Soil stresses were measured beneath the centerline of one new 12.4R28 radial-ply tractor tire. The tire was operated with three inflation pressures(59㎪ 108㎪ and 157㎪) and a dynamic load of 14.2 kN and 20% slip. Soil stress state transducer(SST) measured the stresses in a hardpan soil profile. The depth of the SST was 250mm from soil surface. Analysis of the original soil stress data showed that the inflation pressure of tire did significantly affect the vertical stress. The major principal stresses calculated were more when the inflation pressure was 108㎪ than when it was 157㎪. The peak stresses of the major principal stresses presented more than those of the vertical stresses.
The aim of this study was to develop a method for measuring the slumping resistance of resin composites and to relate it to the rheological characteristics. Five commercial hybrid composites (Z100. Z250. DenFil, Tetric Ceram. ClearFil) and a nanofill composite (Z350) were used to make disc-shaped specimens of 2 mm thickness. An aluminum mold with square shaped cutting surface was pressed onto the composite discs to make standardized imprints. The imprints were light-cured either immediately (non-slumped) or after waiting for 3 minutes at $25^{\circ}C$ (slumped). White stone replicas were made and then scanned for topography using a laser 3-D profilometer. Slumping resistance index (SRI) was defined as the ratio of the groove depth of the slumped specimen to that of the non-slumped specimen. The pre-cure viscoelasticity of each composite was evaluated by an oscillatory shear test and normal stress was measured by a squeeze test using a rheometer. Flow test was also performed using a flow tester. Correlation analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between the viscoelastic properties and the SRI. SRI varied between the six materials (Z100 < DenFil < Z250 < ClearFil < Tetric Ceram < Z350). The SRI was strongly correlated with the viscous (loss) shear modulus G' but not with the loss tangent. Also. slumping resistance was more closely related to the resistance to shear flow than to the normal stress. Slumping tendency could be quantified using the imprint method and SRI. The index may be applicable to evaluate the clinical handling characteristics of composites.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of fertilizer and organic resource annual dressing for 30 years of Jeonbug series (silt loam) on soil properties and rice N uptake in paddy field soil. In the study field, treatments including control (NPK), NPK+rice straw, NPK+rice straw compost and nitrogen fertilization levels at 0, 100, 150, 200, 250 kg $ha^{-1}$ have been imposed for 30 years. Soil hardness and bulk density decreased from 15.7 mm and 1.381 Mg $m^{-3}$ in the control to 12.5 mm and 1.244 Mg $m^{-3}$ in NPK+rice straw compost treatment, respectively, indicating improvement of soil physical conditions such as porosity. Co-application of straw compost with NPK also result in a better chemical properties than NPK alone as it increased available phosphate (from 96 to 133 mg $kg^{-1}$), available silicate (from 81 to 116 mg $kg^{-1}$), and cation exchange capacity (from 9.8 to 11.4 $cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$). Soil organic matter concentration of top soil (0 to 7.5 cm in depth) was higher in NPK+rice straw and NPK+rice straw compost than in control. Fertilizer N uptake amount was much higher in NPK+rice straw (nitrogen fertilization level; 250 kg $ha^{-1}$) and NPK+rice straw compost (nitrogen fertilization levels; 200, 250 kg $ha^{-1}$) plots compared to the control (nitrogen fertilization level; 100 kg $ha^{-1}$) plot. Nitrogen use efficiency was showed significantly high in the NPK+rice straw compost (nitrogen fertilization levels; 100, 150 kg $ha^{-1}$) plot compared to the control (nitrogen fertilization level; 100 kg $ha^{-1}$) plot. Therefore, it was suggested that application of organic inputs is helpful in improving soil fertility and physical conditions and thus in N uptake.

