  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the root resorption and repair pattern of human teeth under intrusive orthodontic loadings of varying magnitude and duration. 50 gms, 100 gms, 200 gms of force applied to the 96 experimental teeth with duration of 2, 5, 7, 10 weeks, after removing the arch wire and retaining during 2 and 6 weeks, experimental teeth were extracted. Results were as follows: 1. The initial resorption site was visible in the apex within 2 weeks with 50 gms, 100 gms samples. 2. The sites of resorption increased markedly with duration of the force. 3. The 50 grams samples of the all duration reveal the shallow resorption and the 100 gms samples of the all duration except 2 weeks reveal the shallow and deep resorption sites. 4. After 7 weeks with 50 gms and 100 gms, cellular cementum repair accompanied the continuing resorption. 5. 2 and 6 weeks after removing the force with 200 gms, the same cellular cementum repair accompanied with 50 gms, 100 gms samples.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to determine the position of the mental foramen relative to the apices of the teeth based on panoramic radiographs in a Moroccan population. We also analyzed gender differences and the symmetry of location within individuals. Materials and Methods: Seven hundred ninety-four panoramic radiographs were evaluated with regard to the location and symmetry of the mental foramina in male and female subjects. The results were analyzed using Pearson's ${\chi}^2$ and Fisher's exact test. Results: Of the 794 panoramic radiographs, 377 met the inclusion criteria for at least one side. The mental foramen was located just below the apex of the second premolar in 62.7% of the patients and between the first and second premolars in 30%. It was symmetrically located in 79%. No statistically significant differences were found between males and females in the position and symmetry of the mental foramen. Conclusion: The most common position for the mental foramen in this sample was in line with the second premolar.

  • Utilizing the repelling force of permanent magnet of find out weather it shows the findings of molar intrusion histologically and compares the result with the resin bite plane. As for the experimental animals, 10 cats of completion of permanent dentition with mean weight of 2.2kg which have flat occlusal plane of molar areas were used. I raised the cats under the condition of their being attached with manufactured appliance by direct bonding system and of their wearing vertical chin strap anesthetized for 12-14 hours per day through 5 days. Then, observing the root apex areas with lightmicroscope. The results were as follows; 1. In the group with resin bite plane, osteoblasts and osteoclasts could not find out but could find out periodontal ligment fiber obliquely angulated in the apical and lingual direction. 2. In the group with the permanent magnet, not only the obliquely angulated periodontal ligament fiber but also the osteoclasts at the apical areas were observed.

  • This paper has been studied a Adaptive Mutation rate Genetic Algorithm Processor. Genetic Algorithm(GA) has some control parameters such as the probability of bit mutation or the probability of crossover. These value give a priori by the designer There exists a wide variety of values for for control parameters and it is difficult to find the best choice of these values in order to optimize the behavior of a particular GA. We proposed a Adaptive mutation rate GA within a steady-state genetic algorithm in order to provide a self-adapting mutation mechanism. In this paper, the proposed a adaptive mutation rate GAP is implemented on the FPGA board with a APEX EP20K600EBC652-3 devices. The proposed a adaptive mutation rate GAP increased the speed of finding optimal solution by about 10%, and increased probability of finding the optimal solution more than the conventional GAP

  • Demands on dealing with multimedia data through the network have been increased, and networking multimedia devices require processing, transmitting , and receiving the digital data. In order to implement the network for high performance and low cost, we may have to integrate the dedicated hardware into a system on a chip by spending an extra amount of silicon resource. In this paper, we describe hardware implementation of TCP/IP protocol stack which is now popular to connect multiple PCs and peripherals by means of networks. For evaluation we used ALTERA APEX 20K600EBC652 FPGA with 600,000 gates. The operating frequency is estimated 29.9MHz and it used area of $26\%$.

  • Probe storage is one of the strong candidates for future mobile storage device since it has potential of recording density over I $Tb/in^2$ with r/w speed over 100 Mbps. It also uses silicon-processing technology that suits the purpose of small form factor. In this paper, write characteristics of resistive probe that can rotate the field direction of PZT by field-induced resistance changes in a small resistive region at the apex of the tip will be presented. Also, the relationship between the size of tip and the available write width is investigated for different source bias conditions. For this study, two-dimensional computer simulation ($SILVACO^{TM}$) was performed. With optimum design, the width of the writing electric field can be smaller than 50nm

  • This study aims to design a zonal lumen for parking garage LED lightings of a slim appearance and 20 W/2,000 lm capacity and to fabricate a lighting luminaire accordingly. The frame is of a one-dimensional bar type with a reverse V-shaped section, with LED chips arranged along both sides. To maximize the $60^{\circ}$ to $80^{\circ}$ zonal lumen, the geometric structure was designed with the apex of the reverse V-shaped section at $40^{\circ}$ and both sides at $70^{\circ}$. As for the LED light source, focusing lenses with narrower full-width half-maximum (FWHM) in luminous intensity were used. A ray-tracing simulation method was utilized for the zonal lumen simulation of the given structure. An actual hardware of luminaire based on the simulation results was fabricated and characterized. The suggested model is meant to develop LED lightings with a proper level of zonal lumen required in parking garages.

  • Dysplastic epiglottis is extremely rare congenital malformation, which usually occurs in association with other laryngeal anomalies. Hypoplasia is the most common type in epiglottic malfomations. Other abnormalities include rudimentary, aplasia and bifid etc. Mostly, they are found in infancy and early childhood, and diagnosis at adulthood is extremely rare. A 69-year-old man with chronic cough and globus sense visited our clinic. Laryngoscopic findings revealed a unique form of epiglottis. He had no history of laryngeal trauma, tumors, head and neck surgery, and radiation. There was no another anomaly in the laryngo-pharynx. Because of a mass-like lesion at the apex of epiglottis, we performed the laryngeal microsurgery. The pathology revealed as granulation tissue. We report a rare and unique case of dysplastic epiglottis in elderly patient with a brief literature review.

  • The plant shoot meristem maintains a group of stem cells that remain active throughout the plant life. They continuously generate new cells that are then recruited for organ initiation in the peripheral zone. Stem cell proliferation and daughter cell differentiation has to be integrated with overall growth and development of the diverse functional domains within the shoot apex. Several studies have revealed extensive communication between these domains. The signaling mechanisms employed comprise diffusible peptides, directional transport of plant hormones, but also complex interactions between transcription factors, that together establish a panoply of regulatory inputs that fine-tune stem cell behavior in the shoot meristem.

  • A 6 year-old, spayed female, Maltese dog was presented with precordial thrill and mild coughing. Thoracic auscultation revealed a grade V/VI systolic murmur with maximal intensity over the left apex characterized by musical murmur. Echocardiography revealed mild myxomatous degeneration of mitral valve and ruptured chordae tendineae. Musical murmur was produced due to the vibration of ruptured piece of chordae tendineae along with regurgitant flow. After treatment with furosemide and ramipril, clinical signs resolved and precordial thrill reduced. This case report describes typical clinical signs and phonocardiogram of musical murmur in a dog with acute chordae tendineae rupture.
