This study attempted to extend Korean Wave literature by investigating (a) the influence of protagonists' personality characteristics and the role of empathy under the affective disposition theory, and (b) the power of some external factors in the entertainment media selection. After watching an episode of the popular Korean drama, Secret Garden, participants completed a survey in the United States. Results demonstrated that (a) the effect of personality characteristics varied across gender and (b) external factors affects the entertainment media selection positively. Findings indicate that media enjoyment is dependent on the audience's external factors.

This study was carried out in order to confirm the reliability and validity of the commitment inventory developed by Meyer and Allen, and to investigate commitment level of health manager, to compare two different professionals of health manager such as industrial health nurse and industrial hygienist to find out some characteristics that have effect on commitment. This survey was done by self-administered questionnaire to 227 respondents as the trainees of Industrial Safety Training Center, KISCO from June to December 1996. Authors classified commitment into two categories ; professional commitment and organizational commitment, and these two types of commitments have three different aspects ; affective, continuance, and normative commitment based on Meyer's inventory. The results were as follows; 1. Items of whole scales of the both type of commitments have three factors that represent three aspects of commitment ; affective, continuance, and normative commitment. This means that each type of commitment was reliable to use as measurement tool of three different aspects of commitment. Classification of items by factor analysis was more consistent in professional commitment than organizational commitment. Among 16 items of organizational commitment, four items were classified into different aspects of commitment with similar factor loading. 2. Commitment level of industrial health nurse was higher than that of industrial hygienist in affective, continuance professional commitment controlled by other characteristics. These differences can be due to other characteristics of specific task and background of health managers that were not used in this study. 3. The level of affective professional commitment was statistically different in age, sex, educational level, and that of organizational commitment was statistically different in only two variables such as age, and job tenure. The level of continuance professional and organizational commitments were different in sex group, but past history of employment have effect on continuance organizational commitment. The level of normative organizational commitment was affected by only age. As the above results, the tools of measurement of commitment developed by Meyer and Allen can be useful to measure the level of commitment of health manager. Three aspects of two types of commitments were influenced by different characteristics of health manager. Authors suggested future study on the affecting variables to the commitment such as background, task of health manager and organizational characteristics.