The composite resin, due to its esthetic quality, is considered the material of choice for restoration of anterior teeth. To get a satisfactory result in the composite resin restorations, it is necessary to choose right shade. At present, most of the commercial composite resins are based on the Vita Lumin shade guides or shade guides that are provided by their company, but color differences among them might be expected even using the same shade in various materials. This study is to measure color differences between various light-cured composite resins and shade guides and to provide the clinicians with information which may aid in improved color match of esthetic restoration. Four kinds of light-cured composite resins (Gradia Direct (GD), Z250 (Z250), Clearfil AP-X (AP-X), Esthet X (E X)) and shade guides with A2 and A3 shade were used. Three specimens of each material and one specimen of each shade guide were made. Each composite resin was filled into the Teflon mold (1.35 mm depth, 8 mm diameter), followed by compression, polymerization and polishing with wet sandpaper. Shade guides were grinded with polishing stones and rubber points to a thickness of approximately 1.35 mm. Color characteristics were performed with a spectrophotometer(color i5, GretagMacbeth, USA). A computer-controlled spectrophotometer was used to determine CIELAB coordinates ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$) of each specimen and shade guide. The CIELAB measurements made it possible to evaluate the amount of the color difference values (${\Delta}E^*ab$) between composite resins and shade guides. CIE standard D65 was used as the light source. The results were as follows : 1. Among the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values of most of 4 kinds of composite resin specimens which are produced by same shade, there were significant differences(p<0.05). 2. Among all 4 kinds of composite resin specimens which are produced by same shade, there were color differences that is perceptible to human eye(${\Delta}E^*>3.3$). 3. Between most of composite resin specimens investigated and their corresponding shade guides, there were color differences that is perceptible to human eye(${\Delta}E^*>3.3$). 4. In the clinical environment, it is recommended that custom shade guides be made from resin material itself for better color matching. Shade guides supplied by manufacturers or Vita Lumin shade guide may not provide clinicians a accurate standard in matching color of composite resins, and there are perceptible color differences in most of products. Therefore, it is recommended that custom shade guides be made from resin material itself and used for better color matching.

The usefulness of Gel Bolus phantom was investigated by comparing the temperature distribution characteristic of the agar phantom produced to investigate the dose distribution characteristic of radiofrequency hyperthermia device with that of the Gel Bolus phantom under conditions similar to those of an agar phantom that can continuously carry out temperature measurement. The temperatures of the agar phantom and the Gel Bolus phantom were raised to $36.5{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ and a temperature sensing was inserted at depths of 5, 10, and 15 cm from the phantom central axis. The temperature increase rate and the coefficient of determination were analyzed while applying output powers of 100 W and 150 W, respectively, at intervals of 1 min for 60 min under conditions where the indoor temperature was in the range $24.5{\sim}27.5^{\circ}C$, humidity was 35~40%, internal cooling temperature of the electrode was $20^{\circ}C$, size of the upper electrode was 250 mm, and the size of the lower electrode was 250 mm. The coefficients of determination of 150 W output power at the depth point of 5 cm from the central axis of the phantom were analyzed to be 0.9946 and 0.9926 in the agar and Gel Bolus phantoms, respectively; moreover, the temperature change equation of the agar and Gel Bolus phantoms with time can be expressed as follows in the state the phantom temperature is raised to $36^{\circ}C:Y(G)$ is equation of Gel Bolus phantoms (in 5 cm depth) applying output power of 150 W. Y(G)=0.157X+36. It can be seen that if the temperature is measured in this case, the Gel Bolus phantom value can be converted to the measured value of the agar phantom. As a result of comparing the temperature distribution characteristics of the agar phantom of a human-body-equivalent material with those of the Gel Bolus phantom that can be continuously used, the usefulness of Gel Bolus phantom was exhibited.
We have developed a novel polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-microchip gel electrophoresis (MGE) method based on the sieving gel mixture of commercially available poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) and hydroxy ethyl cellulose (HEC) for the rapid detection and diagnosis of the orf virus (ORFV) from Korean indigenous goat. After amplification of 594-bp DNA fragment from the B2L gene of ORF virus, the amplicon was analyzed by the MGE separation. The glass microfluidic chip (64 mm total length (36 mm effective length)${\times}$90 ${\mu}$m width${\times}$20 ${\mu}$m depth) allowed the fast detection and diagnosis of ORFV in the mixture of 1.0% PVP ($M_r$ 360,000) and 1.0% HEC ($M_r$250,000) as a sieving matrix with better resolution and reproducibility of DNA fragments. Under the electric field of 277.8 V/cm, the 594-bp DNA was analyzed within 4 min. Compared to traditional slab gel electrophoresis, the PCR-MGE method was twenty times faster and an effective clinical method for the quantitative analysis of ORFV.
