An increasing number of educators emphasize the affective domain in learning. Affective and cognitive objectives interact and can not be separated from each other. Good emotions and feelings assist students achieving optimally in the cognitive domain. Emotional intelligence harmonizes well with an affective science curriculum. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of EQ(Emotional quotient) improvement program on students' EQ, science achievement, the science related attitudes, and science anxiety. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. Subjects were 168 male and female first grade students in a middle school. A control group was instructed with a traditional teaching method, and an experimental group was instructed using EQ improvement program. Two groups were treated for 42 hours during 14 weeks. Two way ANCOVA and correlation analysis was performed using the SPSS. The results indicated that students who received EQ program got higher EQ and their science anxiety was lowered than students who were in a control group(p<.05). EQ program was not significantly effective on science attitude than the traditional instruction but, in the domain 'the enjoyment of science class' it was effective(p<.05). EQ program was significantly effective on students' achievement than the traditional instruction(p<.05).
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of secondary school SMART education. In order to achieve this, the paper separated the high school which implements the smart education for the high school and the high school which did not apply the smart education concept, then figuring out the answer about what school is more effective, the influence of the smart education concept on the students' emotions and academic achievement. This paper analyzed the effectiveness of SMART Education between Hansol high school in SeJong city and Jungang high school in Gwachen city by using 'schoolinfo (www.schoolinfor.go.kr) SMART education.' This study first presented the SMART Education's concept and characteristics through reviewing some literature, and then categorized the characteristics by using the items included academic achievement and emotional effect. These items consist of the 'students academic scores' for the academic achievement, 'the number of students dropped out' and 'the damage rate of school violence' for the emotional items. The conclusion of this study is that Hansol high school indicates lower school violence rate than Gwachen high schools with the two school's violence rate decreasing. Moreover, students' score of Hansol high school is higher than high schools in Gwachen city. The SMART education school budget structure is 'Common type', which requires a lot of investment to 'Basic education activities', 'educational activities support', 'School general operating expenses' among education budget items.

This study aims to investigate the effects of emotional labor level on the level of job satisfaction and library information service provision in public libraries. The research model used emotional labor levels as an independent variable; job satisfaction and level of library information service provision as a dependent variable; and organizational culture as a control factor. The data were collected randomly from 220 librarians of public libraries in Seoul by distributing and collecting internet surveys. Reliability analysis, correlation coefficient analysis, multiple regression analysis, and regression analysis were performed using the SPSS 18.0 program. The statistic hypothesis test results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, public library librarians did not like to express their emotions to users, trying to express their emotions more positively than what they were actually feeling. Second, although librarians experience emotional labors, they feel a sense of achievement when undertaking their tasks and develop pride and happiness in their work. As librarians perceive their work professional, they overcome emotional labors, and have pride in their work. Third, although librarians experience emotional labors, a reasonable job evaluation with goals, and their relationships with colleagues would lead to accomplishment in their work. In addition, although the evaluation of employees is focused on performance, librarians improve their service if library users are satisfied with their service and the services are provided adequately.

This study examined the effects of cooperative art activities according to visiting a forest on fulfilling young children's leadership ability and happiness. To achieve this, a study was conducted on experimental and non-experimental groups of 20 young children in classes A and B at S kindergarten, and also a group of children of the same age in a similar environment. The 16-session forest experience play activity program was planned for conducting research on the children's leadership ability and happiness fullness when using the Nuri curriculum, and this was carried out on the experimental group for 2 months. The pre- and post-analyses were carried out on the non-experimental group after outdoor activities on the topic of the Nuri curriculum-related activities. The results were as follows. First, cooperative art activities through the forest experience had a positive effect on the children's reinvention ability, human relations, goal achievement and direction power, which are all sub-factors of their leadership. Second, cooperative art activities through the forest experience had a positive effect on positive emotions, commitment, personal relations, meaning and achievement, which are sub-factors of their total happiness. Overall, their cooperative art activities during the forest experience were judged to be facilitating factors that have a positive effect on their leadership and happiness fullness.
Purpose. to help them find mental rest and improve school life adjustment by way of a fine art cure program. Methods. two primary schools in Gyeongsangnam-do were chosen where there are plenty of multiple-family kids. 13 children from the families between Korean husbands and foreign wives were divided into 2 groups: experimental group (7, C School), control group (6, H School). The two groups took the KSD (Kinetic School Draw), while the experimental group received a fine art cure program (40 minutes, once a week, 10 times in total). After the program, the KSD was given again to both groups. To prove the effects of this study, the picture projection test KSD was given before and after the experiment. For comparison and analysis, the changes in each individual's attitude, behavior, responses, and emotions were observed and recorded. Results. The fine art treatment program had some effects on the psychological rest of the elementary school children from multiple-culture families. In the pretest before the art cure program, the subjects shrank and cared a lot about others. According to the progress of the program, however, their worries and anxiety began to be gone. They had confidence through mental ease and self-respect. Therefore, the fine art cure program had a positive effect on the improvement of self-respect and sociality of multiple-culture family kids. Their school life was influenced by the newly-attained confidence, achievement, and peer relationship. Conclusions. This research is of some significance in that the fine art cure program was held to reveal its effects on the school life adjustment of the elementary school kids from multiple-culture families, especially because worries grow about the possibility of their maladjustment in the era of multiple-culture families. In addition, this program is expected to give some basic information about the development of programs to make friendly relations and smooth communication among the multiple-culture parents and teachers as well.

