A criticism model for dress was developed to offer a methodological insight into research on aesthetics of dress. Concepts from Edmund B. Feldman's art criticism model, James D. Carney's style-relative model of art criticism, and Sung Bok Kim's fashion criticism model were borrowed and integrated to create a criticism model for dress, comprising identification of styles, descriptive features, aesthetic value features, external interpretation, socio-cultural interpretation, and evaluation. Both inductive and deductive approaches for the identification of styles can be made in the process of dress criticism. In the former case, descriptive features and aesthetic features are sequentially identified to locate the styles of dress. In the latter case, styles are identified first, and descriptive features and aesthetic features are identified accordingly. Logical criticisms can be made based on the critics' background knowledge of the history of dress and art.

패션은 한 시대와 지역의 일상적이고 보편적인 미의식을 표현하는 문화 요소로서, 신발 역시 우리나라만의 미의식을 반영하는 패션의 하나라는 관점에서 전통 화(靴)에 나타난 미적 특성을 통해 그 안에 내포되어 있는 미의식을 분석해 보고자 하였다. 미적 특성은 형식적인 면에서 곡선과 직선, 단순한 형태, 대비되는 색상과 소재 등 각 요소들의 균형 있는 사용이, 내용적인 면에서 신분과 지위의 상징으로서의 활용과 사상적 의미 부여가 특징적으로 나타났다. 미의식은 첫째, 곡선과 직선의 절충(折衷)으로 한 가지 요소에 치우침이 없이 서로의 특징을 수용하여 균형을 이루는 중용(中庸)의 미를 추구했다는 점이다. 둘째, 무심(無心)과 기교(技巧)의 조화(調和)로 형태와 색상, 소재에 대한 표현을 적절히 조절하여 비움과 채움을 자연스럽게 나타냈다는 점이다. 셋째, 정신과 물질의 합일(合一)로서 전통 화가 신분과 지위를 나타내는 표식으로 활용되었으나 물질에 정신적인 의미를 부여함으로써 기운생동(氣韻生動)의 가치를 추구했다는 점이다.

이 연구에서는 심미적 인상을 이미지 검색의 고수준 자질로 이용하였다. '심미적'이라는 용어는 심리학, 예술, 문학 등에서 연구되어 왔다. 이 용어는 시각적 지각과 감정의 무의식적이고 즉각적인 측면을 의미한다. 심미적 인상과 관련된 문헌 연구를 통해 4 가지 종류의 심미적 인상을 조작적으로 정의하였다: 강한 인상, 부드러운 인상, 중후한 인상, 세련된 인상. 66개의 회화 이미지 파일을 1,000개의 회화 이미지 중에서 무작위로 추출하였으며 시지각 색상 모형을 이용하여 이 이미지 파일들로부터 저수준 색상 자질을 추출하였다. 이미지의 고수준 자질인 4가지 종류의 심미적 인상은 4명의 평가자가 리커트 7점 척도로 평가한 것을 평균내었다. 검색 실험에서 2명의 피험자는 심미적 인상이나 주제어에 대한 예제 이미지 질의를 이용해서 이미지 검색을 수행하였다. 피험자들은 심미적 인상 기반 이미지 검색 시스템에 대해서 보통 정도의 수준으로 만족했다. 그리고 색상 자질과 심미적 인상 자질을 모두 이용한 이미지 검색의 R-정확률이 색상 자질만을 이용한 이미지 검색의 R-정확률보다 높았다. 그러나 이 연구결과의 일반화를 위해서는 큰 실험 집단을 대상으로 보다 많은 검색 질의를 통한 추후 연구들이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

