The purpose of this study was to examine mathematics teachers' perceptions of multicultural education. To achieve this goal, the study explored how 10 elementary mathematics teachers noticed multicultural content in a mathematics textbook. Building upon noticing framework (Jacobs, Lamb, & Philipp, 2010), we first examined teachers' attention toward multicultural content in a mathematics textbook. Then, we examined teachers' interpretation of the content. We employed a content analysis approach to examine the collected data. The results indicated that most mathematics teachers held a content integration perspective. Their view was that "multicultural education" referred to learning about the diverse cultures of different countries. Moreover, although they noticed some multicultural content in the textbook, they wanted to discuss them in superficially descriptive ways and avoid talking about social justice issues. Additionally, some teachers believed that mathematics is a culture-free subject. They argued that multicultural content should not be presented in mathematics textbooks. We also discussed uncommon themes, which were reported by only a few mathematics teachers.

Since 2022, textbooks in elementary school mathematics have been converted from national textbook system to authorization system, but it is pointed out that the composition of these new textbooks is almost the same as the existing national textbooks and the advantages of the authorization system cannot be utilized. Therefore a need has been raised to find out the composition of foreign textbooks. In order to compare the internal system of elementary mathematics textbook composition in Korea and Japan, Wakuwaku Sansu, one of Japan's elementary mathematical textbooks was analyzed and compared with Korean textbooks. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Japanese textbooks have more flexibility in the composition of the unit, the number of hours of the unit, the introduction of special lessons, and emphasis. This analysis will promote the diversity and creativity of the composition of elementary mathematics textbooks in Korea, providing implications for more efficient textbook compilation.

수학 교수 학습을 지원하기 위한 자원으로서의 수학 교과서는 우리나라 수업에서 특히 중요하게 활용된다. 그동안 수학 교과서 연구의 범위가 확장되고 그에 따른 연구가 많아지고 있지만, 정작 우리나라의 수학 교과서 연구의 전반적인 동향을 분석한 연구는 많지 않다. 본 연구는 국내 수학교육 학술지에 게재된 논문 중 수학 교과서와 관련된 418편의 논문을 대상으로 전반적인 교과서 연구의 동향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 교과서 분석 연구의 비중이 압도적으로 높았고, 다음으로 교과서 활용 연구, 교과서 개발 연구의 순서로 나타났다. 전체적으로 중고등학교급보다 초등학교급에서 교과서 연구가 많았다. 교과서 분석 연구의 경우는 특정한 수학 개념을 교과서에 어떻게 제시하였는지 분석하는 연구가 가장 많았고, 교과서 활용 연구의 경우는 교사와 학생을 대상으로 교과서의 적절성을 검토하거나 특정 코너나 활동에 대한 인식 및 사용실태를 설문조사를 바탕으로 분석하는 경우가 많았다. 교과서 개발 연구의 경우는 스토리텔링과 전자교과서와 같은 새로운 교과서 개발 방향과 예시를 다루는 논문이 많았다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 토대로, 본 논문은 국내 수학교육 맥락과 국외 수학 교과서 연구의 동향에 비추어 교과서 연구에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 예비수학교사들의 수학과 디지털교과서에 대한 인식을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 충청북도 소재한 H대학교의 수학교육과에 재학 중인 52명의 예비수학교사에게 설문조사를 실시하여 분석하였으며 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 예비수학교사들은 수학과 디지털교과서의 효과에 긍정적으로 인식하였으며, 상호작용에 대해서도 보통으로 인식하였다. 예비수학교사들은 수학과 디지털교과서의 흥미 요인에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하였으며, 디지털교과서가 학생건강에 미치는 영향에 대해 보통으로 인식하였다. 예비수학교사들은 디지털교과서가 수업운영에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 보통으로 인식하였다. 일부 예비수학교사들은 함수 영역과 기하 영역에서 디지털교과서가 필요함을 강조하였으며, 일부 예비수학교사들은 서책형 교과서가 더 적합하다고 하였다. 본 연구는 향후 사범대학에서 디지털교과서를 활용에 대한 예비교사 교육프로그램을 개발하고 활용하기 위한 기초연구로서 그 의의가 있다.

