Pressurized Pneumatic Grit Conveying Characteristics in Pipeline for Open Blasting Robot (오픈 블라스팅 로봇에서 관로내의 그리트 가압이송 특성)

  • In this paper, to improve the efficiency of pressurized pneumatic grit conveying for ship block open blasting process. Pressurized pneumatic grit conveying is defined as the transportation of grit(abrasive) in a compressed air flow. Total Pressure loss in flexible hose for pneumatic conveying is sum of pressure losses due to gas and grit and needle type pressure transmitter for measured pressure loss. haracteristics of grit open blasting by pneumatic conveying were studied experimentally. Studies variables were blasting nozzle ID, length and ID of flexible hose, grit flow rate, flow rate and pressure of transport air. It was experimentally proved that optimal open blasting condition and cost effective operation regarding grit blasting, obtaining a high qulity surface preparation(Sa $2^{\frac{1}{2}}$).

Measurement of Carbonaceous Species in Fine Particles at the Background Sites in Korea During 1996 and 1997 (우리 나라 배경농도지역의 1996~1997년 미세입자상 탄소성분 측정 결과)

  • The concentrations of organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) in fine aerosols were determined from the samples collected at the two background sites of Kosan in Cheju Island and Kangwha. Samplings were carried out during the spring and winter of 1996 and the fall and winter of 1997. PM25 particles were collected on the prefired quartz filters for 24 hours and analyzed by the selective thermal oxidation method. The concentrations of OC at the sites were higher than those commonly observed from clean areas around the world, but those of EC at both sites were lower than, or comparable to, other clean areas in the world. Both the OC and EC levels at Kangwha were higher than those at Kosan. According to backward trajectory analysis, most air pollutants collected at the two sites were from China. It was found that the OC and EC concentrations in air masses from southern China were higher than those from northern China.

  • Non-contact transportation of the large-sized glass plate using air-cushion is considered for sputtering system of LCD panel. The Argon gas from second gas injection holes is injected to levitate and transport the glass plate. Low maximum pressure and uniform pressure distribution on the bottom surface of the glass plate must be maintained for stable levitation and transportation of the glass plate. Therefore, the analysis of fluid flow between the glass plate and the air-pad is numerically performed for varying space between the injection holes in this study. The pressure uniformity on the bottom surface of the glass plate is evaluated for overall glass plate. The distance between the injection holes must be designed below 90 mm for obtaining the low maximum pressure and uniform pressure distribution.

  • The development of numerical mathematical model to calculate both the static and dynamic characteristics of a multi-shaft gas turbine consisting of a single combustion chamber, including advanced cycle components such as intercooler and regenerator is presented in this paper. The numerical mathematical model is based on the simplified assumptions that quasi-static characteristic of turbo-machine and injector is used, total pressure loss and heat transfer relation for static calculation neglecting fuel transport time delay can be employed. The supercharger power has a cubical relation to its rotating velocity. The accuracy of each calculation is confirmed by monitoring mass and energy balances with comparative calculations for different time steps of integration. The features of the studied gas turbine scheme are the starting device with compressed air volumes and injector's supercharging the air directly ahead of the combustion chamber.

  • In order to evaluate the performance of carbon dioxide cycle, a simulation model was developed to predict the steady state performance of $CO_2$ transcritical cycle. The expansion process is treated as an isenthalpic throttling process or isentropic expansion process. The mathematical model is based entirely on the basic energy conservation law and thermodynamic and transport properties of $CO_2$. A Parametric study has been conducted in order to investigate the effect of isentropic efficiency of expansion turbine and various operating conditions on the cycle performance. An optimal heat rejection pressure existed for the given evaporating temperature and outlet temperature of gas cooler.

Development of a New Correlation for the Heat Transfer Coefficient of Turbulent Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Flow (초임계 상태 이산화탄소 난류유동의 새로운 열전달계수 상관식 개발)

  • Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the turbulent convective heat transfer of the supercritical carbon dioxide flows in vertical and horizontal square ducts. The gas cooling process at the supercritical state experiences a sudden change in thermodynamic and transport properties. This results in the extraordinary variations of the heat transfer coefficients in the supercritical state, which are much different from those of single or two phase flows. Algebraic second moment closure which can include the effects of large thermophysical property variations of carbon dioxide and of buoyancy is employed to model the Reynolds stresses and turbulent heat fluxes in the governing equations. The previous correlations for the turbulent heat transfer coefficient for the supercritical carbon dioxide flows couldn't reflect the buoyancy effect. The present results are used to establish a new heat transfer coefficient correlation including the effects of large thermophysical property variation and buoyancy on in-duct cooling process of supercritical carbon dioxide.

  • A numerical simulation of velocity and temperature fields and Nusselt number distributions is performed by using the algebraic stress model (ASM) for the velocity profiles and low Reynolds number ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model and the algebraic heat flux model(AHFM) for turbulent heat transfer in a $180^{\circ}$ bend with a constant wall heat flux. In the low Reynolds number ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model, turbulent Prandtl number is modified by considering the streamline curvature effect and the non-equilibrium effect between turbulent kinetic energy production and dissipation rate. Every heat flux term presented in the transport equation of turbulent heat flux is reduced to algebraic expressions in a way similar to algebraic stress model. Also. in the wall region, low Reynods number algebraic heat flux model(AHFM) is applied.

  • Development pollution control strategies relies on photo-chemical transport models. These models integrate of mesoscale meteorological models with chemical moduls. In this study, the PSU/NCAR mesoscale meteorological model with CAMx is used to investigate the temporal and spatial dynamics of the photochemical air pollution in urban atmosphere of Istanbul for selected high ozone days. The ozone climatology for the selected days and model simulations are presented.

  • 최근 동아시아 지역의 산업의 발전과 함께 대기오염물질이 발생하여 인접국가간에 상호영향을 미치므로, 이들 오염물질들의 이동에 관한 정량적 파악과 영향에 대한 규명이 필요하다. 대기중의 입자상 이온물질중 질산염과 황산염의 경우 대부분이 인간활동의 결과로 유입된 NOx와 대기중의 SO$_2$가 대기 중에서 화학적 반응에 의해 형성된 2차 오염물질이다. 자동차, 공장의 가동 등으로 인하여 발생되는 이들 오염물질들은 국지적으로 기상조건에 따라 이동되고 있는 것으로 알려져 있고, 각 지역에서 측정을 비롯한 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다.