A new modified full scale double tee slabs with the length of nib plate - 1,500 mm were suggested, designed, and experimentally evaluated up to the loading of flexural failure. This slabs were composed of the tee section which was same to original PCI double tee and the plate section which was modified in a new shape, and the prestressing force was applied at the bottom of tee section only. This specimens were made from the domestic precast factory. The safety and serviceability of the modified nib plate with the dapped ends were evaluated up to the ultimate flexural strength of tee section. As the experimental loading increased, the flexural crackings developed first in the bottom of the slab and they changed to the increased flexural shear and inclined shear crackings in the nib and dapped portion of the double tees. The suggested modified double tee slabs failed in ductile above the design loading with many evenly distributed flexural crackings. The thickness of nib plate - 250 mm does not show any cracking under the service loading and show several minor flexural cracking up to the ultimate state of tee portion. The proposed specimens were satisfied with the strength and ductility requirements in the design code provisions in the tests. Additional experimental tests are required to reduce the depth and tensile reinforcement of nib plate concrete for the practical use of this system effectively.
In this study, the IR drop theory was adopted to explain the initiation of crevice corrosion in the framework of IR drop in crevice electrolyte. Furthermore, the electrochemical polarization was measured to study the mechanism of crevice corrosion for type STS430 stainless steel. lest method adopts under condition that the size of specimen is $10\times20\times5mm,\;in\;1N\;H_2SO_4+0.1N\;NaCl$ solution, and the artificial crevice gap sizes are three kinds, the Micro capillary tube size is inner diameter 0.04 mm, outer diameter 0.08 mm. Crevice corrosion is measured under the applied voltage of passivation potential -200mV/SCE, resulted from anodic potentio-dynamic polarization to the external surface along the crevice. The potential difference was measured by depth profile by Micro capillary tube which inserted in the crevice. The obtained results of this study showed that 1) As artificial crevice gap size became narrow, the current density was increased, whereas no crevice corrosion was found in the crevice gap size $3\times0.5\times16mm\;in\;1N\;H_2SO_4+0.1N\;NaCl\;solution\;at\;20^{\circ}C$ 2) potential of the crevice was about from -220 to -358mV which is lower than that of external surface potential of -200mV The results so far confirmes that the potential drop(so-called IR drop) in the crevice is one of the major mechanisms the process of crevice corrosion for 430 stainless steel.
It was reported that esthetic composite resin restoration reinforces the strength of remaining tooth structure with preserving the natural tooth structure. However, it is unknown how much the strength would be recovered. The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture resistance of three types of undermined cavity filled with composite resin with that of non-cavitated natural tooth. Forty sound upper molars were allocated randomly into four groups of 10 teeth. After flattening occlusal enamel. undermined cavities were prepared in thirty teeth to make three types of specimens with various thickness of occlusal structure (Group $1{\sim}3$). All the cavity have the 5 mm width mesio-distally and 7 mm depth bucco-lingually. Another natural 10 teeth (Group 4) were used as a control group. Teeth in group 1 have remaining occlusal structure about 1 mm thickness, which was composed of mainly enamel and small amount of dentin. In Group 2, remained thickness was about 1.5 mm, including 0.5 mm thickness dentin. In Group 3, thickness was about 2.0 mm, including 1 mm thickness dentin. Every effort was made to keep the remaining dentin thickness about 0.5 mm from the pulp space in cavitated groups. All the thickness was evaluated with radiographic Length Analyzer program. After acid etching with 37% phosphoric acid, one-bottle adhesive (Single $Bond^{TM}$, 3M/ESPE, USA) was applied following the manufacturer's recommendation and cavities were incrementally filled with hybrid composite resin (Filtek $Z-250^{TM}$, 3M/ESPE, USA). Teeth were stored in distilled water for one day at room temperature, after then, they were finished and polished with Sof-Lex system. All specimens were embedded in acrylic resin and static load was applied to the specimens with a 3 mm diameter stainless steel rod in an Universal testing machine and cross-head speed was 1 mm/min. Maximum load in case of fracture was recorded for each specimen. The data were statistically analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a Tukey test at the 95% confidence level. The results were as follows: 1. Fracture resistance of the undermined cavity filled with composite resin was about 75% of the natural tooth. 2. No significant difference on fracture loads of composite resin restoration was found among the three types of cavitated groups. Within the limits of this study, it can be concluded the fracture resistance of the undermined cavity filled with composite resin was lower than that of natural teeth, however remaining tooth structure may be supported and saved by the reinforcement with adhesive restoration, even of that portion consists of mainly enamel and a little dentin structure.
