Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the awareness improvement of atopic dermatitis(AD) for AD children's parents and to evaluate the mental health condition of AD children and QoL of their parents. Methods : We conducted elementary school visit education(the first education) and recruited children and parents who wanted to participate the hospital visit education(the Second education). In the first education, we lectured about AD, performed survey about QoL and awareness about AD and obtained 48 valid results. In the second education, we performed an education for AD again, skin condition evaluation, mental health analysis survey and obtained 29 valid results. We compared the AD and non-AD groups of each education in the first and second education. We assessed atopic awareness, FDLQI, DFI, CDI, BAI, and KISE scores by gender, age, duration of disease, onset, and severity of AD. Results : Despite children with AD, the survey showed their parents lacked knowledge about AD. However, they acquired the necessary knowledge in AD education. There was a significant difference in the total score of Atopic awareness between the AD group in the first education and the AD group in the second education. (p=0.042) In addition, the CDI and BAI scores of all patients were divided by the duration of disease, and it was estimated that depression and anxiety disorders may be aggravated by longer term illness. Conclusions and Discussions : This study confirmed duration of AD affects AD children's mental health, and verified positive changes in atopic awareness after AD education.
Purpose: This study was performed to identify the level of Korean elderly's knowledge regarding concepts of end-of-life (EOL), Life-sustaining-treatment (LST), and advance directives (AD) which are critical aspects for establishing AD in Korean society. Methods: A questionnaire survey was done between October 2011 and February 2012. Knowledge of AD was evaluated with 3 aspects including EOL, LST, and AD utilizing a questionnaire that was developed by authors for the study. Data were collected from 268 community dwelling elderly from three cities and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and a Scheffe post hoc test with SAS Ver. 9.1 program. Results: Overall, Korean elderly were poorly acquainted with AD related concepts. Significant differences in awareness of AD including understanding of EOL, the level of comprehension of LST, and knowledge about AD were revealed by gender, education level, economic state, and acquaintance with terms of AD or LST. Conclusion: To acknowledge autonomy and support quality of life for elderly and to meet the purpose of AD, attention should be given to target populations including elderly in terms of knowledge level related to AD, social marketing, and infra structure relevant to practice AD in our society.
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is believed to be associated with the intake of antioxidant nutrients and fatty acids due to its immunological dysfunction. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of nutrition education promoting vegetable, fruit, and fish intake on the severity of AD in children. Children with AD aged 6 months to 5 years were randomly assigned into education and control groups, and followed for 1 year. Seventy-six children completed the study (38 for control, 38 for education). The education group received education promoting the intakes of antioxidant-rich foods (vegetables, fruits) and n-3 fatty acid foods (fish). A 24-hour food recall was collected for the diet information. After education, all vegetables (p < 0.001), fruits (p < 0.01), and fish (p < 0.05) intakes per 1000 kcal increased significantly in the education group, whereas only vegetable intake increased in the control group (p < 0.001). The SCORAD index, the severity of atopic dermatitis, decreased significantly in the education group (p < 0.05). Increased consumption of dietary vitamin E was significantly associated with reduction in the SCORAD index, after adjusting for age and gender (p < 0.05). A nutritional education program to increase vegetable, fruit, and fish intake may be effective in reducing the severity of AD, and vitamin E intake may be associated with the decreased severity of AD. More controlled studies on the relationship between these intakes and severity of AD, with intensive diet and/or supplement intervention programs, are needed to obtain conclusive results.

At container terminals, a major measurement of productivity can be work efficiency. For improving the productivity of container crane, the more efficient container yard operation method is necessary in container terminals. Recently, container terminal operators make an experiment on the dual cycle operation, which ship loading/unloading were carried out simultaneously, for increasing the productivity of container crane. In this paper, propose a system operating efficient dual cycle methods as utilize Ad-hoc technology in distributed port operation system. The dual cycle methods that proposed recognizes position information of Y/T during an action in Ad-hoc networks in case of container transfer works by real time as load an Ad-hoc module to Y/T taking charge of a container transfer with quay and yard. Utilize Ad-hoc networks technology in an operating system of container yard, and efficiently distributed processing done Y/T to container crane compare with operation systems of the existing dedicated method, and an improvement can do an operating system of an yard.
