy efficiency.

This paper presents a link adaptation scheme for adaptive full duplex (AFD) systems. The signal modulation levels and communication link patterns are adaptively selected according to the changing channel conditions. The link pattern selection process consists of two successive steps such as a transmit-receive antenna pair selection based on maximum sum rate or minimum maximum symbol error rate, and an adaptive modulation based on maximum minimum norm. In AFD systems, the antennas of both nodes are jointly determined with modulation levels depending on the channel conditions. An adaptive algorithm with relatively low complexity is also proposed to select the link parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed AFD system offers significant bit error rate (BER) performance improvement compared with conventional full duplex systems with perfect or imperfect self-interference cancellation under the same fixed sum rate.

A procedure for antenna parameter selections is proposed that considers the relationships between synthetic aperture radar performance and the antenna parameters of a parabola-type reflector antenna with a central flat dish. The effects of a central dish designed for weight reduction on the antenna beam pattern are also quantitatively analyzed using commercially available software based on the physical optics algorithm. The results of the theoretical analysis and simulation predict that a larger size of the central dish results in an increase in the sidelobe level, which is the reason for the increase in two important ambiguities, such as range ambiguity ratio (RAR) and azimuth ambiguity ratio (AAR). The dependence of RAR and AAR on Pulse repetition frequency is also analyzed and discussed.

This paper proposes a combination system of Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), which improves the throughput and has a better reliability. In addition, the system includes Precoding, Antenna Subset Selection and MIMO Mode Selection scheme. Finally, we make a performance analysis of the proposed system. The principal environmental parameters for the simulation experiment consist of a frequency non-selective rayleigh fading channel and a Spreading Factor (SF) of 16. Other parameters may be included in order to fulfill the requirements of the HSDP A Standard. The proposed system has a higher throughput and more reliability than the conventional system, which does not include MIMO Mode Selection scheme, Precoding or Antenna Subset Selection. According to the simulation results, the proposed system reaches the maximum throughput at 8dB, presentlng an improvement of 6dB and twice higher throughput, respect to the conventional system. Specifically, at the point of -6dB, the conventional system reaches 2.5Mbps, while the proposed system reaches 6.4Mbps at the same SNR. Also, at the point of 2dB, each system reaches 7.5Mbps (conventional system) and 15.3Mbps (proposed system), with near twice the difference. According to the results exposed above, we can conclude that the system proposed in this paper has, as the greatest contribution, the improvement of the throughput, especially, the average throughput.

The switched diversity, although its performance is a little inferior to the selection diversity, is widely used due to its advantage that only one RF circuit is required for its operation without respect to the number of antennas in use. In this paper, we propose an application of the antenna switched diversity to a spread spectrum system with adaptive modulation and derived the optimal antenna switching threshold to maximize the average transmission bit rate. We also compared the performances of the proposed system with those of the two cases using a single antenna and the selection diversity with two antennas in terms of the average number of bits per symbol(BPS), the probability of no transmission, and the average BER. The performance analysis shows that, if the number of paths in a multipath channel environment increases, the performance of the proposed scheme becomes closer to that of the selection diversity based system in terms of the average BPS. Furthermore, the proposed scheme produces as almost high the probability of no transmission as the selection diversity based system for the case of low average SNR, although the former yields a little higher probability of no transmission than the latter fer the case of high average SNR.

The transmit adaptive array requires the forward link channel information for evaluating the optimum transmit weight vector in which a feedback channel provides transmitter with the forward link channel information. The larger transmit adaptive array is, the higher required rate of feedback channel is. Therefore we consider the system that the N-transmit antenna system is expanded to the 2N-transmit antenna system, while the feedback channel is maintained as that of N-transmit antenna system. The increase of the number of antennas can produce the additional diversity gain, however the insufficient feedback bits assigned to each antenna aggravates the quantization error. In this paper, we propose the transmit antenna selection in order to improve the performance of transmit adaptive array having an insufficient feedback channel information. The effective method to transmit the weight vector is also introduced. System performances are investigated for the case of N=4 corresponding to the antenna selection diversity schemes on the flat fading channel and the multipath fading channel. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the system performance by 1 dB when the N is expanded to the 2N, while the feedback channel is restricted to that of N-transmit antenna system.
In order to ensure maximum capacity at a given frequency resource, the number of antennas must be increased. The increase in antennas means that such guaranteed channel resources can be used as an increase in channel capacity by aquiring another channel resource. In order to aggregate antennas in such a situation where there are a plurality of antennas, a problem of miniaturizing and integrating antennas must be accompanied. In this situation, in order to efficiently allocate channel resources and antenna resources in limited device resources, the problem of antenna selection and user scheduling was considered and solved together. By numerical simulation results, the proposed algorithm was proven to effectively reduce 34 % power consumption in averagewith increase in antennas.
