유용 자원식물의 진균성 신병해(III) (New Fungal diseases of Economic Resource Plants in Korea (III))

  • This paper is a third report about the new fungal diseases of economic resource plants in Korea. It contains short descriptions on symptoms, occurrence conditions, pathogen, and some phytopathological notes for each of 10 fungal plant diseases. They are angular leaf spot of Achyranthes japonica by Cercospora achyranthis causing leaf spot and defoliation in the shade of plants, leaf spot of Armoracia lapathifolia by Cercospora armoraciae causing leaf spot to blight from the rainy season to autumn, hypophyllous mold of Dioscorea tokoro by Distocercospora pachyderma causing leaf spot and yellowing, hypophyllous mold of Artemisia spp.by Mycovellosiella ferruginea causing leaf spot and yellowing, angular leaf spot of Aralia elata by Pseudocercospora araliae causing velvety leaf spot and defoliation, hypophyllous mold of Lycium chinense by Pseudocercospora chengtuensis causing velvety leaf spot and defoliation from the rainy season to autumn, angular leaf spot of Diospyros lotus by Pseudocercospora disospyri-morrisianae causing leaf spot and defoliation from summer to autumn, brown leaf spot of Impatiens textori by Pseudocercospora nojimae causing leaf spot to blight from the rainy season, leaf spot of Cephalonoplos segetum by Ramularia cirsii causing leaf spot to blight throughout the growing season, and white mold of Leonurus sibiricus by Ramularia leonuri causing leaf spot to blight mostly in autumn.

Xanthomonas fragariae에 의한 딸기 세균성모무늬병 (Angular Leaf Spot of Strawberry Caused by Xanthomonas fragariae)

  • 2009년 진주시 수곡면 딸기 노지재배 육묘 포장과 하동군 옥종면 촉성재배 시설하우스 딸기포장에서 병이 발생하였다. 병징은 잎에 수침상의 작은 반점이 서서히 생기면서 엽맥의 주위에 다각형의 모무늬 병반이 나타나고 노란색의 달무리가 형성하는 것이 특징이다. 병든 잎은 서서히 시들고 암갈색으로 말라 죽는다. YDC 배지 상에서 병원균의 균총은 노란색을 띤 오랜지 색소를 분비하며 둥근 콜로니를 형성하고 단극모를 가지고 있다. 딸기에 접종한 결과 병원성이 잘 나타났다. 이상과 같이 딸기에 발생한 병정, 병원균의 특징 및 병원성을 검정한 결과 Xanthomonas fragariae에 의한 딸기 세균성모무늬병으로 동정하였다.

  • This paper is the fifth report about the fungal diseases of economic resource plants observed newly in Korea. It contains short descriptions on symptoms, occurrence conditions, pathogens, and some phytopathological notes for each of 10 fungal plant diseases. They are identified as leaf spot of Adenophora triphylla var. japonica by Septoria lengyelii, leaf spot of Calystegia soldanella by S. convolvuli, leaf spot of Campanula punctata by S. campanulae, leaf spot of Codonopsis lanceolata by S. codonopsidis, leaf spot of Geum japonicum by s. gei, black spot of Oenanthe javanica by s. oenanthes, leaf spot of Oenothera odorata by S. oenotherae, angular leaf spot of Rehmannia glutinosa by S. digitalis, brown spot of Rubus crataegifolius by s. rubi, and leaf spot of Viola verecunda by S. violae-palustris, respectively.

접종방법에 따른 딸기모무늬병원균의 발병도 검증 및 친환경 방제 효과 (Disease Severity of Angular Leaf Spot Disease by Different Inoculation Method and Eco-Friendly Control Efficacy in Strawberry.)

