Relationship of the Clearance Rate and Nonylphenol Uptake Rate of Three Bivalve Species with Different Size Classes and Temperatures (이매패류 3종의 크기 및 수온에 따른 여수율과 노닐페놀 흡수율의 관계)

  • The present study was conducted to evaluate relationship between nonylphenol uptake rate and clearance rate of Ruditapes philippinarum, Corbicula japonica and Mytilus edulis. Variation of the temperature and body size of the bivalves was used to modulate clearance rate and nonylphenol uptake rate in this experiment. Clearance rate and nonylphenol uptake rate experiments were determined for two different size classes of the bivalves (R. philippinarum: 0.35, 0.73 g, C. japonica : 0.047, 0.1000g, M. edulis: 0.30, 0.37 g; mean flesh dry weight) and three different temperature regime (5, 13 and $18^{\circ}C$). Weight-specific clearance rate in all animal size and temperature ranges increased in the order of R. philippinarum, C. japonica and M. edulis. The weight-specific nonylphenol uptake rate did not show specific trend among species. The clearance rate and nonylphenol uptake rate generally decreased with animal size and increased with water temperature. For all three species nonylphenol uptake rate had a strong relationship with clearance rate. For a given clearance rate ranges, the nonylphenol uptake rate was in the order of R. philippinarum > C. japonica > M. edulis. The results suggest that water ventilation capacity of filter-feeding organisms is an important physiological factor controlling uptake rate of dissolved nonylphenol.

Preparation and Keeping Quality of Intermediate Moisture Food from Oyster and Sea Mussel (굴, 홍합의 중간수분 식품제조 및 저장 안정성에 관한 연구)

  • An attempt was made in this study to investigate the possibility of processing oyster and sea mussel into an intermediate moisture food. To obtain a palatable and instant product, shucked samples were heated in soy sauce for 5 min., heated in seasoning solution for 10 min., and then dried by the method of hot-air blowing for 4-6 hours at $40^{\circ}C$. Optimum seasoning solutions consisted of 2% monosodium glutamate, 3.5% sodium chloride, 15% sorbitol, 2% propylene glycol, 5% glycine and 0.02% rosemary oleoresin in 72.48% water. Judging from water activity, thiobarbituric acid, viable cell count, volatile basic nitrogen, surface color and sensory evaluation, vacuum-packaging method in nylon/PE $(20{\mu}m/40{\mu}m)$ or polyester/viniliden chloride/polypropylene $(12{\mu}m/15{\mu}m/50{\mu}m)$ film bag did hardly damage to the quality of intermediate moisture products, but air-packaging method in polyethylene(0.06m/m) bag did considerable damage to the quality during storage for 60 days in an incubator with 49-51% relative humidity at $30^{\circ}C$.

Heavy Metal Contents of Canned Seafoods Packed in Oil (수산물 기름 담금 통조림 식품의 중금속 함량)

  • Specification and heavy metal contents of canned seafoods packed in oil were investigated. 30 species of canned tuna were classified by 4 groups as follow; group (sample codes, 1-10) composed of tuna and oil only, group (11-18) composed of tuna, vegetable and oil, group (19-27) composed of tuna, sauce and oil, and group (28-30) composed of tuna, vegetable, sauce and oil. Commercial canned shellfish packed in oil were mainly produced from sea mussel (sample codes, 31 and 32) and oyster (33-35). Can bodies of canned tuna were made by tin-plate, and used c-enamel or aluminium-paste as coating materials. In pH values of canned tuna, sample codes 1-10 (pH 5.55-5.69) and 19-27 (pH 5.17-5.85) were higher than sample codes 11-18 (pH 4.95-5.43) and 28-30 (pH 5.20-5.38). There was no difference in salinity (1.3-1.9%) and vacuum degree (15-18 mmHg) among canned samples. Heavy metal contents of canned seafoods ranged from 1.04-9.03 ppm for Sn, and 0.17-0.68 ppm for Pb. Those values are below the permitted range (less than 150 ppm for Sn and 2 ppm for Pb).

