  • This study is about the direction of how to compose the information domain curriculum in the domestic subject matter centered curriculum system. To this end, subject-centered and competency-centered curriculum were compared and analyzed, and how the information domain was organized in two types was suggested. In spite of emphasizing competency, the domestic curriculum was judged to be inclined to the subject-centered curriculum because it emphasized the presentation of national-level educational goals, a subject learning model, and textbooks. As examples of the information domain subject-centered curriculum, the information domain of the elementary practical subject and the middle school information curriculum were presented, and the SW convergence curriculum was presented as an example of a progressive curriculum. Under such circumstances, it was emphasized that in order for the learner to lead a life in an intelligent society in the future through the information domain including SWAI content, it must be explicitly described in a subject-centered perspective with computer science as the parent study.

  • This study aims to propose a conceptual design of information displays for supporting responsive actions under severe accidents in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). Severe accidents in NPPs can be defined as accident conditions that are more severe than a design basis accident and involving significant core degradation. Since the Fukushima accident in 2011, the management of severe accidents is increasing important in nuclear industry. Dealing with severe accidents involves several cognitively complex activities, such as situation assessment; accordingly, it is significant to provide human operators with appropriate knowledge support in their cognitive activities. Currently, severe accident management guidelines (SAMG) have been developed for this purpose. However, it is also inevitable to develop information displays for supporting the management of severe accidents, with which human operators can monitor, control, and diagnose the states of NPPs under severe accident situations. It has been reported that Ecological Interface Design (EID) framework can be a viable approach for developing information displays used in complex socio-technical systems such as NPPs. Considering the design principles underlying the EID, we can say that EID-based information displays can be useful for dealing with severe accidents effectively. This study developed a conceptual design of information displays to be used in severe accidents, following the stipulated design process and principles of the EID framework. We particularly attempted to develop a conceptual design to make visible the principle knowledge to be used for coping with dynamically changing situations of NPPs under severe accidents.

  • Confirmation bias is well known to be the cause of widespread misjudgment in the field of forensic decision-making. In this study, we examined the psychological mechanisms by which confirmation bias affects intentionality judgment in serious injury and death cases that combine the moral characteristics of the perpetrator and victim differently. As a result, participants perceived the case as a more typical criminal case when both the perpetrator and victim were bad people, and gave higher intention to perpetrators' actions in these typical crimes. In particular, it was found that people with a high degree of confirmation bias highly judge the intention of the offenders in a consistent way with the stereotype of criminal cases. However, in serious criminal cases, the moderate effect of confirmation bias has disappeared and only the effect of crime typicality has existed. Finally, we discussed implications of this study and ways to reduce bias in intentionality judgment.

  • This study is to develop a named entity recognition model specialized in criminal investigation domains using deep learning techniques. Through this study, we propose a system that can contribute to analysis of crime for prevention and investigation using data analysis techniques in the future by automatically extracting and categorizing crime-related information from text-based data such as criminal judgments and investigation documents. For this study, the criminal investigation domain text was collected and the required entity name was newly defined from the perspective of criminal analysis. In addition, the proposed model applying KoELECTRA, a pre-trained language model that has recently shown high performance in natural language processing, shows performance of micro average(referred to as micro avg) F1-score 98% and macro average(referred to as macro avg) F1-score 95% in 9 main categories of crime domain NER experiment data, and micro avg F1-score 98% and macro avg F1-score 62% in 56 sub categories. The proposed model is analyzed from the perspective of future improvement and utilization.

  • The method of suppressing recidivism through punishment centered on punishment is showing limitations through criminal policy research in many countries. As an alternative to this, a restorative judicial law aimed at returning criminals to members of society through reconciliation and coordination of community members, victims, and perpetrators is emerging as a paradigm for crime prevention and recidivism. Sweden is a representative welfare state and is confirming positive effects through correction of criminals based on restorative justice. In addition, it has a stable system related to the legal protection welfare system, and maintains a low recidivism rate and social security through scientific and reasonable operation using evidence-based principles in the evaluation and certification process of operating programs. However, research on the legal protection system implemented in advanced welfare and correctional countries, including Sweden, is still insufficient in Korea. Therefore, this study aims to explore the direction of the domestic legal protection system through a review of Swedish criminal policy and legal protection system, and to identify insufficient areas and complementary points of the domestic system to lay the foundation for improving the domestic legal protection welfare system and expanding business.

