  • Purpose : This study was designed to evaluate the influence of implant abutment materials on detorque value and screw joint stability before and after dynamic fatigue test. Materials & Methods : The external hexagonal fixture and three different groups of abutment (titanium abutments, zirconia abutments, and UCLA abutments) were used. The detorque value before loading and after loading (cyclic loading up to $10^5$ cycles) of the abutment screw were measured. Result : 1. There was no significant difference in detorque value before loading among the each group. 2. There was no significant difference in detorque value after loading among the each group. 3. Detorque values before and after cyclic loading in each group were not significantly different. 4. There was no significant difference in loss percentage of removal torque before loading among the each group. 5. There was no significant difference in loss percentage of removal torque after loading among the each group. 6. There was no significant difference in loss percentage of removal torque according to loading among the each group. Conclusion : Short term screw loosening of three types of abutment was not significantly different. When bite force was applied, there was no significant difference in screw loosening between before loading and after loading.

  • Volar rotatory dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal joint(PIP) of the finger is rare. We report a female judo player who had volar rotatory dislocation of the PIP joint of the middle finger. She had dislocation of PIP joint total 4 times. At operation, the central tendon was identified as being distension, with the ulnar collateral ligament ruptured. The ruptured ulnar collateral ligament was interposed within the joint. The ruptured ulnar collateral ligament was repaired and extensor expansion was repaired. At last follow-up, she didn't have recurrent dislocation during judo. Accurate diagnosis, early intervention and progressive rehabilitation of this injury are very important as other dislocations.

  • Two dogs presented to the Dueckso Animal Hospital with a history of intermittent lameness of the left forelimb. On physical examination, a visible antebrachial deformity that resulted in gross external rotation of approximately $90^{\circ}$ was observed in two dogs. Medial-lateral radiographic views revealed distal ulnar subluxation, cranial bowing of the radius, radial and ulnar shortening, and external rotation of the paw. A distal ulnar ostectomy and distal radial closing wedge osteotomy were performed in two dogs. A proximal ulnar osteotomy was performed, adjacent to the elbow joint in case 1. Then, the osteotomized site was supported with an intramedullary pin. A T-plate and cortical screws were applied to the proximal and distal radial segments after derotating the distal segment internally. Postoperative radiographic view verified the correction of the angular deformity in two dogs. The follow-up was completed by physical examination 6 and 10 months after surgery respectively. There was no evidence of lameness of the left forelimb in two dogs. Gross observation of the limb revealed an apparent appropriate correction of the rotational and angular deformity in two dogs.

  • The Purpose of this study was to compare the degree of vortical head rotation and to evaluate the reproducibility of natural Head posture (NHP) according to two guiding methods, the head posture aligner (HPA) method and the solf balance posture (SBP) method. The subjects consisted of 30 adults. On the first day. lateral and frontal cephalometric radiographs were obtained through the two guiding methods. One mouth later. lateral and frontal cephalometric radiographs were obtained again through both guiding methods. The degrees of vertical head rotation of both guiding methods were compared and the reproducibility was evaluated for each guiding method. A comparison of the degrees of vortical head rotation for the two methods revealed that the vertical head posture was lower in the SBP method than in the HPA method by an average of $2.79^{\circ}$. All measurements obtained using the HPA and SBP methods with a time interval of one north did not show any significant difierence in lateral and frortal cephalometric radiographs. The results of the present study suggest that the SBP method may be used as an alternative to the HPA method in case the HPA method can not be applied.

  • This paper presents the results from a systematic finite element study on the bending moment resisting capacity of double web-angle connection for a CFT(concrete filled tube) composite frame subjected to cyclic loading. The three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models are constructed to investigate the rotational stiffness, bending moment capacity, and failure modes of the partially restrained composite CFT connections. A wide scope of additional structural behaviors explain the different influences of the double web-angle connections parameters, such as the different thickness of connection angles and the gage distances of high strength steel connection bar. The moment-rotation angle relationships obtained statically from the finite element analysis are compared with those from Richard's theoretical equation.

  • In this paper a systematic numerical analysis is performed to obtain the bending moment resisting capacity of a top and seat angle connection, which is a type of partially restrained connection, for a CFT composite frame subjected to cyclic loading. This partially restrained composite CFT connections are fabricated using high strength steel connection bar. The three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models are constructed to investigate the rotational stiffness, bending moment capacity, and failure modes. A wide scope of additional structural behaviors explain the different influences of the top and seat angle connection's parameters, such as the different thickness of connection angles and the gage distances of the high strength steel bar. The moment-rotation angle relationships obtained from the finite element analysis are compared with those from Richard's theoretical equation.
