The analysis of maritime traffic refers to the processes that are used to analyze the environmental characteristics of the target area and, based on this analysis, predict the traffic pattern of the vessels. In recent years, maritime traffic analysis has become significant with increase maritime traffic volume and expansion of VTS coverage area. In addition, maritime traffic analysis is also applicable in the safety assessment of port facilities and the VTS (Vessel Traffic Service). In this paper, we propose a method to analyze the vessels' traffic pattern by using the heat map and the centroid method. This method is efficient for the analysis of the vessel trajectory data where spatial characteristics change with time. In the experiments, the traffic density and centroid by time have were analyzed. Trajectory data collected at Mokpo harbor was adopted. Finally, we reviewed the experimental results to verify the feasibility of the proposed method as a maritime traffic analysis method.

Under the current law or system, the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk does not reflect the characteristics of traffic accident and the pedestrian's walking pattern. Thus, this study conducted a video recording survey on the 250 spots which are high to traffic accident rate of pedestrian-vehicle to reset the range of traffic accident on or near the crosswalk considering the characteristics of traffic accident and the pedestrian's walking pattern. Based on the collected data through a video recording survey, this study analyzed the pattern of pedestrians and extracted the variables influenced in the pedestrian's walking pattern. After conducting the regression analysis, this study made the model of measuring the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk. Through all processes these, this study reset the range of traffic accident on the crosswalk which could minimize the disadvantages of pedestrian when they have an accident on the crosswalk and ensure the right of way of pedestrian.
A traffic route is an area associated with high risk for accidents due to the flow of heavy traffic. Despite this concern, most studies related to traffic focus solely on traffic distribution. Therefore, there is a need for studies investigating the characteristics of ships' routes and traffic patterns. In this study, an investigation was carried out to analyze the traffic distribution and pattern in 3 major traffic routes for 3 days. For the purpose of the study, based on the prevailing traffic conditions, the route was divided into 10 gate lines. The ships passing through the lines were also classified into either small, medium and large. ND-K-S (normal distribution, kurtosis, and skewness) test was carried out for the traffic distribution at each gate line based on the information analyzed on each traffic route. The analysis of the results obtained from the ND test showed that large vessels have normal distribution, medium sized vessels have satisfied normal distribution in one-way route only while small sized vessels do not have normal distribution. According to the result obtained from the K-S test, normal traffic pattern shows a significant difference between two-way route and one-way route. Results obtained from the K test result shows that in the case of one-way route, vessels have a traffic pattern using a wide range on traffic route. Further analysis shows that vessels concentrate on one side of route in case of two-way route. Results obtained from the S test show that, in case of one-way route, vessels have a normal traffic pattern according to center line. However, analysis pf the results shows that vessels are shifted to the right side of route in case of two-way route. Despite these findings, it should be noted that this study was carried out in only 3 ports, therefore there is need for investigation to be carried out in various routes and conditions in future studies.