  • In this study, focused group interviews with 24 incumbent judges were conducted on how they conceptualize public opinion and what attitude they take toward it in relation to judicial trials. The contents of the interviews were analyzed through grounded theory and topic modeling (STM). According to the grounded theory results, judges distinguished concepts such as social rules, socially accepted ideas, legal emotion, and public mood from public opinion, and subdivided public opinion into temporary and emotional reactions to specific legal cases and consistent attitudes toward law and policies. In addition, it was found that judges' attitudes toward public opinion and social norms differed depending on the type of cases or legal issues. Topic modeling results significantly corresponded to the grounded theory results. In this model, the effects of the types of cases dedicated to participants on topical prevalence were statistically significant.

  • In the future, as autonomous vehicles become popular at home and abroad, the frequency of accidents involving autonomous vehicles is also expected to increase. In particular, when a fully autonomous vehicle is operated, various criminal/civil problems such as sexual violence, assault, and fraud between passengers may occur as well as the vehicle accident itself. In this case, forensics for accidents involving autonomous vehicles and accidents involving passengers in the vehicles are also about to change. This paper reviewed the types of security threats of autonomous vehicles, methods for maintaining the integrity of evidence data using blockchain technology, and research on digital forensics. Through this, it was possible to describe threats that would occur in autonomous vehicles using blockchain technology and forensic techniques for each type of accident in a scenario-type manner. Through this study, a block that helps forensics of self-driving vehicles before and after accidents by investigating forensic security technology of domestic and foreign websites to respond to vulnerabilities and attacks of autonomous vehicles, and research on block chain security of research institutes and information security companies. A chain method was proposed.

  • This article aims to explore the possibility of forgiving among serious juvenile offenders placed in correctional facilities, as an alternative to current correctional approaches. The definition, characteristics, and misconceptions of forgiveness were outlined, and the two major models of forgiveness were introduced. The differences between the two concepts of forgiveness in psychological literature and in restorative justice were addressed. Based on the prior studies on the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences in serious juvenile delinquents and a recent forgiveness project conducted in a maximum-security prison, it was argued that it would be possible for a small number of serious juvenile offenders in correctional facilities to forgive someone who did injustice in the past, which would result in an improvement in the outcomes of correctional education and treatment. Some limitations of this article and the need of further studies were pointed out as well.

  • This study examined four ecological systems, namely individual, family, school, and media environments. A series of moderator analyses were conducted to examine variations in effect size estimates across the study characteristics. The current study estimated that the effect size results were gleaned from 360 primary studies, including 90 journal articles and 270 thesis/dissertations, published between 2011 and 2022. The current meta-analysis results supported the ecological framework. That is, the impact of each ecological system on the development of positive and negative peer relationships varies depending on age groups and protective-risk factors. Specifically, for positive peer relationships, the largest effect size of the protective factor was found at the individual level for young and school- aged children, but at the school level for adolescents. Regarding the risk factors for positive peer relationships, the media was the ecological system with the strongest effect size for both young children and adolescents, while the individual-level demonstrating the strongest effect for school-aged children. Results from this meta-analysis allow us to identify some vital intervention areas in terms of healthy peer-relationship development, which should be of considerable interest to the educators and policymakers who are responsible for assessing and intervening with at-risk young children, school-aged children, and adolescents. From a practical standpoint, the current meta-analysis results are expected to contribute to developing effective prevention initiatives by targeting specific protective and risk factors for peer relationship development on the ecological system level.

  • There is little research about medical treatment after prison. The purpose of this study is to examine factors influencing mentally-ill prisoner's decision making for medical treatment on release from prison. With the data collected from prisoners in 2019, binary logistic regression was used to analyze the effect of variables on the mentally-ill prisoner's decision making. In result, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, and panic disorder decreased the likelihood of answering that I will have no medical treatment plan after prison, whereas lack of experience in receiving medical care increased the likelihood of answering as such. Bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, counseling, medical treatment, and education had a positive effect on selecting mental hospital in the answer. Depression enhanced the likelihood of choosing mental health center for treatment. Policy implications and directions for future research are discussed.
