A comparative study on stability evaluation of caverns by 2D continuum analysis in terms of shape factor (2차원 연속체 해석에 의한 지하공동 형상비별 안정성 평가 비교)

  • The construction of underground structures such as oil and food storage caverns are recently increasing in our country. The stability of those underground caverns are greatly influenced by their shape and size. In this study therefore, the effect that the shape of an underground cavern have on its stability were analyzed in terms of safety factor. To this end, caverns with 5 different shapes were investigated and sensitivity analyses were performed based on rock class, overburden, and lateral earth pressure coefficient. The proper amount of shotcrete and rockbolt as supports of a cavern was also assumed based on the shape and site of the cavern and rock conditions. This study is expected to be helpful in designing and evaluating the stability of caverns in future.

Effects of Novel Fin Shape of High Temperature Heat Exchanger on 1 kW Class Stirling Engine (1kW급 스털링엔진 고온 열교환기의 Fin 형상 개선 효과 분석)

  • In this research, numerical analysis was carried out on novel and existing fins, adjusted in terms of factors such as length, spacing, and angle, of a high-temperature heat exchanger for a 1 kW class Stirling engine, designed as a prime mover for a domestic cogeneration system. The performance improvement as a result of shape optimization was confirmed with numerical analysis by including the air preheater, which was not considered during optimization. However, a negative heat flux was observed in the cylinder head portion. This phenomenon was clarified by analyzing the exhaust gas and wall surface temperature of the combustion chamber. Furthermore, assuming an ideal cycle, the effects of heat transfer enhancement on the thermodynamic cycle and system performance were predicted.

  • While using the hydrogen mixture gas torch, the glass edge sealing and the shape of the edge sealing parts is affected by many parameters such as flow rate of gas, traveling speed of torch, distance between glass and torch. As the glass edge sealing shape have effects on the insulation and airtightness and strength of the glass panel; the sealing shapes are predicted according to the process parameters. The paper highlight the nonlinear regression equations of the cross-sectional shape of the sealing shape according to the parameters, that is experimentally predicted later compared and verified the equation with the experimental result.

  • 본 연구는 PC용 냉각팬의 효율적인 설계를 위하여 냉각팬의 형상 변경 및 블레이드의 수 변화를 통해서 PC 부품 발열체의 온도변화를 수치해석적으로 수행하였다. 기존의 냉각팬 형상을 기준으로 블레이드의 수를 변화시키고 실제 형상을 변경한 냉각팬을 동일한 설계 입력조건를 적용하여 비교 분석하여 냉각성능을 파악하였다. 두 Case를 비교한 결과 기존 형상은 블레이드의 수가 증가 할수록 냉각효과가 커졌고, 형상을 변경한 냉각팬의 경우 Blade 6에서 가장 큰 냉각 효과를 보였다. 그리고 Blade 6과 8을 비교해 봤을 때 두 블레이드 사이에서 온도차이는 미소한차이로 냉각효과를 비교하기 어려웠다. 두 Case에서 제작과정과 비용을 비교해 보았을 때 Case 2의 Blade 6 경우가 더 우수한 것으로 보아 형상을 변경한 블레이드에서 최적설계를 얻을 수가 있었다.

Sign Language Shape Recognition Using SOFM Neural Network (SOFM 신경망을 이용한 수화 형상 인식)

  • 인간은 정보전달을 위하여 언어 이외에 동작, 표정과 같은 비언어적인 수단을 이용한다. 이러한 비언어적인 수단을 정확히 분석 할 수 있다면 인간과 컴퓨터간의 자연스럽고 지적인 인터페이스를 구축할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문은 별도의 센서를 부착하지 않은 단일 카메라 환경에서 손 형상을 입력정보로 사용하여 손 영역만을 분할한 후 자기 조직화 특징 지도(SOFM: Self Organized Feature Map) 신경망 알고리즘을 이용하여 손 형상을 인식함으로서 수화인식을 위한 보다 안정적이며 강인한 인식 시스템을 구현하고자 한다. 제안 방법으로는 피부색 정보를 이용하여 배경으로부터 손 영역만을 추출한 후 추출된 손 영역의 형상을 인식한다(전처리과정으로 모델이미지의 사이즈와 압축 및 컬러에 대한 정보를 정규화 시켰다). 또한 인식 효율을 높이기 위해 SOFM 신경망 알고리즘을 적용함으로서 보다 안정적으로 손 형상을 인식할 수 있게 되었으며, 손 형상 인식률에 대한 안전성과 정확성을 향상시킬 수 있었다. 그리고 인식된 손 형상의 의미를 텍스트로 보여줌으로서 사용자의 의사를 정확하게 전달할 수 있다.

