An arbitration approach to resolve conflict to quality requirements in the level of the media service for multi-party collaboration environments (다자간 협업 환경을 위한 미디어 서비스 수준에서의 품질 요구사항 갈등 중재방법)

  • When sharing real-time media in the ubiquitous computing environments, due to heterogeneous performance of devices, conflict to users' media service requirements might be occurred. To address the problems, there are extensive researches about media streaming QoS control schemes in the aspects of network or application. However, their deployment has met with difficulty because of critical reasons such as high development cost and system complexity. In this paper, in the level of media services, we propose a negotiation approach to offer improved quality of media services. The proposed approach Constructs video distribution group between producer and consumer services, which target to globally minimize the concession of users' quality requirements Consequently, users can be provided video services in the level of conformation to the users' expectation.

  • Recently a grid and cloud computing collaboration have become a social issue. These collaborative network system, the P2P system based on this system. Distingui shed from the client/server systems, P2P systems in order to exchange information, its purpose and functions are divided according to the morphological Category. In accordance with the purposes and functions of information and data retrieval, remote program control and integration services for the offers. Most P2P systems client/server scalability, and management takes the form, but to overcome the disadvantages in terms of applying the mixed-mode system is increasing. And recently the distributed computing aspects of the service to users in order to provide suitable to accommodate the diverse needs of various types of mobile agent technology is needed. In this paper, as required by the mobile agent access to a remote resource access control and agent for the execution and management capabilities and improve the reliability of the mobile agent system designed to suggest.

  • As cloud computing and the Internet of things are getting popular, the number of devices in the Internet of things computing environments is increasing. In addition, there exist various Internet-based applications, such as home automation and healthcare. In turn, existing studies explored the quality of service, such as downtime and reliability of tasks for Internet of things applications. To enhance the quality of service of Internet of things applications, cloud-fog computing (combining cloud computing and edge computing) can be used for offloading burdens from the central cloud server to edge servers. However, when devices inherit the mobility property, continuity and the quality of service of Internet of things applications can be reduced. In this paper, we propose a resource management scheme based on live migrations for mobility support in edge-based fog computing environments. The proposed resource management algorithm is based on the mobility direction and pace to predict the expected position, and migrates tasks to the target edge server. The performance results show that our proposed resource management algorithm improves the reliability of tasks and reduces downtime of services.

  • 사회적 컴퓨팅(social computing)의 현상이 Web 2.0 공급사슬(supply chain)의 변화관점에서 새로운 변화의 단계를 맞이하고 있다. Web 2.0 플랫폼을 어떤 형태로 기업 활동에 활용할 것인가 하는 문제제기에 대하여 다양한 기업 활동의 변화사례가 발견되고 있다. 본 논문은 그와 같은 다양한 Web 2.0 환경 확산에 대한 기업 활동의 변화현상 중에서 Web 2.0 플랫폼을 기반으로 한 신제품개발(New Product Development) 사례연구를 통하여 진행한 결과를 반영하였다. 신제품 개발을 위한 플랫폼으로서 Web 2.0 의 협업적 환경을 설계하게 될 경우, 고객의 내재적 요구사항(latent requirement)이 제품개발에 효과적으로 반영될 수 있도록 하는 절차(process)가 기존의 제품개발방법론과 연관되어, 어떤 형태로 적용되고 개선되어 발전될 수 있는가에 대한 경험적 사례를 사례연구방법의 탐험적 경향을 활용하여 살펴보았다. 본 논문에서 다루어졌던 사례는 Web 2.0 플랫폼을 기반으로 사용자 창작 콘텐츠(User Created Content)를 생산하고 증가된 연세대학교 UCC의 양적 팽창에 의해서 수익모델이 발생하는 전형적인 Web 2.0 비즈니스 모델의 구조를 보여주는 경우였다. 본 연구를 통해서 사용자의 내재적 요구사향을 Web 2.0 기술특성을 통해서 참여적 사용자, 혹은 사용자 디자이너들의 적극적인 활동에 의해서 개선 및 구현해 가는 과정을 구체적 개발방법론의 틀로서 정착하려는 시도를 하였다.

  • We address how to handle big data mining effectively using the intelligent SSD (iSSD). ISSD is a storage device equipped with computing power inside SSD for reducing the transferring cost and for processing data nearby SSD where the data is stored. We first introduce the structural characteristics of iSSD for efficient data processing. Then, we present how to process data mining algorithms by using iSSD. Finally, we discuss how to improve the performance of data mining algorithms significantly by exploiting heterogeneous computing environment where host CPUs and GPU coexist for maximizing the performance.

