  • An antihypercholesterolemic effect was observed by intraperitoneal injection of the seaweed Porphya yezoensis extract. Hypercholesterolemia was induced by intraperitoneal injection of Triton WR-1339 (600 $\mu$g/g-body weight) into a mouse. Maximum level of blood cholesterol was reached at 20 hours after Triton injection. By simultaneous injection of the p. yezoensis extract (30 $\mu$g/g-body weight) with the Triton into each right and left sides of the peritoneal cavity, levels of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein were decreased to $37\%$ and $24\%$ compared to Triton injection only. For histochemical changes, hepatic tissues obtained at 40 hours after injection of the Triton and the p. yezoensis extract were fixed in fromol-calcium solution. Numbers of lipid drops and cholesterol particles decreased in the portal space of the hepatic cytoplasm. This indicates that the accumulation of lipid, including cholesterol, caused by Triton was prevented by the antihypercholesterolemic effect of extract from the seaweed p. yezoensis.

  • $^{31}P$ NMR and ESI-MS studies of $Cu^{2+}$ binding to Fenitrothion (FN) were performed by experimentally and theoretically. The calculated $^{31}P$ NMR chemical shifts for FN-$Cu^{2+}$ complexes are in good agreement with experimental chemical shifts in order, and the results present an important information for organophosphorus pesticide metal complexes. ESI-MS and low energy CID MS/MS experiments of FN-$Cu^{2+}$ complexes combined with accurate mass measurements give insight into the metal localization and allow unambiguous identification of fragments and hydrolysis products.

  • Purpose : To evaluate the emergency medical protocols and assessments through the case reports. Method : We studied retrospectively investigates the emergency calls through the 1339 emergency patients information center in 1997. Results : The emergency calls show an order : abdominal pain(13.5%), unconsciousness(12.0%), traffic accidents(7.4%), bleeding(6.6%), respiration difficulty(5.9%) by emergency medical protocols, and injury and poisoning(22.3%), symptom (51.6%), others (26.1%). Conclusion : The results suggest that a specific training program for emergency medical dispatchers should be established, and emergency medical dispatcher managers must review emergency medical dispatching cases on the basis of emergency medical protocols every year. Emergency medical services, furthermore, will continue to raise the standard for emergency medical dispatching.

  • This paper develops in detail the differential geometry of ruled surfaces from two perspectives, and presents the underlying relations which unite them. Both scalar and dual curvature functions which define the shape of a ruled surface are derived. Explicit formulas are presented for the computation of these functions in both formulations of the differential geometry of ruled surfaces. Also presented is a detailed analysis of the ruled surface which characterizes the shape of a general ruled surface in the same way that osculating circle characterizes locally the shape of a non-null Lorentzian curve.

  • In order to investigate the effect of Injinho-tang on liver treated with CCl4, galactosamine, thioacetamide and hyperlipidemia induced by fructose, triton wr-1339, this experiment was performed. The results are as followings. 1. Injinho-tang decreased the serum TG and TC level in normal rats. 2. Injinho-tang decreased significantly the serum TG level induced by 75% Fructose. 3. Injinho-tang depressed significantly the serum TG and TC level in hyperlipidemia induced by Triton WR-1339. 4. The silymarin-Injinhotang group decreased more significantly the serum GOT, GPT, TC, TG level in comparison to the Injinho-tang treated group in CCl4, galactosamine and thioacetamide treated mice, rats.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the emergency medical protocols and need assessment through the case report Method: The study investigated the emergency call system through the 1339 emergency patients information center in 1997. Results: The emergency calls tend to follow general trends of the type of cases : abdominal pain (13.5%), unconsciousness(12.0%), traffic accidents (7.4%), bleeding (6.6%), respiration difficulty (5.9%). This was all collected through emergency medical protocols injury and poisoning (22.3%), symptom (51.6%), others (26.1%). • Development of the low NOx heating boiler was strongly asked due to severe air pollution and the large number of boilers in korea. Compactness of the commercial boiler was also important because of low manufacturing cost and easy installation. In this study. newly developed compact low NOx burner, using turbulent gas diffusion combustion with multi-staged air supplies and multiple fuel nozzles, was investigated. Comparison study of the new burner was performed between experimental results and computational analysis. Commercial computational fluid dynamic(CFD) program named CFX-5.6 was used for numerical analysis of the low NOx burner inside the test combustor. Comparisons of experiment data and numerical result were performed under various equivalence ratio and fuel flow rate.
