The Antifungal Activity of Chemical Substances from Artemisia annua (개똥쑥의 천연화학물질에 의한 항균효과와 성분확인)

  • The antifungal activity of chemical substances from Artemisia annua were examined. Antifungal activity of aqueous extracts from A. annua was higher than that of essential oils in Fusarium oxysporum, whereas that of essential oil was higher than that of aqueous extracts in Aspergillus nidulans. The GC/MS methods were employed for the analysis and identification of phytotoxic substances from A. annua. Essential oil of some components were identified including thujone, terpineol, β-pinene, cienole, 2,4-hexndienal, camphor, citronellal, (-)-menthone, (1R)-(-)myrtenol, (S)-(-)-perilla aldehyde, perilla alcohol, 4-tert-buthylaniline, eugenol, isosafrole, isoeugenol and α-humulene. These results suggest that the chemical substances from A. annua such as terphenoids seem to be responsible for the allelopathic effect.

  • The chemical ingredients such as $SiO_2,\;Al_2O_3,\;MgO,\;Fe_2O_3,\;CaO$ and $TiO_2$in silica minerals were determined by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry using a matrix correction method. The synthesized standards mixed with reagent grade oxides and the sample were diluted by fusing with 16 times $Li_2B_4O_7$. The matrix effects correlated among the ingredients were corrected by the empirical coefficient method based on the Lucas-Tooth and Pyne model. The analytical results showed relatively good agreement between the different sets of coefficients but were improved with increasing the number of standard. The accuracy of this method was also examined with the standard reference material of NIST.

  • This study was carried out to find the existing forms of chlorlnc in EM dust and to understand the valaliliratian behavior and the removal of chlorine from EAF dust with lemperalure and heating almosphere The chemical compositions of dust A are 27.3%Fe. 21.8%3Zn, 3 15%Pb, 3 51%C1 and that of dust B BE 33.92%Fe, 15.94%Zn, 2.73% Pb, 3.98%Cl. The XRD analysis and water leaching test shows that chlorlne in EM dust exist mainly as NaCI, KCI, Pb (0H)Cl. Above 99% of chlorine was volatilized when dust was hentcd in alr atmosphere at 1100$^{\circ}$C h r 1 hour and that was 96% when heated in reduction atmosnherc at 1100$^{\circ}$C for 1 hour.

복분자 열매의 화학성분 및 휘발성 향기성분

  • 최근 복분자(산딸기)의 효능을 이용한 일반식품 및 기능성 식품 등의 제품 개발이 활발히 추진되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 식품차원의 연구분야 일환으로서 먼저 복분자의 일반성분, 유리당, 유리아미노산, 무기성분 및 향기성분 등을 보고한 후 앞으로 생리 활성 연구 분야에 초점을 두고 연구를 진행할 하여 학문적 자료 및 산업에 응용할시 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다. 복분자의 수분은 5.39%, 총당은 17.3%, 환원당은 8.6%, 조단백질 10.6%, 조회분은 4.5%, 조지방은1.7%, 조섬유는 3.9%이고, 유리당 함량은 sucrose 1.52%, fructose 3.98%, glucose 1.24%이고, 유기산 함량은 citric acid 10.2%, oxalic acid 6.29%로 가장 많이 함유하고 있었고, 그 다음은 malic acid 1.94%였다. 총 아미노산은 7914.1mg%이고, 필수아미노산 함량은 2622.5mg%로 나타났다. 복분자에 가장 많이 함유되어 있는 아미노산은 aspartic acid 1260.3%, 그 다음은 glutamic acid 1054.3% 순으로 함유하고 있었다. 무기성분 K가 387mg으로 가장 많이 함유되어 있었고, 복분자에서 총 52종의 성분이 화인되었는데 확인된 성분들은 관능기별로 분류하면 amylalcohol를 포함한 alcohol류 11종, valeric acid를 포함한 acid류 13종, hexanal를 포함한 carbonyl류 20종, 2-heptanone를 포함한 hydrocabon류 5종 그리고 methyl palmitate를 포함한 ester류가 3종 이었다. 관능기별로 확인된 성분들의 총 peak area%를 살펴보면 alcohol류 11.56%, acid류 38.87%, hydrocarbon류 2.89%, ester류 0.80%, 총 70.32%가 확인되었다. Alcohol류에서 linalool가 3.78%, acid류에서는 caproic acid류가 14.40%, carbonyl류에서 2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone이 2.99%, hydrocabon류에서는 aromadendrene가1.59% 그리고 ester류에서는 methyl palmitate가 0.43%으로 가장 많이 함유하고 있었다.