The purpose of this study was to develop a program for the enhancement of Korean married women's quality of life(LQ) based on the results of the first year study(1996) and the second year research(1998). In order to construct a program, a psycological type test was conducted to 505 women and four preliminary programs were carried out focusing on self-esteem, understanding of one's own personality dynamics, efficient communication, positive emotion, social belongingness and expressions of feelings of unfinished business. For the final program, Jung's theory of psychological type(MBTI, Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama were applied. An experimental and a control group were designed consisting 16 women for each group. The program was carried out for 6 weeks for the experimental group. The result of treatment were as follows: 1) There was a difference statistically in LQ related to family harmony, serif-achievement and improvement of relationship with in-laws. 2) There was a statistical change in psychological factors of expression of feelings, self-esttem, communication, and positive emotions. 3) The program participants self reports indicate that the program was effective for the reconstruction of family relationship, self-understanding, group coherence, and instigation of hope. The reports also shows that the program was effective for the perceptual changes in parent-child, wife-husband and siblings' relationships. In conclusion, the program developed for the enhancement of Korean married women's life quality(LQ) based on the Jung's psychological type theory, Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama was erective for the improvement of LQ.

Providing appropriate interactions between learner and e- Learning system is an essential factor of a successful e-Learning system. Although many interaction functions are employed in multimedia Web-based Instruction content, learner experience a lack of similar feedbacks from educators in real- time due to the limitation of Human-Computer Interaction techniques. In this paper, an emotion recognition system via learner facial expressions has been developed and applied to a tutoring system. As human educators do, the system observes learners' emotions from facial expressions and provides any or all pertinent feedback. And various feedbacks can bring to motivations and get rid of isolation from e-Learning environments by oneself. The test results showed that this system may provide significant improvement in terms of interesting and educational achievement.
The purpose of this study wasto analyze the factors that enhance their learning achievement in a fieldtrip environment. For this academic goal, we analyzed a pattern of fieldtrip-related perception and attitudes of 19 science-talented students who participated in the 2007 KESO winter school. As for the perception type, the result of analysis showed that the science-talented students understood a fieldtrip as an experimental inquiry from an inquiry perspective, and that their understanding about a fieldtrip was based on anthropocentrism, positivism and instrumentalism from a science philosophy perspective. Regarding theattitudes type, the result revealed that the purpose of the winter school was mainly to learn knowledge in earth science, and that there was a significant tendency for the participating students to become a future scientist more eagerly than their parents expected. Students' fieldtrip-related academic self-concept was mostly positive while the participants experienced both positive and negative emotions.
The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of the perceptions and conditions of happiness between children and adolescents, and also of the perceptions of happiness according to their needs level of the conditions of happiness. There was a total of 649 participants, of which 405 were children and 244 were adolescents, all of whom were attending elementary school, middle school, or high school. The children and adolescents completed a questionnaire on the perceptions of happiness and the conditions of happiness which consisted of 57 (for children) or 58 (for adolescents) items. The results were as follows: First, children and adolescents both felt happy regarding the variables of 'flow', 'health and appearance', 'leisure' and 'interpersonal relations'. However, it was found that children felt happier than adolescents. Second, children and adolescents perceived achievement-related variables as important conditions of happiness. Additionally, variables of 'relations with parents and relatives' and 'positive emotions' were the conditions that children needed. However, adolescents rated the needs of the conditions of happiness higher than children. Lastly, children and adolescent groups who perceived the necessity of the conditions of happiness at a high level were found to be happier than those who perceived the necessity of the conditions of happiness at a low level. The findings have implications of providing educational, psychological and environmental support to improve the happiness of children and adolescents.
Purpose: Smoking among adolescents is a critical healthcare concern that needs to be tackled with respect to not only intrapersonal and interpersonal factors but also socio-cultural factors. This study was to identify the smoking behaviors and amount of tobacco consumption among adolescents, and to investigate the factors associated with the behaviors and amount. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted based on the theory of triadic influence using a nationally representative secondary data set, the 2018 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (N=60,040). The analysis was performed by dividing smoking behaviors into lifetime, current, and daily smoking, and smoking amount into light, moderate, and heavy smoking. Descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted. Results: Overall, 8.2%, 3.2% and 3.4% of the adolescents were involved in lifetime, current, and daily smoking, respectively. In addition, 5.3%, 0.8%, and 0.6% of the adolescents were involved in light, moderate, and heavy smoking, respectively. The factor associated with smoking behaviors and the amount of tobacco consumed were gender, academic achievement, depression, living with family, close friend's smoking, violent victimization, household economic status, and school level (all ps<.05). Conclusion: A considerable number of adolescents are engaged in risky smoking behaviors and consume large amounts of tobacco. Adolescents who said yes to peer smoking, violent victimization, not living with their family, and depressive emotions were more likely to engage in risky smoking behaviors and consume large amounts of tobacco. Tailored interventions to decrease smoking should be planed and provided, while considering the school and home environment and individual needs of adolescents.
