  • An active diplexer can be realized by using a MESFET and 2-sections of asymmetrical coupled bandpass filter, where the admittance inverter parameters in equivalent circuit of asym- metrical coupled microstrip lines are given as a function of an fundamental design parameter of a bandpass filter. An experimental active diplexer was designed over 22 and 18 percent bandwidth centered at 9 GHz and 11 GHz respectively, and the design data was optimized by Super-Compact. The gain performance was $6.2\pm0.3$dB in each band of 8.3~9.6 GHz and 10.3~11.8 GHz The measured bandwidth of the active diplexer was closely matched to design data but measured gain was slightly lower (1.5 dB) than the designed value.

  • In this paper, We proposed a rectangular slot antenna with CPW feeder. Slot antennas fed by CPW are attractive due to the simple fabrication simplicity and ease of integration with active devices. This antenna consists of two parts, inner patch and outer patch to realize wide-band antenna by multi-frequency. Also, We fabricated a proposed rectangular slot antenna, confirm characteristics of multi-frequency by tuning antenna parameters, inner antenna's location and size. The experimental results show that each resonant frequency of a fabricated antenna is measured at almost 1, 9GHz, 2.8GHz, 3, 5GHz, 4, 9GHz. In radiation patterns each resonant frequency, radiation pattern 4-th resonant frequency is the same ad that of TM11 in patch antenna. Therefore, the experimental and theoretical results shows that a proposal rectangular slot antenna have triple resonant frequencies.

  • In this paper, a wideband antenna accomplished by adding a double sleeve of a rectangular planar monopole structure is proposed. In order to impedance matching of proposed antenna, the antenna performance was improved by adding two gap sleeves and outer sleeve for double sleeve structure. HFSS simulator of ANSYS corp. was used in order to confirm the antenna parameter characteristic. According to the simulation results, the VSWR was less than 2 for the range of 2.5GHz~10.5GHz. The frequency bandwidth is 8GHz. The frequency range of the actual fabricated antenna was 2.92GHz~10.32GHz, the frequency bandwidth is 7.4GHz. The measured radiation pattern frequency is 3GHz, 6GHz and 9GHz. The results are similar with dipole antenna pattern in all frequency. The antenna size is $40{\times}40mm^2$. The utilization possibility of the ultra-wideband planar monopole antenna could be confirmed according to compare and analyze the simulation and measurement data.

  • In this paper, an X-band 50 W internally matched power amplifier is designed and fabricated using an $80{\times}150{\mu}m$ GaN HEMT that is developed by the $0.25{\mu}m$ GaN HEMT process of ETRI. The optimum source and load impedances are experimentally extracted from the loadpull measurement using impedance-transform-prematching circuits, and the transistor performance is predicted. The power performance of the internally matched power amplifier, whose matching circuits are fabricated on a substrate with ${\varepsilon}_r$ of 10.2, is measured under the pulsed mode of $100{\mu}s$ pulse period and 10 % duty cycle, and the best output power of 47.46 dBm(55.5 W) and the power-added efficiency of 46.6 % are obtained at 9.2 GHz. The output power of 47~47.46 dBm(50~55.7 W) is measured in 9.0~9.5 GHz, and the power-added efficiency is measured to be greater than 43 % in 9.0~9.3 GHz and above 36 % in 9.4~9.5 GHz.

  • We demonstrate the MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) frequency doublers generating stable and low-cost 29 GHz local oscillator signals from 14.5 GHz input signals. These devices were designed and fabricated by using the M MIC integration process of $0.1\;{\mu}m$ gate-length PHEMTs (pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors) and passive components. The measurements showed S11 or -9.2 dB at 145 GHz, S22 of -18.6 dG at 29 GHz and a minimum conversion loss of 18.2 dB at 14.5 GHz with an input power or 6 dBm. Fundamental signal of 14.5 GHz were suppressed below 15.2 dBe compared to the second harmonic signal at the output port, and the isolation characteristics of fundamental signal between the input and the output port were maintained above :i0 dB in the frequency range 10.5 GHz to 18.5 GHz. The chip size of the fabricated MMIC frequency doubler is $1.5{\times}2.2\;mm^2$.

  • In this paper, the ultra-widebend, microstrip patch antenna with the bandwidth of 3 GHz was implemented for ultra-wideband(UWB) wireless communication applications. In order to cover the very wide bandwidth of 3 GHz, a multi-resonance antenna was designed, each resonance frequency was separated into five frequency bend, 7.5, 8.1, 8.7, 9.3, and 9.9GHz with the interval of 600MHz BW. And for wideband characteristics of each antenna, U-slot antennas were designed at each center frequency. Designed five U-slot antennas were connected in series for multi-resonance of 3GHz BW and wideband matching was also designed for impedance matching transmission line calculated. The relative dielectric constant, the height, the loss tangent of the PCB substrate were ${\epsilon}_r=4.8,\;h=0.6$ and loss tangent=0.0009 respectively. The implemented antenna's radiation patterns and gain were directivity characteristics and $1.46{\sim}4.08dBi$ at the five separated center frequency.

In order to improve bandwidth characteristics of an TIA, we use active inductor shunt peaking to cascode and common-source configuration. The result shows the 37 mW and 45 mW power dissipation with 2.5 V bias and 61 dB$\Omega$ and 61.4 dB$\Omega$ transimpedance gain. And the -3 dB bandwidth of the TIA is enhanced from 0.8 GHz to 1.45 GHz in cascode and 0.61 GHz to 0.9 GHz in common-source. And the input noise current density is $5 pA/\sqrt{Hz}$ and $4.5 pA/\sqrt{Hz}$, and -10 dB out put return loss is obtained in 1.45 GHz. The total size of the chip is $1150{\times}940{\mu}m^2$.

  • In this study, we designed a single antenna taking into account the performance, such as return loss and radiation pattern, of 28 GHz and 38 GHz array antennas for 5G mobile devices. In millimeter wave band communication, high path loss occurs between transmission and reception, unlike in conventional microwave bands. In the design of array antennas for 5G millimeter wave terminals, antenna performance such as antenna gain, bandwidth, isolation between antenna elements, side-lobe level(SLL), etc. should be further considered. The performance of the designed array antennas was analyzed by spacing the antenna elements at half a wavelength. Our results proved the validity of the design and its suitability for applications in mm-Wave by showing that the 28 GHz and 39 GHz array antennas had antenna gains of 13.5 dBi and 11.3 dBi and return losses below -18.4 dB and -20 dB, correspondingly.

  • A compact monopole antenna excited by a conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (CBCPW) is developed for wireless USB dongle applications. The proposed antenna has a compact dimension of $14mm{\times}47.4mm{\times}3.5mm$, which is suitable for a USB dongle housing. A slotted elliptical patch and a CBCPW with vertical vias are employed to achieve a further size reduction and an improved impedance bandwidth. The measurement result demonstrates that the fabricated antenna resonates from 2.25 GHz to 10.9 GHz, which covers all of the important wireless communication bands, including WiBro (2.3 GHz to 2.4 GHz), Bluetooth (2.4 GHz to 2.484 GHz), WiMAX (2.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz and 3.4 GHz to 3.6 GHz), satellite DMB (2.605 GHz to 2.655 GHz), 802.11b/g/a WLAN (2.4 GHz to 2.485 GHz and 5.15 GHz to 5.825 GHz), and ultra-wideband (3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz) services. The radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna when attached to a laptop are tested to investigate the influence of the keypad and the LCD panel of the laptop.