  • Carotenoid pigments from muscle of mussel, Mytilus coruscus, and blue mussel edulis, were separated by thin layer and column chromatography. The isolated carotenoids were identified by comparative test with reference carotenoids, reduction with sodium borohydride, isomerization with iodine and absorption spectrophotometry. The carotenoid content in the muscle of mussel were 0.4mg% in male and 2.7mg% in female, and the carotenoids were composed of 23.4%, 33.4% mytiloxanthin, 26.3%, 22.5% 3, 4, 3'-trihydroxy-7', $8'-didehydro-{\beta}-carotene$, 24.8%, 22.8% pectenoxanthin, 14.0%, 9.9% pectenolone and 5.1%, 6.1% diatoxanthin in male and female, respectively. While, the carotenoid contents in the muscle of blue mussel were 1.1mg% in male and 3.2mg% in female, and the carotenoids were composed of 33.8%, 35.6% mytiloxanthin, 28.4%, 44.7% pectenoxanthin, 18.1%, 5.0% diatoxanthin, 9.7%, 8.7% pectenolone and 5.5%, 3.1%, 3, 4, 3'-trihydroxy-7', $8'-didehydro-{\beta}-carotene$ in male and female, respectively.

  • Pacific oyster, hard clam and mussel were irradiated at doses up to 0.5 Mrad, the optimum dose rather than the maximum permissible was sought for in each species and post-irradiation storage characteristics studied at $0^{\circ}\;and\;5^{\circ}C$. No shellfish meat irradited at doses as high as 0.5 Mrad produced any adverse odor. However the organoleptic quality of each sample irradiated at lower doses was superior to those irradiated at the higher during the early storage period. The optimum dose was determined to be 0.2 Mrad for Pacific oyster and mussel and 0.1 Mrad for hard clam. By irradiating at the optimum dose, the storage life of Pacific oyster cculd be extend from less than 14 days to 35 days at $0^{\circ}C$ and from only 3 days to 21 days at $5^{\circ}C$. A similar storage extension was observed with mussel. The storage life of hard clam was extended from 7 days to 14 days at $0^{\circ}C$ and from 3 days to 12 days at $5^{\circ}C$. The hard clam meats were particularly susceptible to tissue softening by irradiation; an earlier onset and more extensive softening were observed with increasing dose.

  • 국내 해안에는 양식업에서 부산물로 다량 발생되는 굴, 홍합, 대합 등의 패각들이 해안에 야적되어 연안어장의 오염, 공유수면 관리상의 지장, 자연경관의 훼손 및 보건 위생상의 문제 등으로 환경오염을 초래하고 있다(정종현 등, 1998). 현재 폐 패각의 총발생량은 355,000톤 정도이며, 이 중 종묘채묘용으로 재사용되는 양을 제외하면, 토지개량제로서의 이용 등을 포함한 재활용율은 약 30%정도로 낮은 실정이다.   • 본 발표에서는 물 또는 용매 속에서 어떤 물질의 표면도 개질할 수 있는 표면공학기법에 대해 발표하고자 한다. 본 기술은 홍합의 접착단백질의 성분에서 착안한 polydopamine 및 catecholamine으로 정의되는 일련의 chemical compounds에 의해 수행된다. 먼저 polydopamine의 형성 원리를 설명 하고 이를 이용하여, 에너지, 물, 나노바이오 등 다양한 분야의 응용예를 소개 할 예정이다.

  • 폴리도파민이 다양한 표면을 개질할 수 있다는 것이 보고된 이래로, 폴리도파민을 이용한 다양한 응용 연구들이 계속되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 폴리도파민을 이용하여 다양한 물질들로 오염된 물을 간단하고 효과적으로 정제하는 방법을 보고한다. 마이크로 크기의 실리카 비드에 폴리도파민을 코팅하여 흡착제로 사용하였으며, 이 흡착제가 다양한 중금속(Cu, Cr, Hg, Pb), 유기물질(4-Aminopyridine), 방사성 동위원소(Lutetium-177)를 효과적으로 흡착함을 확인하였다.
