  • The conventional training set selection methods for the satellite image classification usually depend on the manual selection using data from the direct measurements of the ground or the ground map. However this task takes much time and cost, and some feature values vary in wide ranges even if they are in the same class. Such feature values can increase the robustness of the neural net but learning time becomes longer. In this paper,we propose anew training set selection algorithm using a rule-based method. By the technique proposed, the SPOT multispectral Imagery is classified in 3 bands, and the pixels which satisfy the rule are employed as the training sets for the neutralist classifier. The experimental results show faster initial convergence and almost the same or better classification accuracy. We also showed an improvement of the classification accuracy by using texture features and NDV1.

  • Bladder cancer is the seventh most common cancer in men that smoke, and the incidence of disease increases with age. The mechanism of occurrence has not yet been established. Potassium channels have been linked with cell proliferation. Some two-pore domain $K^+$ channels (K2P), such as TASK3 and TREK1, have recently been shown to be overexpressed in cancer cells. Here we focused on the relationship between cell growth and the mechanosensitive K2P channel, TREK2, in the human bladder cancer cell line, 253J. We confirmed that TREK2 was expressed in bladder cancer cell lines by Western blot and quantitative real-time PCR. Using the patch-clamp technique, the mechanosensitive TREK2 channel was recorded in the presence of symmetrical 150 mM KCl solutions. In 253J cells, the TREK2 channel was activated by polyunsaturated fatty acids, intracellular acidosis at -60 mV and mechanical stretch at -40 mV or 40 mV. Furthermore, small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated TREK2 knockdown resulted in a slight depolarization from $-19.9mV{\pm}0.8$ (n=116) to $-8.5mV{\pm}1.4$ (n=74) and decreased proliferation of 253J cells, compared to negative control siRNA. 253J cells treated with TREK2 siRNA showed a significant increase in the expression of cell cycle boundary proteins p21 and p53 and also a remarkable decrease in protein expression of cyclins D1 and D3. Taken together, the TREK2 channel is present in bladder cancer cell lines and may, at least in part, contribute to cell cycle-dependent growth.

  • The goal of this study was to apply an expectancy-value model(Wigfield & Eccles, 2000) to explain changes in six multi-ethnic students' achievement motivation in mathematics during sixth (2012) to eighth (2014) grades. In order to achieve this goal, we used narrative research methods. Although individual students' achievement motivation and mathematics related life experiences differed, there are some common factors influencing their motivation development, especially (a) roles played by parents and teachers; (b) assessment of peers' competencies; (c) past learning experiences related to mathematics curriculum; (d) perception of the relationship between mathematics competency and other subjects; (e) home backgrounds; and (f) perceived task values. In this study, we achieved some insight into why some multi-ethnic students are willing to study hard to get good scores while others are uninterested in mathematics, and why some multi-ethnic students are likely to pursue new mathematical tasks and persist despite challenges, while others easily give up studying mathematics in the face of adversity. We argue that in order to increase and sustain multi-ethnic students' achievement motivation, educators and parents should recognize that motivation is contextually formulated in the intersection of current people, time, and space, not a personal entity formed in an individual's mind. The findings of this study shed light on the development of achievement motivation and can inform efforts to develop multi-ethnic students' positive motivation, which might influence their mathematics achievement and success in school.

  • Recently, product design innovation to improve user experience has been perceived as a core element of enterprise competitiveness due to the fierce market competition and decrease of the technological gap between companies, but there is insufficient services to support the product experience evaluation of small and medium-sized companies (SMCs). The aim of this study is to develop a web-based product user experience evaluation and certification system supporting product design practices for SMCs. For system interface design, we conducted systematic functional requirement elicitation methods such as user survey, workflow analysis, user task definition, and function definition. Then main functions, information structure, navigation method, and detailed graphic user interfaces were developed with consideration of user interactions and requirements. In particular, it provides the databases for evaluation efficiency to support the evaluation process above a certain level of performance and efficiency, and knowledge databases to utilize in the evaluation and product design improvement. With help of the developed service platform, It is expected that the service platform would enhance SMCs' product development capability with regard to the user experience evaluation by connecting the consulting firms with SMCs.

  • Establishing career goals and making a career choice is the most crucial task for college students. This study aims to identify the motive of college students' career choices and analyze the relationship between career capabilities and career decision-making in order to provide basic materials that can assist college students in the career decision-making process. To do this, a survey was conducted among college students attending a D university in Busan. A total of 326 survey responses were selected for analysis, and path analysis was conducted using SPSS 25 and AMOS 25. The results of the study are as follows. First, intrinsic motivation for career choice and extrinsic motivation for career choice were found to affect career consideration and career management capabilities, respectively, with statistical significance. Second, career consideration and career path management capabilities influenced both concreteness and confidence, which are elements of career decision-making with statistical significance. Intrinsic motivation for career choice and extrinsic motivation for career choice affected concreteness and confidence in career decision-making with career consideration and career management capabilities as parameters. These findings imply that in order to increase the concreteness and confidence in the career decision-making of undergraduate students, it is necessary to strengthen their career consideration and career management capabilities. As the unemployment rate of youths rises and the types and specialization of jobs increase amid uncertainty in the future employment conditions, undergraduate students face increasing difficulties in career decision-making. The results of this research are expected to be used as basic materials for the career decision-making of undergraduate students, which will assists in career path consultation and guidance in universities.
