A Simulation Approach for Testing Non-hierarchical Log-linear Models

  • Let us assume that two different log-linear models are selected by various model selection methods. When these are non-hierarchical it is not easy to choose one of these models. In this paper the well-known Cox's statistic is applied to compare these non-hierarchical log-linear models. Since it is impossible to obtain the analytic solution about the problem we proposed a alternative method by extending Pesaran and pesaran's (1993) simulation approach. We find that the values of proposed test statistic and the estimates are very much stable with some empirical results.

  • An analytic solution approach to the time-varying obstacle avoidance problem is pursued. We use the view-time concept, especially the adaptive view-time. First. we introduce the adaptive view-time and analyze its properties. Next, we propose a view-time based motion planning method. The proposed method is applied and simulated for the collision-free motion planning of a 2 DOF robot manipulator. We simulate the robot motion under several different view-time systems. Generally, the motion planning with the adaptive view-time systems has some advantages over that with the fixed view-time systems.

  • It is often the case with the durability design to use diffusion coefficient obtained from experimental test. From the analytic solution considering the starting time of exposure, it is confirmed that the diffusion coefficient from NT BUILD 443 underestimates real reference value.

  • This paper deals with the controller design problem having input filter. To reduce the excessive overshoot in the set-point response, a design method with filtered input is proposed here and we show that it can be reduce the overshoot to the specified value based on simple formula. Analytic results and computer simulation show that the contorller design method suggested in this paper is superior to the conventional solution of reducing large overshoot.

  • We derive analytic expressions for the spontaneous emission spectrum of a device using DFB structures including the effects of both facet reflections and the phase of a grating. In solution of coupled mode equations. Equations for the reations between the spontaneous emission spectrum and structure parameters of the device are derived to investigate the effect of structure parameters on the spontaneous emission spectrum and operating characteristics of possibility of evaluating the structure parameters of the device from its spontaneous emission spectrum.

  • Hydrodynamic behavior and response of vertical-cylindrical liquid-storage tank is considered. The equation of the liquid motion is shown by Laplace's differential equation with the fluid velocity potential. The solution of the Laplace's differential equation of the liquid motion is expressed with the modified Bessel functions. Only rigid tank is studied. The effective masses and heights for the tank contents are presented for engineering design model.

  • A new tridiagonal Toeplitz linear system (TTLS) solver is proposed. The solver decomposes a strictly diagonally dominant TTLS equation into a number of subsystems using a limit convergent of an analytic solution of a continued fraction. Subsystem equations can be solved employing a modified Gaussian elimination method. The solver fully exploits parallelism. Optimized operational environment for the algorithm is discussed.