This paper is intended to explore femininity the ideal beauty of body and the features in fashion pursued in the Fashion system and the Anti-Fashion Movement in the Victorian period, on which the modern fashion is based. For the informative facts needed in this paper, books on history, fashion history, feminism, art history of aestheticism and the ideal beauty of body are referred to. On the part Ⅱ of this paper, the femininity and the ideal beauty of body implied in the Aesthetic Movement and Rational Dress Movement as the anti-fashion movement in the Victorian period will be reviewed. Following are the conclusion : First, the works in Aesthetic Movement mainly include the image of sensual female. The essence of femininity is categorized by cultural value, poetic spirit. appetite for sex and self-expression. The ideal beauty of body pursued in this movement is the beauty of immatured body, which means rejection of maternity as well as appetite for sex in the form of metaphor of the power and enthusiasm of female. The features of Aesthetic Movement emphasize the image of sensual and characteristic woman. These features are expressed in the natural waist line and the vertical H silhouette of high waist, natural exposure of body by means of drapery, simplicity and decency by design without fixed forms and seemingly faded colors. Second, Rational Dress Movement attempted to evaluate the femininity in a different way and ultimately pursued masculinity. Therefore, morality, liberty, intelligence, spirituality, self-control, willingness, which had been believed to exclusively belong to male, are added to the categories of femininity. The ideal beauty of body is expressed in the form of Venus Coelestic which is refined and strong. This symbolizes woman's freeing from the fate of reproduction and subordinate relationship with male, morality, decision of one's own and willingness. The features of Rational Dress Movement represent the image of strong-willed and moral woman in its internal meaning. The features of its fashions represent the concealment of the body, emphasis on activeness in pants without decoration and simplicity in its external form. All these features resulted from the pursuit of masculinity.

Cystadenocarcinoma of the salivary gland is a rare malignant tumor. It was first defined as papillary cystadenocarcinoma in the 1991 World Health Organization (WHO) classification, and it was reclassified as cystadenocarcinoma in the 2005 WHO classification. It is a low-grade neoplasm that features slow growing and predominantly cystic growth. We report a case of cystadenocarcinoma occurring on the parotid gland of a 61-year-old female patient presenting palpable mass on her left cheek. Preoperative examination may not reveal typical malignant characteristics. Such as in our case, the differential diagnosis between cystadenocarcinoma and benign lesion is difficult occasionally. We discuss the clinical and histopathological features of cystadenocarcinoma with the review of the literature.

Aesthetic plastic surgery rarely has the lifesaving, the medical necessity, and the emergency, because it was executed in order to acquire personal satisfaction in the external features. In addition, aesthetic plastic surgery has the strong commerciality in that it is based on the attraction of a client through medical advertisement and the range of uninsurance. These characteristics cause whether aesthetic plastic surgery is included in medical procedure and the legal contract between physician and client is controversial issue. Also, attention and explanation in aesthetic plastic surgery are more emphasized than those in general medical procedure. According, this document presents the various characteristics of aesthetic plastic surgery, which differs from that of general medical procedure.

The role of fabric now directly related with the expression of the beauty of clothing and it provides new and creative ideas. This study was aimed at reviewing basic data that can be used in systematic design development through fabric expression for today's fashion designers who must study unique, original fashion design development. For systematic development of design technique through fabric expression, fabric expression methods and characteristics, aesthetic characteristics and fabric design of 'art to wear' were reviewed and the results are as follows. First, the highly wrought fabric expression of art to wear was confirmed to be comprehending a message within itself. Second, aesthetic characteristics of fabric expression used in art to wear can be classified as decorativeness, extensity, 2-D pictorialness, handicraft, compounding and rearrangement, and 3-D characteristics. Third, the 6 aesthetic characteristics have unique design features and aesthetic categories. The understanding the fabric expression techniques through study on the classification of the fabric expression in 'art to wear' is expected to be extended to proposition of creative direction and inspiration of modern fashion.