  • 딸기 세균성모무늬병은 딸기를 기주로 하여 발생하며 큰 피해를 발생시킨다. 병원균의 전반은 관수의 형태, 감염된 모주의 이용 그리고 작업자에 의해 이루어지며 현재까지 명확한 화학적방제법이 개발되어 있지 않다. 2010년, 국내의 모무늬병원균에 대한 최초 보고에 따르면 병징으로서 잎 뒷면에 수침상의 각진 병반이 형성되며 습도가 높고 적합한 환경에서 세균침출액을 형성하게 되고 또한 진전된 경우 잎에서 적갈색의 병반이 형성된다고 보고하였다. 현재까지 이루어진 연구에 따르면 딸기 세균성모무늬병에 대하여 두 가지 품종이 저항성을 지니고 있다는 연구 결과가 있으며 감염된 포장에서는 수확량의 10%를 감소를 나타낸다고 알려져 있다. 그러나 이와 같은 모무늬병원균에 대한 국내에서의 활발한 연구가 이루어져 있지 않은 상황이다. 이에 본 연구는 딸기 모무늬병에 대하여 원인병원균이 Xanthomonas fragariae 병원균에 의하여 발생됨을 보고하는 바이며 병원성검증실험 진행한 결과 국내의 딸기재배 품종인 매향과 설향 중 매향이 감수성을 나타냄을 확인하였다. 또한 NaDCC처리시 98%이상의 방제가가 확인되었으므로 친환경방제제로서의 가능성을 제시하며 이러한 연구결과들은 국내에 발생되어있는 딸기 세균성모무늬병에 대하여 기초적 자료로서 보고하는 바이다.

Occurrence and Characterization of Leaf Spot Caused by Septoria melissae on Lemon Balm in Korea

  • Leaf spot on lemon balm is frequently observed in Korea, causing considerable damage to crops. In 2014 and 2015, the occurrence of leaf spot was observed in several production greenhouses at Suwon, Gongju, and Namwon in Korea. Symptoms on lower leaves initially developed as small, distinct, discolored lesions, which enlarged progressively turning into dark brown, angular spots surrounded by purplish-brown margins. Based on the morphological characteristics and sequence analysis of actin (ACT), translation elongation factor 1-alpha (EF-1α), internal transcribed spacer (ITS), 28S nrDNA (LSU), and RNA polymerase II second largest subunit (RPB2), the fungus associated with the lemon balm leaf spot was determined as Septoria melissae. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of lemon balm leaf spot caused by S. melissae in Asia as well as in Korea.

Incidences of Leaf Spots and Blights on Kiwifruit in Korea

  • Various kinds of leaf spots and blights were found in kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) orchards on 2006 in Korea. Disease incidences were quite variable between open-field and rain-proof shelter. Rate of diseased leaves was recorded as about 70% at open-field orchards in late season but use of rain-proof vinyl shelters alleviated the disease incidences by 20%. Angular leaf spots appeared at early infection stage on June and several other symptoms were also recognized as the disease developed afterward. On September, brown leaf blights were the most frequent, followed by grayish brown ring spots, silvering gray leaf blights, zonate leaf blights, dark brown ring spots and angular leaf spots at open-field orchards. Four fungal species were frequently isolated from the disease symptoms. Phomopsis sp. was the most predominant fungus associated with the leaf spot and blight symptoms on kiwifruit, followed by Glomerella cingulata, Alternaria alternata and Pestalo-tiopsis sp. Phomopsis sp. was commonly isolated from angular leaf spots, silvering gray leaf blights, and zonate brown leaf blights. G. cingulata, A. alternata and Pestalotiopsis sp. were isolated from grayish brown ring spots (anthracnose), brown ring spots and zonate dark brown leaf blights. Typical symptoms appeared on the wounded and unwounded leaves, which were inoculated by each of Phomopsis sp., G. cingulata, and Pestalotiopsis sp., but A. alternata caused symptoms only on the wounded leaves.

Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Pseudocercospora chionanthi-retusi Causing Leaf Spot on Chionanthus retusus in Korea

  • Leaves of Chionanthus retusus were found to be damaged by leaf spot disease associated with a fungus in Iksan, Korea. Leaf spots were angular to irregular, vein-limited, scattered, 1-8 mm diameter, brownish-gray to dark brown when dry, with heavy fructification. The pathogen causes premature defoliation of C. retusus plant and was identified as Pseudocercospora chionanthi-retusi based on morphological and molecular-phylogenetic analyses. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using multi-locus DNA sequence data of partial actin (actA), partial translation elongation factor 1-alfa (tef1), partial DNA-directed RNA polymerase II second largest subunit (rpb2) genes, and internal transcribed spacer regions. Current study provides detail morphological description of P. chionanthi-retusi on C. retusus in Korea, with supports of phylogenetic analysis and pathogenicity test.