  • In this study, we conducted a compositional analysis of five darkening shampoos available in the South Korean market and evaluated their active ingredients and safety based on the analysis results. GC-MS analysis was employed to identify the main components of each shampoo, revealing discrepancies between the detected compounds and the ingredient lists provided by the manufacturers. These differences are interpreted as being due to the limitations of the GC-MS analysis and the volatility of certain compounds. Further investigations were carried out to explore compounds potentially contributing to hair darkening. However, it was not definitively concluded that these compounds are directly involved in the hair darkening process. It is speculated that they may enhance hair care product performance and offer additional benefits to hair, or improve product texture, stability, or preservation. Additionally, the GC-MS analysis identified several compounds with potential safety concerns, necessitating caution when used as cosmetic ingredients.

  • Consumers see many external factors when they buy a product, but the most important thing is the function and composition of the product. In particular, it is important to accurately identify the components of chemicals in order to prevent misuse, and a systematic management method is required. However, there is a lack of a systematic way for consumers to manage chemical components, and much effort is required to manage them manually. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method of extracting product's information of real-time recognition based products that can be used to systematically manage chemical components, and design and develop a mobile application prototype of the method. The prototype can be developed to systematically manage multiple chemical products in the future.

Hematology and Serum Chemistry Values of Growing Miniature Pigs (성장 미니돼지의 혈액 및 혈청화학 성분의 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish blood reference values for miniature pigs from various growth ages before pre-puberty. 12 miniature pigs from two swine farms were sampled by jugular venipuncture. Routine hematological and biochemical determinations were performed using whole blood and serum. For the variables examined in each age group the means and the standard deviations were calculated. In hematological values, there are significant changes (p<0.05) in RBC, hematocrit and platelet values in each group. In RBC and hematocrit values, 4-week group shows the lowest level, whereas in platelet values, 4-week group shows the highest level. In biochemical values, there are significant chnges (p<0.05) in glucose and GGT in each group, and in other biochemical values there are no significant changes during growing periods. The values presented here may be useful for knowing the normal values for miniature pigs and also screening the normal pigs in the early days of their life and during the developemental stages.

Petrology of the Cretaceous volcanic rocks in Pusan ares, Korea (부산일원에 분포하는 백악기 화산암류의 암석학적 연구(I))

  • The volcanic stratigraphy and geochemistry of the Cretaceous volcanic rocks in the southern part of the Pusan showed that the volcanic rocks of the study area consist of alternating pyroclastic rocks and andesitic lavas, apparently constituting a thick volcanic sequence of a stratovolcano. The andesitic rocks contain augite, plagioclase, and hornblende as phenocrysts. Matrix minerals are augite, magnetite, hornblende, apatite. Mafic minerals, such as chlorite, epidote, sericite, and iron oxides occur as alteration products. Dacitic volcanic breccia and rhyolitic welded ash-flow tuff locally overlie the andesitic rocks. The rocks reported in the previous studies as andesitic breccia and andesite plot in the field of basalt, basaltic andesite, andesite, dacite and rhyolite, based on their chemical compositions. The volcanic rocks of the study area belong to the calc-alkaline series, and the andesitic rocks which are predominant in the area plot to the field of orogenic andesite.

Seasonal Changes in Chemical Components of the Leaves of Dendropanax morbifera Lev. (채취시기(採取時期)에 따른 황칠(黃漆)나무 잎의 화학성분(化學性分) 변화(變化))

  • Dendropanax morbifera Lev. leaves were collected during different seasons to analyze the chemical components. In proximate composition the leaves collected in spring had the highest moisture content and in winter had the lowest. Lipid, ash and fiber contents gradually increased from spring to winter and in winter had the highest. Protein content decreased until summer and then it increased. All of free sugars detected have gradually increased during the growing season. Unsaturated fatty acids content was higher than that of the saturated fatty acids and the major saturated and unsaturated fatty acids were arachidic acid and cis-13,16-docosadienoic acid. respectively. Fifteen free amino acids detected with arginine content being the highest regardless of season and amino acid content gradually decreased during the seasons. The highest content of mineral elements was potassium in leaves collected in spring, with calcium was the highest in leaves picked in other seasons. Vitamin C content was gradually decreased over the growing season and soluble tannin content increased notably.

Chemical Composition of Acacia Flower(Robinia pseudo-acacia) (아카시아(Robinia pseudo-acacia) 꽃의 화학성분 조성)

  • Chemical composition was determined to renew interest in acacia flower as food. The moisture content was 86.60%. The chemical composition showed 24.55% of protein, 8.51% of ash, 40.97% of total sugar and 160.44mg% of ascorbic acid on dry matter basis, respectively. Free sugar was mainly composed of fructose, sucrose and glucose. In fatty acid composition, the ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids was 1.7 : 1. The unsaturated acids were primarily composed of polyenoic acid by more than 90%. The amino acid was distributed with a ratio 0.32 of essential to total amino acids. Important elements of acacia flower were K, Mg, Ca, Fe, and Na. Flavor components such as 24.19% of octadecanoic acid, 9.41% of benzyl alcohol, 7.05% of linalool, 5.43% of heptacosane and 4.28% of geraniol were identified as major volatile compounds of acacia flower.