This study investigated the relationship between nurses' Career Commitment and Organizational Commitment, and the moderating effect of individual career-related characteristics (age, tenure, position, number of department change, number of hospital change) on the relationship between career commitment and organizational commitment. The sample for this study consisted of 594 nurses from 8 large Korean hospitals. And the factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, multiple regression analysis and two-way ANOVA were used for the statistical methods. Research was found that (1) career commitment and the two dimensions of organizational commitment(affective and transactional) were validated as distinct concepts for Korean nurses. (2) career commitment showed positive influence on the two dimension of organizational commitment, (3) all individual career-related characteristics did not moderated the effect of career commitment on affective commitment, but (4) number of career department change and of hospital change among career-related characteristics moderated the effect of career commitment on transactional commitment. Theoretical and practical implication of these result were discussed in the conclusion.
The purpose of this paper is to compare affective characteristics of mathematically gifted children and average students, by analying self-tests of self-efficacy and attitudes about mathematics. we survey 109 children from Mathematically Gifted Education Institutes located in Busan, and students from 6 elementary schools, each two graded A, B, and C, where schools graded A and B refer to so-called schools with concurrent and general classes and C schools with, semi-special and special classes ones. Those schools are determined through the consideration of geographical, cultural, and environmental conditions of 48 elementary schools under Seobu Educational Office, Busan Metropolitan City. From each of the six schools, a 5th-grade class is selected. That is, 205 students from 6 classes are finally selected. Results of the study can be described as follows. First, mathematically gifted children score higher on whole attitudes about mathematics and interest, preference, and confidence in each subarea than children from schools whose location is classified as A, B, and C. Irrespective of genders, mathematically gifted children are scored higher in the whole attitudes about mathematics than children from schools classified as A, B, and C. Second, mathematically gifted children are higher in score for self-efficacy than children from schools graded A, B, and C. Regardless of gender, mathematically gifted children are scored higher in self-efficacy than other groups of children. But mathematically gifted children's score is not significantly higher than that of children form schools graded A.
In this study we aimed to find out if a mathematics lesson with Jigsaw model can help to change such negative mathematical affective characteristic to a positive one. The results of the study were as in the following. First, the mathematics lessons applied Jigsaw model can help to inspire curiosity and motivation of students. During the lessons, communication among students was vitalized. Such communication inspired learner's curiosity and learning motivation. The expert group and home group activities in the Jigsaw model made the learner's question-answering activities more instantaneous and frequent. Second, the mathematics lessons applied Jigsaw model can help students to become aware of the value of mathematical concepts and formula.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the communication styles and nursing service satisfaction of clinical research nurses perceived by clinical subjects. Methods: The data were collected with self-administrated questionnaires after receiving consents from 200 clinical trial subjects. The data were analysed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 statistic program. Result: Clinical subjects perceived that clinical research nurses used the informative, affective, and non-authoritative communication styles. The study identified factors influencing the nursing service satisfaction, and they were the informative communication styles (${\beta}$=.34, p<.001) and affective communication styles (${\beta}$=.35, p<.001, $R^2$=37%) by multiple linear regression. Conclusion: If educational programs on communication are developed to help clinical research nurses use the informative and affective communication styles according to the characteristics of subjects and applied to the field of practice, they will be able to increase the nursing service satisfaction and contribute to the higher quality of clinical trials.
This study sets the cut points of affective achievement scores based on the criteria referenced assessment. The modified Angoff method is applied to the standardized mathematics affect inventory which had validity and reliability. The cut points are set for 6 factors i.e. learning directivity, self control, anxiety, interest, cognizing value and confidence. As the results, among percentages of factor that middle school 2nd grade students in Korea achieved, the proportion of cognizing value is the highest. And there are no difference of the proportions as for gender, differentiated instruction, and region.
A physician's empathy plays a crucial role in patient-centered care, and in modern medicine, patients, their caregivers, and society demand a high level of empathy from healthcare providers. The conceptualization of clinical empathy, which has emphasized cognitive empathy since the mid-20th century, has been widely accepted in medical schools and the healthcare industry without much critical ref lection. This study provides an overview of the ongoing debates on empathy versus sympathy and cognitive empathy versus affective empathy to clarify the concept of empathy. Based on recent research findings, clinical empathy is proposed to encompass three components: cognitive empathy, affective empathy, and empathic motivation. It is suggested that fully demonstrating these components requires empathic communication skills. Additionally, the cognitive characteristics of medical students and the features of the academic environment demonstrate the need for education to strengthen their empathy skills. Considering this, proposed intervention methods that medical schools can consider include utilizing tutoring programs and debriefing processes for team activities, which can facilitate problem-solving as a coping strategy for stress. Learning communities can create an environment where students can receive social support and recover from stress. Medical schools can contribute to the development of students' professional identities as practicing clinicians who embody empathy and respect by cultivating professors as positive role models. Additionally, utilizing scales to assess the empathic nature of doctor-patient communication or incorporating patients and caregivers as evaluators can actively improve empathic communication skills.

To identify the gifted, it is essential to perform overall evaluation on cognitive and affective aspects considering all the characteristics of the science gifted. Nowadays, not only cognitive factors but also affective factors are being emphasized. Among the affective factors of the gifted, the task commitment is an important factor to describe the gifted and their outstanding achievements. From this research, by measuring the characteristics of task commitment shown in the science gifted, this can offer good implications regarding the selection of the gifted and the education. We developed the rubric of the gifted students by analyzing the students' experience of showing task commitment. By applying the rubric, we measured the levels by areas of the characteristics of task commitment shown in the experiences which the science gifted had by deeply exploring the cause or the principle. To better understand the characteristics of the science gifted students' task commitment, each and every students' characteristics were specifically described. The students' task commitment can be measured objectively and effectively by using the measuring tool in the form of rubric based on the characteristics of the task commitment. Specifically describing the students' characteristics on the basis of their performance criteria is the grounds for the level judgment and enhances the understanding of the characteristics of students' task commitment.