  • We can acquire the criteria of configuration tolerance on the Kick Motor system, KSLV-I upper stage propulsion system from the analysis results of the initial controllability on the KSLV-I upper stage. Also we can assign configuration tolerances on each subsystem from the configuration tolerance on the Kick Motor system. This article deals with the Kick Motor system configuration tolerance criteria and the results of configuration management on the both ground test models and flight test ones.

공동형상에 따른 경사충격파와 경계층 상호작용의 피동제어 성능 비교 연구

  • 슬롯판을 이용한 경사충격파와 경계층 간섭유동 제어에서, 슬롯판 아래에 있는 공동부의 형상을 바꾸어 가며 제어 성능을 비교하는 수치적 연구가 수행되었다. 공동형상 직사각형 5개, 사다리꼴 3개를 선정하여 shock 뒤에서 경계층 안정성, 전압손실을 기준으로 제어 성능을 평가하였다. 수치해석 결과 모든 형상에 대해 제어하지 않은 상태보다 좋은 성능을 얻었다. 그 중 경계층 안정성 측면에서는 형상 L과 R, 전압손실 감소 측면에서는 형상 M과 A가 효과적임을 확인하였고, 종합적으로 슬롯의 끝 면과 공동의 길이방향 끝 면이 일치하는 형상에서 상대적으로 좋은 결과를 얻음을 확인했다. 또한 슬롯과 공동 내부유동을 분석하면서 경계층 안정성과 전압손실 감소에 영향을 미치는 것은 separation 영역을 얼마 원활히 흡입하는지의 여부임을 알 수 있었고, 상류 슬롯에서 발생하는 shock에 대한 추후 해결 연구도 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on the Application of Land Form Indices to the Standardization of Development Available Lands, using GIS (GIS 기반 개발가능지 정형화를 위한 토지형상기준 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The current study aims at the design of GIS-based systematic and quantitative standards for development available land forms, precluding any planners' subjective manipulation of those irregular lands. More specifically, first, as the elements of land form standards, both LFI (Land Form Index) and ARCI (Adjusted Related Circumscribing Circle Index) are proposed. Second, through the sample survey of ready-developed residential areas, standard minimum and maximum values for LFI and ARCI were extracted. Third, through the application of those standardized ranges of LFI and ARCI values, actual land form standardization process was performed for the lands with LFI and ARCI indices, falling below the range of standardized values. The significance of the current study lies within the objective proof of the possibility of GIS-supported land form standards applications to actual cases, through the introduction of LFI and ARCI as land form standard indices.

  • One of the most important hydrological response characteristics is the lag time. It is well known as being under the influence of the morphometric properties of the basin, which could be expressed by catchment shape descriptors. In this paper, the geometric characteristics of an equivalent ellipse proposed by Moussa(2003) is applied for the lag time analysis. The lag time is obtained from the rainfall-runoff observed data by the method of moments suggested by Nash(1960) and the relationships between the basin morphometric properties and the lag time are discussed as applied to 3 catchments in Korea. Additionally, the shapes of equivalent ellipse are examined how they are transformed from upstream area to downstream one. As a result, the relationship between descriptors based on a equivalent ellipse a+b and $a+b+{\epsilon}OM$, and the lag time is shown to be close and the shape of ellipse is presented to approach a circle along the river downwards. Also, the notion of compactness which is used to express the shape of an irregular plan-form is tried to apply.

  • Shape memory polymer composites have been studied for deployable antennas in space because they have advantages of lightweight, large deformability, good processability, and low cost. In this research, shape memory polymer composites (SMPCs) were manufactured using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as reinforcements and were used to fabricate SMPC antenna. The SMPCs were prepared by dispersing CNTs in the polymer matrix. Various dispersion methods were investigated to determine the most suitable one, focusing on the mechanical properties of SMPCs including their fracture behavior. The shape memory properties of SMPCs were measured and finally, the deployment behavior of the SMPC antenna was analyzed.
