Going Abroad for Urban Management Projects: A Case Study of Kuwait New Town (도시관리사업의 해외 진출방안 연구: 쿠웨이트 신도시를 대상으로)

  • This study reviews urban infrastructure and housing management in Kuwait to establish a strategy for going abroad in an urban management sector after the construction of the Kuwait New Town. This study reviews legal systems and governance related to urban infrastructure and housing management as well, offering implications that are collated from international and Korean case studies. By doing so, this paper proposes a governance structure for urban infrastructure and housing management along with key agendas for local institutional improvements. This study suggests that the establishment of a legal system equivalent to the Korean Multi-family Housing Management Act is a key to institutional improvements. The (tentatively entitled) 'Housing Management Act' is proposed to specify the scope and the ways of management in mandatory management subject to local conditions. The direction of going abroad, such as the management scope and the implementation system, discussed in this study can be used as a reference when expanding into other countries in the Middle East that have similar institutional environments to Kuwait in urban infrastructure and housing management.

  • 이동통신 장비 제조업체에게 있어 3세대 장비시장은 2세대 이후 10여 년 만에 맞이하는 대규모 장비시장이라는 현실적인 측면은 물론, 향후 본격적으로 형성될 3세대 단말기 시장경쟁에서 시장을 선점할 수 있다는 측면에서 전략적으로 중요한 위치를 차지한다. 본 연구에서는 현재까지 이루어진 3G 시스템 공급 시장자료를 기반으로 시장구조와 3G 장비공급 시장의 특성 파악을 통해 국내 제조업체들의 장비시장 진출의 당위성과 진출을 위한 전략수립시 도움이 될 수 있는 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

Analysis of Competency Assessment Using BSA for ODA Loan Construction Projects (BSA기법을 활용한 ODA건설사업 역량 요인 도출 및 분석)

  • Recently, with achieved US$ 500 Billion international cumulative construction order, the Korean government presented overseas construction industry visions for international orders of US$ 100 Billion and entering the top five countries in global construction market. Also, Korean companies are developing strategies for expansion of international markets. However, ODA loan projects are low risk for the Korea Construction companies trying to advance their overseas business. This study provides data-based advice on securing competence for Korean construction companies entering the global market through the ODA loan projects. To analysis construction firm's competitiveness for ODA loan project, FGD was utilized and BSA model was applied to the valuable analysis. Competencies highly assessed were construction quality control, relationship building through high-level diplomatic activities, and project management. Competencies requiring urgent improvement were handling risks of local countries, financing projects, and developing know-how within participating companies.

  • The main objective of this study is to investigate the overseas performance of CGV in order to boost Korean wave and movie platform competitiveness. The focus of this study is to on how CGV may enhance the market share of china market, emphasizing the entrepreneurial orientation of top management team and differentiated entrant strategy based on Korean wave. This study suggests key factors in the china movie platform market expansion process of CGV. In order to analyze this mechanism, we employ a case study method design. The case study results show that there are differences of CGV strategy in movie platform characteristics and the important key factors of growth depending on market situation. The most important thing is that entrepreneurial orientation of top management including differentiated entrant strategy and Korean wave-oriented vision enhance between brand loyalty and market share in china market. In addition, growing overseas impacts of CGV support on Korean wave entertainment and globalization of movie platform industry. Contributions and implications for the academic and managerial field are discussed.

Preserving traditional performing arts such as traditional culture overall aggregate such as literature, art, music, dance, theater and enable it to meet future national culture is to secure a competitive brand. Meanwhile, it shrouded in advance global success of K-pop and TV content, such as our popular culture, but our traditional performing arts sector, there has been a steady effort to receive the attention of the world and expanding capacity and performance. Now, this point will be a new policy approach needed to expand more popular in both domestic and world demand in traditional performing arts. In this study, we propose a strategic plan to raise the popularization and industrialization of our own needs and unique traditional performing arts opportunities for successful overseas expansion and promotion of the content of traditional performing arts.With the help of information technology.

Dynamic Relationship between Domestic Construction Market Condition and Overseas Construction Business (국내 건설경기 변화와 해외건설수주 간의 관계성 분석)

  • This study undertakes a comparative analysis of the correlation between the condition of the domestic construction market and the expansion of overseas projects within construction companies, based on the vector error correction model. The analysis results verified that, in the post-IMF crisis period, domestic construction companies took on more overseas projects only when the residential construction market slowed down. Compared to the pre-crisis period, construction companies grew more responsive to the condition of the domestic market for residential construction, and they took on more overseas construction projects when the domestic market slumped. This is because the business portfolios of Korean construction companies' render them highly vulnerable to the condition of the residential construction market. When the domestic residential market slows down, the business condition of construction companies quickly takes a turn for the worse, and to cope with this, they turn to overseas projects to compensate for the slowing of the domestic market. As the analysis shows, expanding overseas construction projects as a way to turn around business condition amid a slow residential construction market actually undermines the management of the companies even further. In other words, shifting business focus toward an overseas market during a hard time might be useful for securing cash flow, but might not help to restore profitability. Thus, construction companies need to carefully manage their level of business diversification to ensure strategic flexibility.

