한국 서비스산업의 6시그마 기법 시행과 그 성과에 관한 실증적 연구 (An Empirical Study on Performance of Six Sigma Tools in Korean Service Industry)

  • Six sigma has been the most influential management innovation program since 1996 in Korea. As a result of successful implementation of 6 sigma, there have been a number of dramatic quality improvement cases. However, no empirical study of 6 sigma implementation study has done especially in the service industry of Korea. This article reviews status of finance companies which implemented 6 sigma programs in Korea and then demonstrates the relationship between 6 sigma problem solving tools such as analysis of variance and graph techniques, etc and project success and operational performance. Customer survey tools, process analysis, and documentation tool are identified as influential tools on project success. Tools of measure steps, customer survey tools, and documentation tool are found as influential tools on operational performance.

  • More than three years have passed since Korean companies introduced Six-Sigma. Each company used a lot of quality improvement tools for years. However, the tools have been taught to the companies with a little understanding of Six sigma tools. Therefore, it is difficult to use the tools correctly at appropriate time. This survey paper was conducted on MBBs and BBs of the manufacturing companies that introduced Six-Sigma. It is intended, in this paper, to provide the companies that will be introduce Six-Sigma a guideline of training course and tools by understanding the importance of each DMAIC stage of Six-Sigma, examining the frequently used tools in each process and their performances, and selecting the key tools for each stage based on the result of this survey.

  • In this paper, first of all, the driving performance of QCCs(Quality Control Circles) that are stagnant during 10 years are reviewed. And the usage realities and utilization degree of quality improvement tools in the domestic activities of QCCs are empirically analyzed into size of company and type of business. Thus, this empirical study compares the results of past period in 1997${\sim}$1999 with the results of 6 sigma non-adapting period in 2000${\sim}$2003 through examining the collections of presentation for Korea Quality Control Circle Meetings. Also, according to the introduction of 6 sigma in QCCs activities the difference of utilization degree for quality improvement tools are analyzed to compare the results of 6 sigma non-adapting period in 2000${\sim}$2003 with the results of 6 sigma adapting period in 2004${\sim}$2006. Finally, the utilization degree of 6 sigma tools which follow the driving steps of 6 sigma, DMAIC, are analyzed.

  • There are big differences in six sigma applications between manufacturing processes and transactional processes. This paper analyzes the differences between two areas by examining 18 six sigma case studies in Korean companies. To characterize six sigma cases, a step-by-step checklist is developed based on 12-step DMAIC methodology proposed by US six sigma academy. On the basis of those characterized data, the differences between two areas are analyzed. The most significant differences is that statistical tools are widely used in manufacturing processes, but qualitative tools are used in transactional processes during improvement phase.

  • 소프트웨어 프로세스 개선의 효율을 높이기 위해 하나의 개선 모델을 사용하기 보다 둘 이상의 서로 보완 가능한 개선 모델의 통합 모델이 사용될 수 있으며, 그중에 하나가 CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integralion)와 소프트웨어 식스 시그마의 통합 모델이다. 하지만 소프트웨어 식스 시그마 도구는 그 수가 많고 통계적 지식을 요구하므로 소규모 조직에서 모든 소프트웨어 식스 시그마 도구를 적용하는 것은 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 조직의 비즈니스 가치를 달성에 도움을 주는 소프트웨어 식스 시그마 도구를 선정하는 프로세스를 제시함으로 소규모 조직에서도 적은 비용과 빠른 성과로 인해 점증적인 소프트웨어 식스 시그마 도구의 도입을 통한 효율적인 CMMI의 구현이 가능케 된다.

경영혁신을 위한 린 6시그마 활동의 효과적인 전개방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Effective Deployment Method of Lean Six Sigma Actions for Management Innovation)

  • 린 6시그마 또한 6시그마처럼 도입하고자 하는 조직의 특성에 맞게 불합리한 사항과 미비사항을 사전의 파악하여 보완하지 않고, 조직의 특성과 기본 여건을 고려하지 않은 상태에서 추진되어진다면 아마도 추진 사무국 및 전담자의 과중한 업무가 하나 더 늘어나는 결과를 초래할 수 있으므로 린 6시그마 문헌연구와 적용구축 사례 분석과 현재까지 지속적으로 6시그마 활동을 10년 이상 추진 중인 15개 업체에 소속된 벨트(MBB, BB) 96명으로부터 접수된 설문지 내용을 조사하여 얻어진 자료를 통계분석 프로그램인 SPSS 16.0을 사용하여 설문자료의 신뢰성과 타당성을 분석하였고, 6시그마 추진 시행성과, 6시그마 프로젝트 개선안 실행력 제고방안, 6시그마 추진 시 발생하는 당면한 문제점과 개선 및 보완사항을 파악하여 기존 6시그마에 린 생산방식을 합리적으로 통합시켜 린 6시그마 도입 시 경영혁신을 위한 린 6시그마 활동의 효과적인 전개 방법을 제안하였다.

  • There are big differences in six sigma projects between manufacturing processes and transactional/service processes. This paper analyzed the differences between the two areas by examining 18 six sigma case studies in Korean companies. To characterize six sigma case studies, step-by-step questions and check criteria were developed based on 12 step DMAIC methodology. On the basis of those characterized data, the differences between two areas were analyzed. Significant differences were found in the number of CTQs, validation of measurement systems, methods to determine improvement objectives, the methods to elicit improvement plans and types of control systems. The most significant difference was that statistical tools were widely used in manufacturing processes, but qualitative tools were used in transactional/service processes during improvement phase.

  • 오늘날 고객의 요구는 보다 더 다양해지고 있고, 시장 환경이 급속히 변화함에 따라 기업의 모든 활동은 고객중심으로 이루어지고 있다. 최근 제품 및 서비스의 품질 향상을 위해 변화혁신 활동을 추진한 기업이 늘어나고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 도시가스 공급시설을 효율적으로 보수하기 위하여 6시그마 기법을 이용하여 공급시설 건전성에 영향을 주는 핵심인자를 도출하였으며, Risk 인자는 정량적인 평가를 통하여 시그마 값을 산출하였고, 근본원인 및 해결안을 도출, 새로운 프로세스를 적용하여 통계적 공정관리를 실행하였다. 도시가스 공급시설의 안전관리는 위험을 정량화하여 통계적인 공정관리를 통하여 산포를 줄이고, 품질관리 비용을 제거해서 효율적인 경영관리가 가능하며, 6시그마 이용 기법의 정착과 효율적인 운용의 확산을 통해 과학적인 안전관리가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

What are the Problems to Improve the Affective Quality using Six Sigma Process?

  • Objective: This study investigated the problems that could be faced with when engineers try to improve the affective quality using the DMAIC model. Background: Affective quality is considered one of the most influential factors for the competitive power of consumer products and many engineers make effort to improve the affective quality. Since the Six Sigma process is effective and wide-used method for quality improvement, it can also be used to improve the affective quality. However six sigma tools cannot be directly used for affective quality because of the subjective and qualitative characteristics of the human affection. Method: Investigate the goals, processes and key factors of DMAIC model and find the difficulties to use six sigma tools for the affective quality. Results: Most of the problems arise from measuring and quantifying the human affective response level and understanding the relationship between the human affective factors. Conclusion: Both the protocol for measuring human affection and the monitoring system to find the affective response change for the product or service are required. Application: The results of this study could be helpful for the engineers not specialized in ergonomics to improve the affective quality in systematic approach.
