  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of major satisfaction in the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic achievement among nursing students. Methods: Data were collected from 142 nursing students from March 5 to March 9, 2018, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0 for Windows. Results: Academic self-efficacy had a significant effect on both major satisfaction (${\beta}=.31$, p<.001), and academic achievement (${\beta}=.43$, p<.001). The parameter of major satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on the dependent variable, academic achievement (${\beta}=.22$, p=.007), and the independent variable, academic self-efficacy, also had a significant effect on academic achievement (${\beta}=.39$, p<.001). Thus, major satisfaction was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between academic self efficacy and academic achievement. The Sobel test showed that the path of the academic achievement and academic self efficacy variables was significantly mediated by major satisfaction (Z=2.99, p=.003). Conclusion: Academic self-efficacy was found to affect academic achievement, and major satisfaction was found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between academic self efficacy and academic achievement.

  • Purpose: This study examined the suitability of using text network analysis (TNA) methodology for topic analysis of academic papers related to nursing. Methods: TNA background theories, software programs, and research processes have been described in this paper. Additionally, the research methodology that applied TNA to the topic analysis of the academic nursing papers was analyzed. Results: As background theories for the study, we explained information theory, word co-occurrence analysis, graph theory, network theory, and social network analysis. The TNA procedure was described as follows: 1) collection of academic articles, 2) text extraction, 3) preprocessing, 4) generation of word co-occurrence matrices, 5) social network analysis, and 6) interpretation and discussion. Conclusion: TNA using author-keywords has several advantages. It can utilize recognized terms such as MeSH headings or terms chosen by professionals, and it saves time and effort. Additionally, the study emphasizes the necessity of developing a sophisticated research design that explores nursing research trends in a multidimensional method by applying TNA methodology.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of self-directed learning ability and self-leadership on the learning satisfaction and academic achievement of nursing students who experienced blended learning. Methods: This research was conducted from June 29 to July 17, 2023, targeting nursing students from three universities in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon who had experienced blended learning. The collected data were analyzed using a independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression utilizing IBM SPSS 25.0. Results: Self-directed learning ability, self-leadership, learning satisfaction, and academic achievement were all found to have positive correlations. The research variables that showed a significant effect on learning satisfaction were self-directed learning ability (β=.34, p<.001) and self-leadership (β=.19, p=.041), and the explanatory power was 28.0%. The research variable that showed a significant effect on academic achievement was self-directed learning ability (β=.56, p<.001), with an explanatory power of 40.0%. Conclusion: To effectively apply blended learning to nursing students in the rapidly changing field of nursing education, it is important to analyze learner factors such as self-directed learning ability and self-leadership. Continuing research is needed to explore the learner factors that influence learning satisfaction and academic achievement, and systematic educational programs that can improve these factors will have to be applied.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of nursing students' self-reflection and insight, and academic selfefficacy on their clinical reasoning competence. Methods: Data were collected from 147 third- and fourth-year nursing students who had more than 6 months of clinical training experience. Clinical reasoning competence, self-reflection and insight, and academic self-efficacy were measured using self-reported questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted with IBM SPSS 25.0 using one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Clinical reasoning competence was positively correlated with self-reflection and insight (r=.24, p=.003) and academic self-efficacy (r=.30, p<.001). Academic self-efficacy (β=.23, p=.011), dissatisfaction with major (β=-.17, p=.034), and 5~8 case studies (β=-.39, p=.027) were identified as factors influencing clinical reasoning competence (adjusted R2=.15). Conclusion: To improve the clinical reasoning competence of nursing students, it is necessary to develop the academic self-efficacy of complex cases and provide critical inquiries, debriefing tailored to clinical reasoning, and sufficient reflection during clinical and simulation practice.