Background Mastectomy in male transgender patients is an important (and often the first) step toward physical manhood. At our department, mastectomies in transgender patients have been performed for several decades. Methods Recorded data were collected and analyzed for all male transgender patients undergoing mastectomy over a period of 24 years at our department. Results In total, 268 gender-reassigning mastectomies were performed. Several different mastectomy techniques (areolar incision, n=172; sub-mammary incision, n=96) were used according to patients' habitus and breast features. Corresponding to algorithms presented in the current literature, certain breast qualities were matched with a particular mastectomy technique. Overall, small breasts with marginal ptosis and good skin elasticity allowed small areolar incisions as a method of access for glandular removal. In contrast, large breasts and those with heavy ptosis or poor skin elasticity often required larger incisions for breast amputation. The secondary correction rate (38%) was high for gender reassignment mastectomy, as is also reflected by data in the current literature. Secondary correction frequently involved revision of chest wall recontouring, suggesting inadequate removal of the mammary tissue, as well as scar revision, which may reflect intense traction during wound healing (36%). Secondary corrections were performed more often after using small areolar incision techniques (48%) than after using large sub-mammary incisions (21%). Conclusions Choosing the suitable mastectomy technique for each patient requires careful individual evaluation of breast features such as size, degree of ptosis, and skin elasticity in order to maximize patient satisfaction and minimize secondary revisions.

현대 산업 사회에서의 디자인은 기업경영전략의 핵심이자 국가 경쟁력을 결정짓는 중요한 요소이다. 그리고 소비자의 제품 구매의사 결정과정을 디자인 측면에서 보면 제품의 구매과정은 소비자가 선호하는 디자인제품을 가지고 싶다는 디자인 인식 문제로서, 이러한 현상은 제품의 기술적 기능보다는 제품의 심미성이 제품 디자인에 중요한 특성이 되고 있다는 사실을 말해주고 있다. 따라서 디자인 과정에서 가장 중요한 요소라고 할 수 있는 소비자 선호요인의 심미성분석을 통하여 규명함으로써, 새로운 차원의 제품 디자인의 전개가 절실히 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 소비자의 제품선호도와 제품 평가에 영향을 주는 심미성요소를 규명하기 위해 심미성요소에 관한 선행연구와, 제품디자인의 소비자 반응에 대한 고찰을 통해 소비자 선호요인의 중요성을 파악하였다. 그리고 실증연구에서 한국 중국소비자의 7가지 가전제품을 대상으로 각 제품별 선호도 조사와 선호디자인의 심미성 평가를 통하여 소비자의 선호도에 영향을 미치는 심미성요소와 각 제품별로 중요시 여겨지는 심미성요소를 도출하였다. 본 연구는 한국과 중국 소비자들이 선호하는 제품들이 어떠한 심미성요소를 가지고 있는 지와 소비자 선호에 중요한 영향을 미치는 심미성요소를 밝혀 제품디자인에 있어 심미성요소의 가이드라인을 제시하고, 한국과 중국을 대상으로 한 제품디자인 시 활용할 수 있는 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

This study aims to identify the formative features of inflatable fashion that has changed its form or fulfilled specific functions by inserting air between fabrics or between clothes and the human body. Images of inflatable fashion images after the 1990s were collected from the literature and internet data and were analyzed based on the formative features of inflatable design. Through this analysis, it was determined that there were four formative features of inflatable fashion: First, inflatable fashion has functionality. General fashion also has functionality, but inflatable fashion has expanded functionalities such as an air bag effect or insulation due to injected air. Second, the formative potential. Inflatable fashion can be changed into different forms depending on the amount of air injected. Light-weighted air holds up the material of the clothes. So new forms that are different from conventional fashion, which gives inflatable fashion its formative potential, can be suggested. Third, aesthetic expansion. Inflatable fashion when its volume is expanded expresses the beauty of scale, or expresses a voluptuous beauty when part of human body is exaggerated. Fourth, it has an unconstructive characteristic. Space that is visible due to the transparent material of inflatable fashion expresses the intention of the designer to fulfill an unconstructive concept. In conclusion, the formative features of inflatable design have formative significances : practicality, aesthetic significance, semantics and technical significance.