  • The brand consulting for paving the way for overseas-based companies to develop local brands includes many processes such as the analysis of local markets and consumers, the analysis of in-and-out circumstances including the diagnosis of corporate competence and resource, the establishment of brand strategies, the development of brand concepts, and the development of design, which should be performed before the eventual launch of overseas markets. So, the success of overseas-based brand consulting just depends on coworking(i.e., consortium) by brand experts from international marketing, design to local-overseas brand rights which have been barely touched upon by the brand experts. This study aims to present brand consulting framework and to support the development of local-fit brands when the small and medium industries, esteemed relatively less compatible than conglomerates, expand their business in the non-English-speaking countries. This study also includes the results of a demand inquiry on the local fit brand targeted for SMEs. As a brand consulting framework which has been performed at work sites through the accumulated many year's trial and error, it could be a significantly meaningful guidance for the brand experts who perform local-fit brands consulting and the SMEs who look for overseas-based brand consulting.

  • As Korean online game market is saturated, Korean online game companies are trying to push into North American market. In order to succeed in foreign markets, understanding of user characteristics in that country is most important. In this study, investigation on user characteristics has been performed using user DB from A online game and B online game. They are currently in service by M company in America. Connection time, payment, and royalty are analyzed as a results. Based on the analysis, several advance strategies into North America are suggested. This results could be very useful for Korean MMORPG company to try to push into North America.

중국 공기청정 현황 - 중국의 환경규제 강화와 우리 기업의 대응

  • 중국의 급속한 산업화로 대기, 수질, 폐기물 등 환경오염문제가 심화, 고착화되면서 이를 개선하기 위해 중국 정부는 환경규제를 지속적으로 강화하고 있다. 또한 외국인 투자유치로 제조업 육성에 어느 정도 성공을 거둠에 따라 외국인 투자 유치와 제조업 경영활동에 있어 환경 이슈를 매우 중요시하고 있어 신규 및 사업확장에 제동이 걸리고 있다. 중국은 신규법인수 기준으로 우리나라의 최대 해외직접투자국이며, 제조업종에 대한 투자금액이 전체 투자금액의 88.3%를 차지하고 있다. 중국에 진출한 기업들은 중소기업이 전체 진출기업의 약 90%로 중국의 환경규제 강화는 중국에 진출한 우리 중소기업들에게 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 중국 정부는 분야별 환경목표를 강화하고 오염물질배출 업체를 퇴출시키는 등 강력한 조치를 전개하고 있으며, 중앙 정부의 환경목표 강화 기조와 더불어 해당 지역민의 친환경에 대한 요구가 점차 커짐에 따라, 각 지방정부는 환경 관련 지역 목표 달성을 위해 업체 관리감독을 대폭 강화하고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 중국의 환경규제 강화는 진출 기업이나 진출을 준비하는 기업들의 설비투자비나 오염배출비용 부담 증가 등 상당한 리스크로 작용하고 있으며 향후에도 중국의 환경규제 강화 기조는 지속될 것으로 전망된다. 실제 중국에 진출한 기업들은 환경규제를 직접적으로 체감하고 있다. 규제집행의 강도가 눈에 띄게 높아져 엄격한 기준을 적용받고 처벌수위 역시 높아졌으며, 과거 관시를 통해 원만한 해결이 가능했다면 이제는 환경규제에 대해 원칙적이고 보수적인 공무원의 태도로 인해 관시로도 해결이 어려운 경우가 다반사이다. 또한, 주민들도 환경규제에 대한 인식수준이 높아짐에 따라 미미한 사안에도 즉각적인 반응을 보여 민원제기 사례가 빈번히 발생하고 환경안전 기준이 점점 높아짐에 따라 이에 대응하기 위해 환경안전 설비추가, 친환경연료 사용 등 추가적인 비용이 발생하고 있다. 이에 이미 진출한 기업들은 소재지 환경규제의 강화 전망 및 이로 인한 손실정도를 사전에 파악하고 다양한 옵션에서 대응전략을 마련해야 하며, 향후 중국 진출계획을 가지고 있는 기업들은 진출에 앞서 지역별로 차별화된 시장기회와 환경규제 강도 등 현지 실사를 통한 현장중심 리스크 분석을 실시해야 한다. 또한 이미 진출한 기업 및 진출예정 기업 모두 환경규제가 강화되고 있는 중국에서 사업을 하기 위해서는 법규와 기본원칙을 반드시 준수하고 규제가 더 강화될 것 이라는 기조를 인식할 필요가 있다.