Purpose: This study evaluates the feasibility of Korean Advance Directives (K-AD) developed earlier. Method: From January 1 to February 28, 2013, data were collected from 330 adults through a self-reported questionnaire established by the authors based on literature review and expert consultation. The feasibility of K-AD was multi-dimensionally evaluated through four criteria: cognitive, psychological, document making and socially expecting aspects. Data were analyzed using t tests, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe post hoc tests via the SAS 9.1.3 program. Results: The feasibility of K-AD differed significantly by gender (p=.003), educational level (p<.001), religion (p=.002), and self-reported health status (p=.039). Differences in the level of easiness with K-AD by gender (p=.008) and education (p=.047) were significant. Perceived simplicity of AD differed significantly by religion (p=.005), and the necessity of AD differed significantly by gender (p=.025) and religion (p=.005). Conclusion: K-AD are sufficiently feasible to be tentatively utilized in practice. This is the first study to explore the feasibility of K-AD on the basis of multiple aspects. However, further studies involving diverse populations and methodologies to validate the usefulness of K-AD are warranted.
The aim of this study was to analyze characteristics of teachers' knowledge about reductio ad absurdum. In order to achieve the aim, this study conducted didactical analysis about reductio ad absurdum through examining previous researches and developed a questionnaire with reference to the results of the analysis. The questionnaire was given to 34 high school teachers and qualitative methods were used to analyze the data obtained from the written responses by the participants. This study also elaborated the framework descriptors for interpreting the teachers' responses in the light of the didactical analysis and the data was elucidated in terms of this framework. The specific features of teachers' knowledge about reductio ad absurdum were categorized into five types as a result. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify prevalence rates of atopic dermatitis (AD) in middle school students in Korea and to define AD and associated factors. Methods: This study was conducted using secondary analysis of raw data from the 'The 6th Korean National Adolescent Health Behavior Survey, 2010' conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control. The participants were 37,570 students. General characteristics and health behavior-related characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test and logistic regression analysis. Results: Results are as follows. 1. There were 8,494 middle school students (22.6%), who had been diagnosed with AD during the last 12 months. 2. Factors associated with AD in middle school students were gender (p<.001), grade level (p=.001), father's education (p<.001), mother's education (p=.032), regular dietary habits (breakfasts, p=.025; lunches; p=.003), stress (p<.001), recognition of subjective awareness of one's health conditions (p<.001), hand washing before meals at school (p=.013), and cessation education for both smoking (p=.002) and alcohol (p=.031). Conclusion: Results of the study indicate that in order to alleviate AD symptoms in these students, there is a need to develop nursing interventions and education programs taking into consideration these variables and verifying the effects of interventions and programs.
The present study examined differences in children's behavior problems and peer interaction, and parental factors including self-esteem, depression and childrearing stress between atopic dermatitis(AD) and normal(non-AD) children in each gender, and analyzed the effects of the parental factors on the two variables of AD children. 165 AD and 1176 non-AD children of age 5 were selected from the 6th year data of the Panel Study on Korean Children. The results from t-test and multiple regression are as follows. First, only AD boys showed a higher level of behavior problems than non-AD boys, but peer interaction showed no difference between AD and non-AD groups. Compared with non-AD children's parents, mothers of AD children showed a higher stress level and mothers of AD boys had a higher depression level. But there were no differences in maternal self-esteem and paternal factors between the groups. Second, AD boys' behavior problems were related to maternal factors and paternal stress, and some characteristics of AD girls' behavior problems were related with some parental variables. But peer interaction of AD children had no relation with parental factors. Third, behavior problems were influenced by maternal stress in AD boys and influenced by maternal depression and parental self-esteem in AD girls.
