In this study, aerodynamic shape design of airfoils was performed by using RSM(response surface method) and two-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver. Numerical experiment points were determined by D-optimal method and quadratic response surfaces were constructed by using JMP. For the validations of design method, NACA 64621 airfoil was inversely designed to have aerodynamic characteristics of Bell airfoil. The design method was applied to the aerodynamic design of both smart UAV wing airfoil and low Reynolds rotor-blade airfoil for unmanned helicopter. The optimized airfoils showed improved performance with various constraint conditions.

In this paper, microstrip stepped-impedance hairpin resonator (SIR) lowpass filter f.PF) by surface rnicromachining on GaAs substrate is sugsested. This filter has the advantages of compact side, easy fabrication, and sharp cutoff frequency response. The new SIR LPF shows the 3 dB passband of dc to 33 GHz, the insertion loss of 0.82 dB, and the return loss of better than 17 dB up to 25.57 GHz. This filter is useful for many microwave system applications.
This paper focuses on the stochastic response analysis of industrial masonry chimneys to surface blast-induced random ground motions by using a three dimensional finite element model. Underground blasts induce ground shocks on nearby structures. Depending on the distance between the explosion centre and the structure, masonry structures will be subjected to ground motions due to the surface explosions. Blast-induced random ground motions can be defined in terms of the power spectral density function and applied to each support point of the 3D finite element model of the industrial masonry system. In this paper, mainly a parametric study is conducted to estimate the effect of the blast-induced ground motions on the stochastic response of a chimney type masonry structure. With this purpose, different values of charge weight and distance from the charge centre are considered for the analyses of the chimney. The results of the study underline the remarkable effect of the surface blast-induced ground motions on the stochastic behaviour of industrial masonry type chimneys.

The effects of salt concentration immersion time in a salt solution prior to air dehydration and heating of air temperature during dehydration upon the browning reaction and pyruvic acid content of air dried garlics to a 6.5% moisture content(wet basis) were analyzed by a response surface methodology(RSM), Those values were also predicted by using a second degree polynomial regression model. Heating of air temperature was the most significant factor affecting the both browning reaction and pyruvic acid content. Salt concentration had more influence to browning reaction than immersion time whereas immersion time was more impor-tant factor than salt concentration on a retention of pyruvic acid sugested different processing conditions. While the processing conditions to minimize the browning reaction(O.D=0.009) were 0.3% of salt solution 9 min of immersion time and 5$0^{\circ}C$ of air temperature compared to control(O.D=0.022) of air dehydration at 5$0^{\circ}C$ Pyruvic acid contents were maximized(174 $\mu$mole/g garlic solid) at the 0.1% of salt solution 3 min of immersion time and 5$0^{\circ}C$ of air temperature compared to control(147 $\mu$mole/g garlic solid) of air dehydration at 5$0^{\circ}C$

The three-dimensional Nano-Electronic Modeling toolkit (NEMO 3-D) is an open source software package that allows the atomistic calculation of single-particle electronic states and optical response of various semiconductor structures including bulk materials, quantum dots, impurities, quantum wires, quantum wells and nanocrystals containing millions of atoms. This paper, first, describes a software module introduced in the NEMO 3-D toolkit for the calculation of electronic bandstructure and interband optical transitions in nanowires having wurtzite crystal symmetry. The energetics (Hamiltonian) of the quantum system under study is described via the tight-binding (TB) formalism (including $sp^3$, $sp^3s^*$ and $sp^3d^5s^*$ models as appropriate). Emphasis has been given in the treatment of surface atoms that, if left unpassivated, can lead to the creation of energy states within the bandgap of the sample. Furthermore, the developed software has been validated via the calculation of: a) modulation of the energy bandgap and the effective masses in [0001] oriented wurtzite nanowires as compared to the experimentally reported values in bulk structures, and b) the localization of wavefunctions and the optical anisotropy in GaN/AlN disk-in-wire nanowires.
The ${\gamma}$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ compounds were oxidized in the furance after gas detecting sensor made molding as the Fe$_3$O$_4$ the synthesized Fe$_3$O$_4$, by ferrous sulfate and sodium hydroxide. Their sensities on carbon monoxide, ethyl alcohol and L. P. G. were measured at various temperatures, respectively. And then their electrical resistivities, thermal properties (D.T.A. & T.G.A.), were examined about their having an effet on the gas-sensing in company with the effect of pure ${\gamma}$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ and the detecting sensor ${\gamma}$-Fe$_2$O$_3$, which reacts with $K_2$CO$_3$ in the hydrothermal coundition, and the electrical conductive mechanism was reflected simultaneously. It was observed that the electrical conductivities and response ratios showed highest value at the endothermic temperature part, 300~35$0^{\circ}C$ of D.T.A.―curve. Consequently, the response ratios and response times of the hydrothermal detecting sensor were higher than that of pure detecting sensor, the specific surface areas were the highest at the endothermic range of D.T.A.-curve. These response ratios of detecting sensor for $K_2$CO$_3$, process at hydrothermal condition on carbon monoxide appeared higher than that on ethyl alcohol and in case of L.P.G. last.
Owing to rising oil prices and anthropogenic global warming, focused attempts are being made toward production of industrially important compounds by using renewable biomass. In this context, algal biomass as third-generation biomass is important because it doesn't compatible with food resource, has high yield, and helps abate greenhouse gases. Here, we investigate whether Undaria has the highest sugar content, which would make it the most suitable biomass for lactic acid production among the four algal biomasses tested. For effective pretreatment of Undaria, the response surface methodology was used. The amount of solid loaded and catalyst concentration were related to the extraction rate of total sugar. Lactic acid was produced by pretreatment of Undaria by using four Lactobacilli, and L. alimentarius and L. brevis were found to be suitable for lactic acid production.
The prediction of the dynamic response of a bridge resulting from passing vehicles across the span is a significant problem in bridge design. In this paper. the static and dynamic experiments are performed to understand the dynamic behavior of an actual two-span steel plate girder bridge. The road surface roughness of the roadway and bridge deck is directly measured by Intelligent Total Station. Numerical scheme to obtain the dynamic responses of the bridges in consideration of measuring road surface roughness and 3-D vehicle model is also presented. The bridge and vehicle are modeled as 3-D bridge and vehicle model, respectively. The main girder and concrete deck are modeled as beam and shell elements, respectively and rigid link is used for the structure between main girder and concrete deck. Bridge-vehicle interaction equations are derived and the impact factors of the responses for different vehicle speeds are calculated and compared with those predicted by several foreign specifications.
Estimation of each of mean response, difference between mean responses and derivatives of the response function is a possible objective of a response surface design. These objectives are to be achieved simultaneously when an experiment is designed to improve mean response. For the situations where departure from the assumed model is suspected, first and second order designs for improving mean response are obtained by combining minimum bias designs for the individual design objectives. D- and A-optimalities are used for selecting specific second order designs. The results are applied to central composite designs.

Statistical optimum methodology of table of orthogonal array, ANOM, ANOVA and RSM are applied to formulate optimum allocation design with design variables. It can be minimized average SPL of control volume, the objective function in closed system by optimal allocated positions of absorbing material. Structural natural frequency and acoustic natural frequency of cavity are analyzed by FEM and BEM in the closed system. Using BEM, average SPL of specific control volume is calculated according to the condition before using absorbing material and after using it. It is shown that noise is reduced by $5.02dB_{RMS}$ by absorbing material located at optimal position and minimum $1.83dB_{RMS}$ and maximum $3.47dB_{RMS}$ by the table of orthogonal array.
