Performance Analysis of TWR Positioning Technique with Ultra Wideband in Indoor Channel (실내 환경에서 초광대역 무선통신을 이용한 양방향 위치인식 기법의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze the two way ranging (TWR) positioning technique using ultra wideband (UWB) for indoor environment. We employed IEEE 802.15.3a channel as a simulation environment and used to time of arrival (TOA) algorithm. UWB technology in a low transmission power the less the effect of interfering with the existing system, the frequency can be shared so that it can improve the spectral efficiency. And, positioning technique based on UWB with a very narrow pulse width has high accuracy in indoor environment. From the simulation results, it is analyzed the probability of error and positioning performance for channel effects and confirmed usefulness of the proposed scheme.

  • The WBAN technology means a short distance wireless network which provides each device's interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body located within 3 meters. Standardization on the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and application layer is in progress by IEEE 802.15.6 TG BAN. It is necessary to develop the WBAN core technology that sensor node device, WBAN middleware and WBAN application service for WBAN environment. In this paper we designed the medical message structure and implemented medical application for purpose of vital information reliability. The message structure was proposed for WBAN environment and application can be check biometric information from BN on smart device through WBAN gateway.

  • In this paper, we evaluated Ultra Wideband MC-CDMA system which is the combination of DS-CDMA and OFDM systems, which have been drafting in current standardization for IEEE802.15.3a. Too many Rake Fingers are demanded in the DS-CDMA system to detect multi-path signals, which results in high system complexity. OFDM system fails to qualify for FCC certification unless frequency hopping is off. MC-CDMA has lower complexity compared to DS-CDMA and shows good performance against frequency selective fading. In addition, for a wide-band communication, less radio power per spectrum is allowed in the MC-CDMA system than in an OFDM system. The MC-CDMA system is analyzed by a numerical formula and compared with DS-CDMA and OFDM by a computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a novel superframe formation algorithm for wireless systems with time-slotted superframe structure. The design objective of the proposed algorithm is to provide high performance, stability, error tolerance, as well as power-saving features. The paper presents a comprehensive performance analysis of the Proposed superframe formation algorithm with different types of traffic applied. During analysis several performance metrics are investigated. The error tolerance to beacon loss and the behavior of CBR flows are also studied. We show that the proposed algorithm inherits the advantages of the previously used algorithms, while providing additional features.

  • In this paper, we propose joint estimation methods of carrier offset and channel estimation for MB-OFDM system with low complexity. The proposed methods estimate the channel by using low-rank LMMSE channel estimation which reduces the system complexity by applying the optimal number of rank to evaluate the frequency offset and additionally using the simple algorithm using the auto-correlation property of the estimated channel. We simulate the proposed algorithms under the IEEE 802.15 TG3a UWB channel model.

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze the LMS ard RLS algorithm of IEEE802.15.3(HDR-WPAN) system. The LMS algorithm have two merits that easily embody and not complex, but convergence speed is slow. The RLS algorithm have fast convergence speed, but very complex. When equalization using LMS algorithm, it can achieve adaptive equalization after 250 sample in fading environment, but case of RLS algorithm can achieve adaptive equalization after just 50 sampls. The computer simulation proved that adaptive equalizer to fast equalization and stability of HDR-WPAN system is more effective using RLS algorithm then LMS algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose new detection and detour methods against packet drop attacks for availability in the Internet of Things (IoT) based on the IEEE 802.15.4e and RPL protocol standards that employ IPv6. We consider the rank value of RPL and the consecutive packet drops to improve the detection metrics, and also take into account the use of both sibling and child nodes on a RPL routing path to construct the detour method. Our simulation results show that the proposed detection method is faster than the previous result, and the detour method improves the detour success rate.

  • This paper, mathematically analyzes the performance of newly proposed TR-UWB system which the frequency components of a UWB pulse were processed so that the system could be implemented with ADCs of a few MHz sampling rate, and presents the comparison with an existing frequency-domain based TR-UWB system. The comparison is mainly based on the SNR ratio which depends on the mean and the variance of the frequency components. We also shows that the simulation results to support the theoretical analysis where the comparison is made under the IEEE 802.15.3a channel model as well as AWGN channel.

  • On Handoff, existing AP search has chosen one of various APs according to signal strength. However IEEE 802.11 uses Medium Access method with CSMA/CA(Carrier Sensing Multiple Access /Collision Avoidance) that competes to obtain a channel by sharing common medium. For that reason, network performance is heavily affected by the number of nodes and network congestion aside from signal strength. Consequently, in this paper we propose the method that choose one AP which ensures more improved network performance and set up a link, reflecting AP network information in Handoff area, on Handoff in the process of AP selection. We also demonstrate through simulation that it gets maximum performance even in the wireless network which many users concurrently access to, and it has considerable effects on aspects of resources and network management by distribution of users.

  • In this paper, we developed a data transmission system over coaxial cable based on the IEEE 802.15.3 MAC and Ultra-Wideband(UWB) Physical Layer. This system is capable of operation in both wireless and wired medias. When operating on coax cable it is capable of Gigabit bi-directional data rate operation on in-home coax wiring and over Hybrid-Fiber-Coax(HFC) cable infrastructure. The developed system transceives command, control and data over a 75 ohm coax system in a home or office. This system operates at a center frequency of 4GHz with a total occupied bandwidth of 1.33Ghz centered on 4GHz. The system uses BPSK modulation and sends symbols at a maximum power level of +15dBm. It has been tested and works through up to three CATV RF splitters in a home environment.