In this paper we study activity theory and Davydov's learning activity theory. We analyze brief history of activity theory in Russia, structure of human activity, and Davydov's studies in activity theory. Especially we analyze Davydov's 1st grade mathematics textbook, and try to investigate embodiment of Davydov's learning activity theory in his mathematics textbook.

본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정에서 처음으로 고시한 <경제수학> 과목의 교과서에 대한 분석 연구이다. <경제수학> 교과서는 상경계열을 지원하는 학생을 위해 개발된 최초의 교과서라는 면에서 교육적 의의가 매우 높다. 이에 본 연구에서는 <경제수학> 교과서가 교육과정 개발자가 제시하고 교과서 인정 기관에서 구체화한 교과서 편찬상의 유의점과 일관성이 있는지 분석하고, 국가에서 고시한 수학과 교육과정과 일관성이 있는지 분석한다. 본 연구에서의 일관성에 대한 분석 결과 <경제수학> 교과서의 내용은 부분적으로 일관성이 있지만, 그렇지 않은 부분도 다수 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과로 볼 때, 향후 고등학교 선택과목의 검·인정에 있어 보다 철저한 기준 마련과 일관성을 유지하기 위한 구체적인 기준의 제시가 요구된다.

This study basically investigates the meaning and properties of performance task applicable to mathematics classroom and it finds out how to run effectively performance task activities included in the present mathematics textbooks. To accomplish this, this study deals with twelves kinds of mathematics textbooks for ninth graders and is proceeded on the basis of textbook analysis and teacher interview. Considering a situation that in future mathematics textbook would be developed, according to the analytic results of this study, common understanding of performance task and qualified performance task are needed, a variety of tasks classified by differentiated level are needed. In addition, each task should be dealt with the contents related to curious and interesting real-life situations. Furthermore, fairness of checking and recording should be established and teachers' positive attitudes to applying performance tasks to math class are needed.

The purpose of this study was to analyze recent research trends of mathematics textbooks to provide implications for textbook research and development. For this purpose, 90 out of 1121 research papers published between 2006 and 2011 in seven prestigious domestic journals were selected. The papers dealing with only Korean mathematics textbooks were analyzed by school levels (i.e., elementary or secondary), mathematics content areas, analytic methods, and implications. The papers comparing our mathematics textbooks with foreign counterparts were analyzed by reasons for the comparison, school levels, subjects for analysis, and implications. The results of this study urge us to pay more attention to secondary mathematics textbooks, least studied content areas, and various but inconsistent analytic methods. This paper also suggests close connections between textbook analysis and textbook development.

본 연구는 현행 초등학교 교과서에 제시되는 각뿔 관련 내용을 분석하여 문제점을 확인하고 그 개선방안을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 교과서에서는 각뿔의 정의를 일반적으로 제시하고 있지만, 학생의 수준을 고려하여 실질적으로는 옆면의 모양이 이등변삼각형인 각뿔만을 의도적으로 다루고 있다. 그러나 그러한 각뿔은 직각뿔의 정의에 맞지 않으며, 기울어지지 않은 안정적인 각뿔이라는 직관에도 부합하지 않는다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 각뿔 지도의 개선방안을 제안하고 분석결과가 교사 교육에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.

In the seventh mathematics curriculum, the use of technological tools including calculator and computer are generally recommended through the seventh subjects related to mathematics emphasized, and especially in 'Applied Mathematics' subject, their use are more strongly emphasized and reflected. The total four kinds of textbooks of Applied Mathematics includes contents on their use. This study investigates what are contents on calculator use, how they are developed and constructed in Applied Mathematics Textbook. Furthermore, this study is focused on the analysis and comparison on those factors of four kinds of textbooks. Based on these results, this study ultimately hope to suggest how effectively calculator use be developed and constructed in textbook both in Applied Mathematics and the other mathematics subjects.