  • N스크린 서비스는 하나의 디지털 컨텐츠를 TV, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC나 노트북 등을 통해 일관성 있는 문맥으로 단절 없이 소비할 수 있는 환경을 마련해 준다. 현재 이 서비스는 TV와 모바일 기기의 스마트화, 클라우드 컴퓨팅의 확산, 홈 네트워킹의 발전, 모바일 웹을 위한 다양한 기술의 발전으로 그 발전 가능성이 매우 큰 서비스이다. 이런 N스크린 서비스는 단순한 연속적 상연 서비스를 넘어 다양한 기기를 동시에 사용하는 협업적 N스크린 서비스로도 진화할 것이다. 이런 환경에서 개발된 SK Planet hoppin 서비스는 TV, PC, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC간의 연동을 통해, 기기 종류에 제약 없이 구매된 컨텐츠를 상영할 수 있는 통합 미디어를 구현하기 위해 개발되었다. 이를 위해 통신망으로 연결된 미디어 서버 및 hoppin 단말기를 위한 안드로이드 기반의 플랫폼을 개발하였으며, 크래들을 사용한 TV 연결을 통해 모바일 기기를 secondary 스크린으로도 사용될 수 있도록 했다. 이런 서비스는 현재 국내 유일의 형태이며 hoppin은 향후 협업적인 N스크린 서비스로 더욱 발전해 갈 수 있을 것이다.

  • Grid computing has a large scale virtual computing environment that enables a collaborative processing through sharing resources of geographically distributed organizations. In recent year, the development of wireless networks and mobile devices enables mobile devices to consider as a resource of the grids. However, there are some problems such as low performance of processors, small capacity of storages, limited capacity of battery, and low bandwidth. In this paper, to overcome these limitations occurred in mobile grid environments, we proposed a proxy-based mobile grid system. Our proposed system enables mobile devices to play roles as a resource consumer and a resource provider and to collaborate with wired grids through a mobile router. Also, we propose an adaptive job scheduling scheme to cope with context changes of mobile devices and compare our scheduling scheme with other scheduling schemes using a simulation tool, SimGrid, to verify the validity of our job scheduling scheme.

An Adaptive Recommendation Service Scheme Using Context-Aware Information in Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경에서 상황 인지 정보를 이용한 적응형 추천 서비스 기법)

  • With the emergence of ubiquitous computing era, various models for providing personalized service have been proposed, and, especially, several recommendation service schemes have been proposed to give tailored services to users proactively. However, the previous recommendation service schemes utilize a wide range of data without and filtering and consider the limited context-aware information to predict user preferences so that they are not adequate to provide personalized service to users. In this paper, we propose an adaptive recommendation service scheme which proactively provides suitable services based on the current context. We use accumulated interaction contexts (IC) between users and devices for predicting the user's preferences and recommend adaptive service based on the current context by utilizing clustering and collaborative filtering. The clustering algorithm improves efficiency of the recommendation service by focusing and analyzing the data that is collected from the locations nearby the users. Collaborative filtering guarantees an accurate recommendation, even when the data is insufficient. Finally, we evaluate the performance and the reliability of the proposed scheme by simulations.

  • Currently, there is increasing demand for weather information, however, providing meteorology and climate information is limited. In order to improve them, supporting the meteorology and climate big data platform use and training the meteorology and climate big data specialist who meet the needs of government, public agencies and corporate, are required. Meteorology and climate big data requires high-value usable service in variety fields, and it should be provided personalized service of industry-specific type for the service extension and new content development. To provide personalized service, it is essential to build the collaboration ecosystem at the national level. Building the collaboration ecosystem environment, convergence of marine policy and climate policy, convergence of oceanography and meteorology and convergence of R&D basic research and applied research are required. Since then, demand analysis, production sharing information, unification are able to build the collaboration ecosystem.

Case Study on Software Education using Social Coding Sites (소셜 코딩 사이트를 활용한 소프트웨어 교육 사례 연구)

  • Recently, the importance of software education is growing because computational thinking of software education is recognized as a key means of future economic development. Also human resources who will lead the 4th industrial revolution need convergence and creativity, computational thinking based on critical thinking, communication, and collaborative learning is known to be effective in creativity education. Software education is also a time needed to reflect social issues such as collaboration with developers sharing interests and open source development methods. Github is a leading social coding site that facilitates collaborative work among developers and supports community activities in open software development. In this study, we apply operational cases of basic learning of social coding sites, learning for storage server with sources and outputs of lectures, and open collaborative learning by using Github. And we propose educational model consisted of four stages: Introduction to Github, Using Repository, Applying Social Coding, Making personal portfolio and Assessment. The proposal of this paper is very effective for software education by attracting interest and leading to pride in the student.
