  • Analysis of Means(ANOM) is a visualization tool for comparing several means to the grand mean like control chart type. This paper reviews five ANOM methods for continuous data such as ANOM, ANOME (ANOM for Treatment Effects), ANCON (Analysis of Contrasts), ANOMV (ANOM for Variance), ANOMC (ANOM for Correaltion). Three ANOM tools for discrete data such as ANOMNP (ANOM for Nonconforming Proportions), ANOMNC (ANOM for Nonconforming Unit), ANOMNPU (ANOM for Nonconfirmities Per Unit) are also developed.

  • To find the working condition is one of the important factors in precision machining. In this study, we analyzed maximum working temperature by infra-red camera and surface roughness in side wall end milling using design of experiment (DOE): RSM(response surface methodology), ANOM(analysis of means) and ANOVA(analysis of variance) by table of orthogonal array. ANOM and ANOVA are well adapted to select sensitivity of design variables for maximum working temperature and surface roughness. The effective design variables and their levels should be determined using ANOM, ANOVA. RSM is presented 2nd order approximation polynomial of maximum working temperature and surface roughness is composed with design variables. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed procedure using design of experiment : table of orthogonal array, ANOM, ANOVA and RSM can be easily utilized to solve the problem of working condition.

  • On this study, we optimized maximizing the thrust force at the TFLM(Transverse Flux Linear Motor) using design of experiments by the table of orthogonal array and the analysis of means(ANOM), and classified the most contributive design factor maximizing the thrust force at the TFLM by analysis of variance(ANOVA). From now on, we are going to apply the required technique to design various uses and shapes of the TFLM.

Resin Chock 교반기용 임펠러가 달린 축의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of Shaft with Impeller for Resin Chock Mixing Machine)

  • This paper deals with the dynamic characteristics of the shaft with impeller model which is the most important part in developing the resin mixing machine. Through reverse engineering, it is possible to make the shaft with impeller geometry model which is necessary vibration characteristic analysis by commercial impeller. The natural frequency analysis and structural analysis using finite element analysis software are performed on the imported commercial shaft with impeller model. The most important fundamental natural frequency of the shaft with impeller model is around 14.5 Hz, which well agrees with modal testing. The most effective design variables were extracted by ANOM(analysis of means) and pareto chart. This paper presents approximation 2nd order polynomial as design variables using RSM(response surface methodology). Generally, RSM take 2 or 3 design variables, but this method uses 5 design variables with table of mixed orthogonal array. Further more, the analyzed result of the commercial shaft with impeller is to be utilized for the structural design of resin chock mixing machine.

  • 솔레노이드 밸브는 구조에 따라 스풀 밸브와 포핏 밸브로 구분된다. 구조가 단순하고 오염에 민감한 스풀 밸브에 대하여 연구가 많이 진행되고 있는 반면 오염에 덜 민감하고 장시간 작동에 용이한 포핏 밸브는 구조가 복잡하여 여전히 많은 연구가 필요하다. 포핏 밸브를 설계하기 위해서 고려해야 하는 사항으로 포핏의 직경, 포핏의 각도, 디스크의 지름, 스프링 강성, 스프링 예하중, 유로 구조 등 다양한 설계변수가 있다. 기존 연구에서는 설계변수를 한가지로 선정하여 연구가 진행되었고, 설계변수가 포핏 밸브의 유동특성에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구가 부족하다. 본 논문에서는 3/2Way 솔레노이드 밸브용 포핏 밸브의 설계변수 변화에 따른 유동특성의 변화를 분석하였다. 포핏 밸브의 설계변수 선정은 선행연구된 사례와 초기모델해석결과를 참고하여 진행하였다. 그리고 설계변수에 따른 최대압력, 최소압력, 압력강하의 영향을 평균분석(ANOM)을 사용하여 살펴보았다. 향후 3/2Way 솔레노이드 밸브용 포핏 밸브를 설계할 때 주효과를 파악하여 설계변수 선정에 사용하면 효율적인 설계변수 선정이 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

교호작용을 고려한 이산설계 공간에서의 Steering System 설계 (Design of Steering System Considering Interaction Effects in Discrete Design Space)

  • The design of experiment(DOE) with orthogonal arrays is adopted when the engineering design is needed in a discrete design space. In this research, a design process with orthogonal array is peformed to obtain the optimum design which satisfy the frequency target of the steering system. The optimum design is determined from the analysis of means(ANOM) and sensitivity information about design variables is evaluated by the analysis of variance(ANOVA). Interactions between design variables are investigated to achieve additivity which should be valid in using orthogonal array. It is shown that when strong interactions exist, the DOE process with orthogonal array considering interaction is introduced to find out optimum design.

  • This study uses a characteristic function to explain correlations between the objective function and design variables. Analysis of means and table of orthogonal array were carried out. The change of shape of diaphragm, thickness of diaphragm and voice coil weight based on the table of orthogonal array Is made. Therefore this study carried to decide design variables for minimizing 1st natural frequency and maximizing 2nd natural frequency of diaphragm using design of experiments and characteristic function with constraints. we showed improved design variables.

  • The design of experiment(DOE) is getting more attention in the engineering community since it is easy to understand and apply. Recently, engineering designers are adopting DOE with orthogonal arrays when they want to design products in a discrete design space. In this research, a design flow with orthogonal arrays is defined fur structural design according to the general DOE. The design problem is defined as a general structural optimization problem. Sensitivity information is evaluated by the analysis of variance(ANOVA), and an optimum design is determined from analysis of means(ANOM). Interactions between design variables are investigated to achieve additivity which should be valid in DOE. When strong interactions exit, a method is proposed. Some methods to consider the problem are suggested.

  • On this study, we improved diaphgram for micro speaker performance using Taguchi method in discrete design space. The design of diaphgram has an effect on performance of micro speaker such as, thickness of diaphgram, shape of diaphgram, etc. Therefore this study carried to decide shape of diaphgram and thickness of diaphgram for minimizing 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram using Taguchi method. we showed improved design factors that minimized 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram. Also, 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram for micro speaker is reduced up to 37 percent maintaining twist mode shape. From the results of ANOVA, 2nd natural frequency of diaphgram for micro speaker have an effect on position of the outer curved shape and thickness of diaphgram.