High-speed services and bulk transmission were available by the development of the network and communication technologies. Moreover various next-generation converged services are undergoing a change by various services. This paper presents improved real-time simulated traffic generation and verification schemes based on the actual traffic pattern analysis. For this, we analyzed traffic patterns of actual application system and generated simulated traffics. We also suggested scheme that verify similarity of simulated traffic and actual traffic.
Amongst various analytic methods of internal structure of city, the factor analysis method which uses O-D matrix data has some merits and characteristics compared to other methods. 1) It is possible to find one certain interaction and flow pattern between traffic zones with in a city through reanalyzing O-D data which is too complex to grasp specific meaning or pattern of flow systems. 2) It can be easily visualized the traffic flow pattern by using adequate graphic techniques, and also can clarify the functional areas whose interaction linkages are significantly strong enough between each other. In this study, the taxi traffic O-D data between 42 traffic zones in Kwang-ju city was reanalyzied by varimax rotated factor analysis methods. As a result, four factors that have significant level factor loading (over 0.5 ) and factor score (over 1.0) were sorted out. so to speak four different functional areas were clarified in Kwang-ju city, of the West, the East, the south, and the North functional areas whose interaction linkages are significantly strong enough between each other. In the study, the taxi traffic O-D data between 42 traffic zones in Kwang-ju city was reanalyzied by varimax rotated factor analysis methods. As a result, four factors that have significant level factor loading (over 0.5) and factor score 9over 1.0) were sorted out. so to speak four different functional areas were clarified in Kwang-ju city, of the West, the East, the South, and the North functional area, then these four functional areas are almost coincided with citizen's general conception of community division and administrative district. Accordingly the factor analysis methods using traffic data seems to proved to be very accurate and useful analytic instruments for analyzing flow pattern and clarifying functional areas of city, and believed to provide basic informations and criteria for practical urban land use planning and transportation planning.
This paper aims to analyze the accident based on changing patterns of traffic culture index. For this purpose, this paper particularly focuses on classifying the traffic culture patterns and developing the traffic accidents using panel count data model. The main results are as follows. First, the traffic culture patterns are divided into 'increasing', 'decreasing' and 'other' patterns. The null hypotheses that the number of accident are the same over patterns are rejected. Second, 4 fixed effect negative binomial models which are all statistically significant are developed. Third, the regions with 'increasing' pattern are analyzed to be mostly the counties, and to demand the traffic law enforcement. Fourth, the regions with 'decreasing' pattern are evaluated to be mainly the districts and to require such the traffic culture as turn signal usage. Finally, the regions with 'other' pattern are analyzed to be mostly the cities and to ask for enhancing the level of traffic culture.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to check the possibilities of traffic pattern analysis using MatSIM for urban road network operation in incident case. METHODS : One of the stochastic dynamic models is MatSIM. MatSIM is a transportation simulation tool based on stochastic dynamic model and activity based model. It is an open source software developed by IVT, ETH zurich, Switzerland. In MatSIM, various scenario comparison analyses are possible and analyses results are expressed using the visualizer which shows individual vehicle movements and traffic patterns. In this study, trip distribution in 24-hour, traffic volume, and travel speed using MatSIM are similar to those of measured values. Therefore, results of MatSIM are reasonable comparing with measured values. Traffic patterns are changed according to incident from change of individual behavior. RESULTS : The simulation results and the actual measured values are similar. The simulation results show reasonable ranges which can be used for traffic pattern analysis. CONCLUSIONS : The change of traffic pattern including trip distribution, traffic volumes and speeds according to various incident scenarios can be used for traffic control policy decision to provide effective operation of urban road network.

This paper introduces a network security situation awareness tool using a traffic pattern map which facilitates recognizing a current network status by extracting and analyzing predetermined traffic features and displaying an abnormal or harmful traffic which deteriorates network performance. The traffic pattern-map consists of $26{\times}26$ intersections, on which the occupancy rate of the port having maximum occupancy is displayed as a bar graph. In general, in case of the Internet worm, the source address section on the traffic pattern map is activated. In case of DDoS the destination address section is activated.

In this paper, it was performed the analysis on various intersection acoustic patterns for detection rate improvement of accident sound detection system : an acoustic pattern analysis on general traffic noise, an acoustic pattern analysis on engine noise, an acoustic pattern analysis on obstruct factors for accident sound detection system. There are remarkable differences between the acoustic patterns of traffic noise and accident sound, and we most consider the acoustic patterns when we compose the accident traffic detection system by acoustic because there is error range of 20[dB] according to the volume of traffic in intersection.
This paper discusses operational technique and effectiveness of Variable Speed Limits system that is implemented to control the traffic-flow on the Naebu Expressway. As the first step of the analysis, traffic data collected from vehicle detectors are corrected and smoothed. Applying a pattern analysis technique to the traffic data, the weekday traffic is classified into four different groups, and median of each group is calculated. Using three state variables, i.e., diverted traffic volume, average density and average speed, the conditions of roadway segments are determined. Computational outputs resulted from the application of the proposed model to the scenarios show that implementation of Variable Speed Limits system improved both safety and efficiency of the expressway. For the operational strategy, this paper also presents the change rate of the speed limit, and the effective duration of the speed limit according to the entering traffic volume.
