Micro-stereolithography is a newly proposed technology as a means that can fabricate a 3D micro structure of free form. It makes a 3D micro-structure by dividing the shape into many slices of relevant thickness along horizontal surfaces, hardening each layer of slice with a focused laser beam, and stacking them up to a desired shape. However, we do not anticipate the electric conductivity of the final product at the existing micro-stereolithography. The reason is that this technology uses polymer to make the product. Thus the new suspension which was mixed conventional photopolymer with metal powder was developed in this study. The developed suspensions were based on SL5180 which is commercialized resin and IMS03 that is made in our laboratory. And Triton X-100 was added at the suspension for getting the scattering effect and stabilizing effect. The layer recoating device was developed to be flat the mixed high viscosity suspension. A 3D micro structure was manufactured by using recoating system and micro-stereolithography system. The fabricated product was sintered to get the electric conductivity. After sintering, a pure copper product was made. In this study, new process was developed by making metal micro structure having an electric conductivity. This technology broadened the realm of the micro-stereolithography technology. And it will be applied to make the 3D micro structure of free form which has a high hardness and an electric conductivity in the near future.

Micro-stereolithography is a newly proposed technology as a means that can fabricate a 3D micro-structure of free form. It makes a 3D micro-structure by dividing the shape into many slices of relevant thickness along horizontal surfaces, hardening each layer of slice with a focused laser beam, and stacking them up to a desired shape. In this technology, differently from the conventional stereolithography, scale effect is dominant. To realize micro-stereolithography technology, we developed the micro-stereolithography apparatus which is composed of an Ar+ laser, x-y-z stages. controllers. optical devices and scan path generation software. Related processes were developed, too. Using the system, a number of micro-structures were successfully fabricated. Some of these samples are shown for prove this system. Laser scan path generation algorithm and software considering photopolymer solidification phenomena as well as given 3D model were developed. Sample fabrication of developed software shows relatively high dimensional accuracy compared to the uncompensated result.

The aim of this study was to develop a multi-nozzle based bioprinting system for fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) biological structure. In this study, a thermoplastic biomaterial that has relatively high mechanical stability, polycaprolactone (PCL) was used to make the 3D structure. A multi-nozzle bioprinting system was designed to dispense thermoplastic biomaterial and hydrogel simultaneously. The system that consists of 3-axes of x-y-z motion control stage and a compartment for injection syringe control mounted on the stage has been developed. Also, it has 1-axis actuator for position change of nozzle. The controllability of the printed line width with PCL was tested as a representative performance index.
The crystals of ${\beta}-and\;{\beta}'-(ET)_2ICl_2$ have a modified structure of organic superconductor ${\beta}(ET)_2I_3$. These salts possess strictly different physical properties : the ${\beta}$ phase is a metal but the ${\beta}'$ phase is a semiconductor. Our band electronic structure calculations show that the ${\beta}$ phase is somewhat anisotropic 2D metal and the ${\beta}'$ phase with the 1D character in electronic structure is magnetic insulating, in good agreement with experimental indications.

In general, image-based 3D scenes can now be found in many popular vision systems, computer games and virtual reality tours. In this paper, we propose a method for creating 3D virtual scenes based on 2D image that is completely automatic and requires only a single scene as input data. The proposed method is similar to the creation of a pop-up illustration in a children's book. In particular, to estimate geometric structure information for 3D scene from a single outdoor image, we apply the tensor voting to an image segmentation. The tensor voting is used based on the fact that homogeneous region in an image is usually close together on a smooth region and therefore the tokens corresponding to centers of these regions have high saliency values. And then, our algorithm labels regions of the input image into coarse categories: "ground", "sky", and "vertical". These labels are then used to "cut and fold" the image into a pop-up model using a set of simple assumptions. The experimental results show that our method successfully segments coarse regions in many complex natural scene images and can create a 3D pop-up model to infer the structure information based on the segmented region information.
Structure and Dynamics of dilute two-dimensional (2D) ring polymer solutions are investigated by using discontinuous molecular dynamics simulations. A ring polymer and solvent molecules are modeled as a tangent-hard disc chain and hard discs, respectively. Some of solvent molecules are confined inside the 2D ring polymer unlike in 2D linear polymer solutions or three-dimensional polymer solutions. The structure and the dynamics of the 2D ring polymers change significantly with the number ($N_{in}$) of such solvent molecules inside the 2D ring polymers. The mean-squared radius of gyration ($R^2$) increases with $N_{in}$ and scales as $R{\sim}N^{\nu}$ with the scaling exponent $\nu$ that depends on $N_{in}$. When $N_{in}$ is large enough, ${\nu}{\approx}1$, which is consistent with experiments. Meanwhile, for a small $N_{in}{\approx}0.66$ and the 2D ring polymers show unexpected structure. The diffusion coefficient (D) and the rotational relaxation time ($\tau_{rot}$) are also sensitive to $N_{in}$: D decreases and $\tau$ increases sharply with $N_{in}$. D of 2D ring polymers shows a strong size-dependency, i.e., D ~ ln(L), where L is the simulation cell dimension. But the rotational diffusion and its relaxation time ($\tau_{rot}$) are not-size dependent. More interestingly, the scaling behavior of $\tau_{rot}$ also changes with $N_{in}$; for a large $N_{in}$$\tau_{rot}{\sim}N^{2.46}$ but for a small $N_{in}$$\tau_{rot}{\sim}N^{1.43}$.
3D character animation uses the various entertainment factors such as movie, advertisement, game and cyber idol and occupies an important position in video industry. Although character animation makes various productions and real expressions possible, it is difficult to make character like human body without anatomical understanding of human body. Human body anatomy is the basic knowledge which analyzes physical structure anatomically, gives a lot of helps to make character modeling and make physical movement and facial expression delicately when character animation is produced. Therefore this study examines structure and proportion of human body and focuses on character modeling and animation production based on anatomical understanding of human body.
High resolution satellite imagery is regarded as one of the important data sets to engineering application, as well as conventional scientific application. However, despite this general view, there are a few target applications using this information. In this study, the possibility for the future wide uses in associated with smart graphics of this information is investigated. The concept of smart graphics can be termed intelligent graphics with XML-based structure and knowledge related to semantic web, which is a useful component for the data dissemination framework model in a multi-layered web-based application. In the first step in this study, high resolution imagery is transformed to GML (Geographic Markup Language)-based structure with attribute schema and geo-references. In the second, this information is linked with GIS data sets, and this fused data set is represented in the X3D (eXtensible 3D), ISO-based web 3D graphic standard, with styling attributes, in the next stop. The main advantages of this approach using GML and X3D are the flourished representations of a source data according to user/clients’ needs and structured 3D visualization linked with other XML-based application. As for the demonstration of this scheme, 3D urban modelling case with actual data sets is presented.

The measurement of 3D shape is important in inspecting the quality of product. In this paper, we present a 3D shape measurement system of fastener using a camera and a slit laser. Calibration structure with slits is used in the extrinsic calibration of the camera and laser. The pose of the camera and laser is computed under the same world coordinate system in the calibration structure. Reflection of laser light on the metal surface causes many difficulties in the robust detection of them on image. We overcome this difficulty by using color and dynamic programming. Motor stage is used to rotate the fastener to recover the whole 3D shape of the surface of it.
