  • The contents industry is usually divided into the movie industry, music industry, drama industry and the online digital industry. In Korean contents industry, since mid-1990s CJ E&M (Entertainment and Media) has implemented and continued experimental attempts in order to expand the hallyu contents. On basis of a theoretical background, I designed a case study to investigate the mechanism how the CJ E&M's strategy influences on hallyu growth. This study categorized the strategic direction into two key factors: digital business and glocal (global + local) contents production. Those attempts have made positive effect to the expansion of hallyu contents and creation of growth in CJ E&M. CJ E&M have increased experimental movement through digital platform augmentation, digital contents enhancement, and contents creator promotion strategies. In addition, utilization of local contents expert who provide production services for joint production at overseas markets should also be organized to expand the hallyu contents and growth of CJ E&M. This study suggests that the quality of digital business and glocal contents production have a positive relationship with hallyu contents growth and corporate performance.

With the background of Business Hallyu and Cultural Hallyu between the two countries, this study conducted the Focus Group Discussion(FGI) research, literature research and analyzed the statistical resources. The economic and cultural exchanges between Korea and the Philippines have been increased by the effect of Hallyu, but the socio-cultural conflicts, such as Kopino issue, crimes related to Koreans have been also grown. Thus, the Hallyu research focused on the Philippines is necessary, and it will be a cruical variable to forecast the socio-cultural relationship between Korea and the Philippines. The FGI research recruited participants in both undergraduates in the Phillippines and the Filippino migrants in Korea. The FGI participants of each group shows the differences of cognitions, attitudes, and actions to consume Hallyu, and the participants of both groups agrees that experiences of contacting Koreans influence on understanding Korea and its culture. The FGI participants have tried to watching Korean dramas, learning Korean languages, and building relationships with Koreans in order to adjust Korean culture. In order to improve the relations between Korea and the Philipines, Hallyu needs to promote its values as the unique culture and also universal culture in the world. Korea should increase understanding of the Filippino culture to overcome cultural differences and make efforts on localize the Hallyu 3.0 in the Phillippines.

  • It is a time when a sustainable Korean Culture Festival strategy is needed. The Korean Culture Festival is a Hallyu Culture Festival that comprehensively introduces various Korean cultures such as Korean food, beauty, and fashion with the focus on K content, which has been leading the global craze since 2020. As the core project of the promotion of Neo Hallyu by the Ministry of Culture and Gymnasium, the 2021 Korean Culture Festival, which was based on the World K-Pop concert and the K-Culture Fan Fair, including holding the first face-to-face concert that applied the stage of real-world content after Covid-19, as well as conducting and exhibiting various fan participation challenges, must now make the leap to the global Hallyu Culture Festival. To this end, it can consist of drama, K-pop, K-Culture Fan Fair, K-Meetup, K-Culture Parade, and Awards. This distinction shows a classic festival program centered around the prosumer content that drives the Korean Wave, and in order for this philosophy to be effectively linked to its contemporaries, a Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) 'Techtainment Strategy' is needed to acquire potential customers through learned playfulness.

  • This research paper aims to inform and suggest methods in which Korea Media content could successfully enter the African broadcasting market. It also seeks to suggest preparatory steps and propose various policies that Korean government could provide, to aid the export process. In order to maximize the Korean media content exposure in the Kenyan market, increased financial support for subtitles and dubbing as well as launching a Korean culture center is suggested. In addition, to encourage more diverse channels to show the Korean content, joint content production between Korea and Kenya should be considered. Moreover, in analyzing the social, cultural, ethnic and local characteristics of the Kenyan people, the paper seeks to identify the most efficient method in which Korean wave could be more widespread in Kenya. Since virtually no prior research papers exist on Kenyan's social and cultural characteristics and their thought process on the Korean media content, this paper seeks to provide valuable insight and policy implications for Korean media policy makers.

Using an online questionnaire, a total of 355 copies were collected. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings indicate that the four items of viewing motivation (i.e., entertainment, information, relationships, and vicarious satisfaction) exerted a positive impact on the viewing attitude, while real-time discussion showed no significant impact on it. In addition, viewing attitude exerted a significant positive impact on the national image of Korea, which in turn showed positive influences on the behavioral intention (i.e., visit intention, WOM intention). • This study examines the economic ripple effect of Korean wave(Hallyu). Specifically, this study tries to investigate how the satisfaction of Korean popular music among Chinese college students affects the purchase intention for Korean culture products such as Korea tour, the Korean language, and Korean martial art(Taekwondo). These products are not directly related to the Korean popular music. Results show that the overall satisfaction of Korean popular music leads to the preference for Korean popular music, which in turn improves the liking of Korean wave(Hallyu), the liking of Korea, and the purchase intention for Korean culture products. It is also found that the liking of Korean wave(Hallyu) affects the purchase intention for Korean culture products, which is mediated by the liking of Korea. However, the positive relationship between the liking of Korea and the purchase intention for Korean culture products is shown marginally significant.

  • The Korean wave refers to the spread of Korean popular culture from China to all over the world. The Korean wave has been improving the national image and creating a new brand value for Korea as a symbolic soft power. Its spread has been operating as a kind of energy that is fueling national competition. The Korean wave creates a new type of tour and increases tourists' intention to visit special places revealed indirectly through mass media. People can vary highly in terms of awareness, attitude and behavioral pattern according to the degree of care for and interest in something. This is called involvement. Three hypotheses were established to study the effect of the Korean wave in terms of involvement. First of all, it confirms whether the Korean wave involvement affects national image and image as a tourist destination. Second, it confirms whether national image affects Korea's image as a tourist destination. Third, it confirms whether the Korean wave involvement affects intention to visit Korea. The certification results of these hypotheses confirm that the Korean wave affects national image, Korea's image as a tourist destination, and intention to visit Korea. The national image also partly affects its image as a tourist destination.