  • 국내 딸기 재배지에서 세균모무늬병은 2010년 최초 보고되었다. 딸기 세균모무늬병은 검역 병원균으로 분류되어 있어 수출 딸기의 품질저하와 수출통관에 문제를 야기시키기로 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 딸기의 육묘기와 재배기에서 세균모무늬병 방제에 적합한 살세균제를 선발하는 것에 목적이 있다. 시험된 약제 중 육묘기에는 Oxolinic acid 방제가가 97.2% 나타내었으며, 재배기에는 Validamycin A의 방제가가 93.3% 나타내었다. 토양소독이 병행되지 않은 포장에서는 재배기 Validamycin A의 방제가가 80%로 감소되었다. 따라서, 토양소독과 항세균제 처방에 의한 딸기 세균모무늬병의 방제가 효과적인 것으로 판명되었다.

Epidemiology and Control of Strawberry Bacterial Angular Leaf Spot Disease Caused by Xanthomonas fragariae

  • Strawberry bacterial angular leaf spot (ALS) disease, caused by Xanthomonas fragariae has become increasingly problematic in the strawberry agro-industry. ALS causes small angular water-soaked lesions to develop on the abaxial leaf surface. Studies reported optimum temperature conditions for X. fragariae are $20^{\circ}C$ and the pathogen suffers mortality above $32^{\circ}C$. However, at the nursery stage, disease symptoms have been observed under high temperature conditions. In the present study, results showed X. fragariae transmission was via infected maternal plants, precipitation, and sprinkler irrigation systems. Systemic infections were detected using X. fragariae specific primers 245A/B and 295A/B, where 300-bp and 615-bp were respectively amplified. During the nursery stage (from May to August), the pathogen was PCR detected only in maternal plants, but not in soil or irrigation water through the nursery stage. During the cultivation period, from September to March, the pathogen was detected in maternal plants, progeny, and soil, but not in water. Additionally, un-infected plants, when planted with infected plants were positive for X. fragariae via PCR at the late cultivation stage. Chemical control for X. fragariae with oxolinic acid showed 87% control effects against the disease during the nursery period, in contrast to validamycin-A, which exhibited increased efficacy against the disease during the cultivation stage (control effect 95%). To our knowledge, this is the first epidemiological study of X. fragariae in Korean strawberry fields.

포도나무 갈색무늬병의 최근 발생 동향과 다발생에 의한 과실의 당도저하 (Occurrence Tendency and Decrease of Fruits Brix According to Increasing Grapevine Leaf Spot Disease Caused by Pseudocercospora vitis)

  • Pseudocercospora vitis에 의한 포도나무 갈색 무늬병은 우리나라 포도 재배지에서 가장 문제가 되는 병의 하나로 잎에 부정형 또는 원형의 갈색 무늬를 형성하며 병반의 크기는 2${\sim}$20mm 정도이다. 우리나라에서 가장 많이 재배하고 있는 캠벨얼리 포도는 특히 이 병에 감수성이며 방제 상황에 따라서는 95%까지 심하게 발생하여 피해를 주는 포도의 주요 병이다. 심하게 병에 걸린 나무는 조기낙엽과 동화산물의 이동에 영향을 미쳐 생육과 이듬해 꽃눈형성이 억제되기도 하며, 과실의 당도를 저하시키는 원인이 되기도 한다. 갈색무늬병의 피해해석을 구명하기 위해 포도나무의 발병엽률을 누적하여 "누적 발병엽률"을 산출하고, 이를 3개 집단으로 구분한 뒤 각 집단에 속하는 나무에서 수확한 포도의 당도를 측정한 결과 '상대적 당도'로 환산한 결과를 분석하여 Y = 0.0009$X^2$ - 0.371X + 116.45 ($R^2$ = 0.98)의 고도로 유의한 회귀식을 유도하였고, 이 방정식에 대입하여 병 발생이 심했던 집단의 나무에서 수확한 포도와 상대적으로 발생이 적었던 집단과는 약 20%의 당도차가 있었음을 알 수 있었다.
