Mixed-Signal Circuit Testing Using Digital Input and Frequency Analysis (디지털입력과 주파수 성분 분석을 통한 혼성신호 회로 테스트 방법)

  • A new technique for detecting parametric faults in mixed signal circuits is proposed Pseudo-random sequence from linear feedback shift register(LFSR) is fed to circuit-under-test (CUT) as stimulus and wavelets are used to compact the transient response under this stimulus into a small number of signature. Wavelet based scheme decomposes the transient response into a number of signal in different frequency bands. Each decomposed signal is compacted into a signature using digital integrator. The digital pulses from LFSR, owing to its pseudo-randomness property, are almost uniform in frequency domain, which generates multi-frequency response when passed through CUT. The effectiveness of this technique is demonstrated in our experimental results.

  • This paper introduces a 2-dimensional touch screen panel driver based on an improved capacitive sensing circuit. The improved capacitive sensing circuit based on charge pump can eliminate the remaining charges of the intermediate nodes, which may cause output voltage drift. The touch screen panel driver with mixed-mode circuits was built and simulated using Cadence Spectre. Verilog-A models the digital circuits effectively and enables them to interface with analog circuits easily. From the simulation results, we can verify the reliable operations of the simple structured touch screen panel driver based on the improved capacitive sensing circuit offering no voltage drift.

  • This paper introduces a touch screen panel driver using modified charge pump circuit. The touch screen panel driver is composed of an analog circuit part which senses a touch and a digital circuit which analyse the sensed signal. To verify the functions the touch screen panel driver, a mixed-mode circuit was built and simulated using Cadence Spectre. The digital circuits were modeled with Verilog-A in order to interface with the analog circuits and verify the functionalities of the driver with less simulation time. From the simulation results, we can verify the reliable operations of the simple structured touch screen panel driver which does not include an ADC.

  • We developed embedded inductors in MCM-D substrate for RF applications. The increasing demand for high density packaging was the driving forces to the development of MCM-D technology. Most of these development efforts have been focused on high performance digital circuits. However, recently there is a great need fur mixed mode circuits with a combination of digital, analog and microwave devices. Mixed mode modules often have a large number of passive components that are connected to a small number of active devices. Integration of passive components into the high density MCM substrate becomes desirable to further reduce cost, size, and weight of electronic systems while improving their performance and reliability. The proposed MCM-D substrate was based on Cu/photosensitive BCB multilayer and Ti/Cu is used to form the interconnect layer. Seed metal was formed with 1000 $\AA$ Ti/3000 $\AA$ Cu by sputtering method and main metal was formed with 3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ Cu by electrical plating method. The multi-turn sprial inductors were designed in coplanar fashion. This paper describe the manufacturing process of integrated inductors in MCM-D substrate and the results of electrical performance test.

  • We propose a new technique to improve the parametric fault coverage of oscillation test method (OTM). The OTM has been popular as a vectorless scheme for analog circuit test, both as a general defect-oriented technique, as well as an oscillation built-in self- test (BIST) scheme. However, it still requires improvement in several aspects. This paper analyzes the limitation of OTM, and proposes new signature analysis scheme to improve its performance.

An Efficient BIST for Mixed Signal Circuits (혼성 신호 회로에 대한 효과적인 BIST)

  • For mixed signal circuits that integrate both analog and digital blocks onto the same chip, testing the mixed circuits has become the bottleneck. Since most of mixed signal circuits are functionally tested, mixed signal testing needs expensive automatic test equipments for test input generation and response acquisition. In this paper, a new efficient BIST is developed which can be used for mixed signal circuits. In the new BIST, only faults on embedded resistances, capacitances and its combinations are considered. To guarantee the quality of chips, the new BIST performs both voltage testing and phase testing. Using these two testing modes, all the faults are detected. In order to support this technique, the voltage detector and the phase detector are developed. Experimental results prove the efficiency of the new BIST.

  • The method of designing the polyphase network for the interpolation filter of the discrete signals is designed, the polyphase network consists of the hybrid FIR/IIR digital filter with the FIR filter and IIR filter which are designed by independent methods. It is showed that the proposed polyphase network is useful for the interpolation filter, by the estimation method using the white-gaussian noise.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 충돌 예방 레이더 시스템-온-칩용 24GHz 믹서(Mixer)를 제안한다. 이러한 회로는 24GHz의 동작주파수를 가지며, Gilbert 셀 구조로 구성된다. 이러한 회로는 TSMC $0.13{\mu}m$ 혼성신호/고주파 CMOS 공정 ($f_T/f_{MAX}=120/140GHz$)으로 설계되어 있다. 제안한 회로는 10.96dB의 변환이득으로 최근 발표된 연구결과 중 가장 우수한 수치를 보였다. 또한 7.62dBm의 우수한 IIP3의 특성과 -43.64dB의 입력/출력 반사손실 (S11/S22) 및 -49.3dB의 LO-RF간 격리 특성 (S12)으로 기존 연구결과 중 가장 우수한 결과를 각각 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 충돌 예방 장거리 레이더용 고 이득 및 저 잡음 77GHz CMOS 저 잡음 증폭기를 제안한다. 이러한 회로는 2볼트 전원전압 및 77GHz의 주파수에서 동작한다. 이러한 회로는 TSMC $0.13{\mu}m$ 혼성신호/고주파 CMOS 공정($f_T/f_{MAX}=120/140GHz$)으로 설계되어 있다. 전체 칩 면적을 줄이기 위해 실제 수동형 인덕터 대신 전송선을 이용하였다. 제안한 회로는 최근 발표된 연구결과에 비해 34.33dB의 가장 높은 전압이득과 5.6dB의 가장 낮은 잡음지수 특성을 보였다.
