This paper suggests teaching philosophy of technology in engineering ethics class, as a realistic solution for convergence education of engineering and humanities. First, the need for convergence between engineering and humanities are presented, which is followed by the analysis of the current convergence education in Korea, especially since the introduction of the ABEEK. Third, the proposal for teaching philosophy of technology in engineering ethics will be presented, together with the expected effect of such a trial. Finally, the actual implementation of this curricula will be introduced. In 2008 and 2009, the engineering ethics course in Handong Global University adopted this proposal. The evaluation of students will be examined, which indicates the direction that the convergence of engineering and humanities should take.

Astrocytoma in the thalamus is not so frequent in incidence (1%). Moreover, bilateral thalamic tumor is rare. Certain tumors of the thalamus are considered resectable but most of thalamic tumors are thought to be untouchable. Bilateral thalamic astrocytoma with hydrocephalus was diagnosed by stereotactic biopsy and ventriculo-peritoneal shunt operation was done with result of improvement. We report a case of astrocytoma in the bilateral thalamus with literature review.

The purpose of this study is to revise the curriculum of mathematics, which is the basic for the engineering studies, especially for the disciplines of the electronic engineering, computer science, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering and architecture. Another goal of this research was to integrate a computer software, MATLAB into a mathematics course so that the mathematical concepts and theories in the course can be visualized to help students understand some difficult subjects and enhance their interest in mathematics.

최근 현대인의 영양불균형이 점점 심화됨에 따라 영양결핍과 비만의 위험도가 점점 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 건강기능식품에 대한 관심이 증가하여 일반인들의 건강기능식품 소비가 증가하고 있지만, 적정섭취량에 비해 영양소를 과도하게 섭취 중이거나 영양제를 먹지만 정작 필요한 영양소를 섭취하지 못하는 경우가 빈번히 나타나고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해소하고자 본 논문에서는 7 일간 사용자가 섭취한 식단을 기반으로 부족한 영양소를 수치상으로 계산하여 개인 맞춤 영양제를 추천하는 시스템을 제안한다.

In the post-pandemic era, colleges and students keep passion for learning online sine its unique advantages. This study explores how students' basic psychological needs drawn from self-determination theory, connect to interaction, and learning engagement in the context of online learning. While prior research explored students' intentions, digital interactions, and engagement in online learning, this study aims to come up with a united conceptual model drawing the three basic psychological needs and interaction and their effects on learning engagement. 178 response data collected through a questionnaire survey, were analyzed using PLS-SEM. Findings indicate that online learning interaction enhances intrinsic motivation, leading to higher learning engagement. Autonomy emerges as the most influential psychological need on learning engagement. This study integrates self-determination theory with online learning interactions and engagement and offers practical insights. Future research should examine long-term outcomes and diverse student populations.

본 논문에서는 실 시공 중인 PSC 교량에 대하여 풍하중에 의한 상시 진동 계측 자료을 기반으로, 교량의 동특성(고유진동수, 모드형상)을 추정하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 대상 교량의 탄성계수를 추정하여 정적 계측을 통한 탄성계수 결과와 비교하였다. 본 논문에서 사용한 동특성 추정 기법은, 대표적인 주파수 영역 해석 방법인 Frequency Domain Decomposition(FDD) 방법과 시간영역 해석 방법인 Stochastic Subspace Identification(SSI) 방법을 이용하였다. 탄성계수 추정은 유한요소모델과 계측 결과를 이용하여 두 개의 결과 차이가 수렴하도록 하는 반복 계산을 통해 탄성계수를 추정하였다. 우선, 탄성계수 추정 기법의 검증을 위해, 수치 해석을 통하여 그 기법을 검증하였으며, 해석 결과 정확한 탄성계수값을 추정하였으며, 이를 통해 본 논문에서 적용한 탄성계수 추정법에 대한 신뢰도를 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 사용된 추정 기법을 실 교량에 적용하기 위해 실제 상시 진동 계측 값을 바탕으로 실교량의 동특성 및 탄성계수를 추정하였다. FDD 및 SSI 기법을 통한 모드 해석 결과, 두 기법 모두 유사한 결과를 나타내어 FDD 및 SSI 두 방법에 대한 결과의 신뢰도를 확인 할 수 있었다. 추정 탄성계수 값은 거더 단면내 설치한 응력계 및 변형률계를 통한 계측 결과값의 범위 내에 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서 적용한 교량의 상시 진동 데이터를 바탕으로 한동특성 및 탄성계수 추정법이 구조물의 대략적인 탄성계수 및 이에 따른 구조물의 전체적인 건전도를 파악하는데 도움이 되리라 생각된다.

Objective : Pneumonia is a frequent complication in stroke and is very important as a prognostic factor. So We had a clinical study about pneumonic patients combined with stroke in which we administered both antibiotics and oriental herbal medicine to them. Methods : The 14 cases were patients that admitted visited 31CU at neurologic department in Kyunghee medical center from the 1st of October to the 31st of November, 1998. because of stroke. We selected cases complicated pneumonia. We diagnosed stroke as brain CT or MRI and pneumonia as chest simple X-ray, fever, sputurn culture et al. We divided the group into several categories(衛分證, 氣分證, 營分證, 血分證, 正虛邪退證) and medicined them both Paerum-bang(肺炎方) and antibotics. We evaluated the results as increased signs and some tests including chest simple X-ray, GOT, GPT, BUN and Creatinine. Results : Among total 14 cases, cases of perfect cure including improvement were 10, aggravation were 2 and discontinued cases were 2. We observed 17.4 days on the average. Their functions of liver and kidney weren't aggravated as medicining both antibiotics and oriental herbal treatment. Conclusion : We suggest that eastern treatment need to improve resistance of pneumonic patients and may reduce the side effect of western antibiotics therapy.

Objective : The authors report the microsurgical anterolateral tunnel approach for the treatment of the cervical disc diseases and its postoperative surgical results. Methods : All surgical procedures followed the method of classical microsurgical anterior discectomy. Small tunnel(7-8mm) was made on the disc space reaching to the posterior longitudinal ligament. The disc materials and bony spurs were removed through this tunnel. Thirty-one patients of cervical disc herniation(24 cases with pure disc herniation, 7 cases with combined cervical spondylosis) were evaluated on the symptoms, conformation in plain X-ray, C-T, and MRI. The follow up time was over 2 years. Results : Postoperatively the result(following the out come scale) was excellent and good in Twenty-nine patients. One with fair result showed remnant disc particle and spur and another one is combined with cord contusion. One patient with lesion in C 3-4 space and two cervicothoracic junction showed excellent result. Two patients with osteoporosis also showed good results. Cervical spine curvature and disc space height were not changed on the plain X-ray and MRI in all patients. Twenty-nine patients were discharged within 3 days after surgery without any postoperative complications. Conclusions : The microsurgical anterolateral tunnel approach could be indicated for the treatment of patients with cervical disc diseases and with difficulty in achieving interbody fusion(the higher cervical level and cervicothoracic junction, osteoporosis etc.).

Damages on central nervous system induced by the exposure of microwave. However, the effects of microwave on ICP are not studied yet. The ICP affected by the condition of the brain has an significant effect on vital sign. So we investigated the changes of ICP of the rabbits after exposure. Twenty four rabbits were devided into 3 groups depending on the amount of exposure to microwave. One group was composed with 8 rabbits were exposed to microwave for 10 miniutes. Other were composed to microwave for 20 miniutes, 30 miniures, respectively. Intracranial pressure on each group were measured by subdural type ICP monitoring catheter immediately, first day, 3rd day, 5th day and 7th day after exposure of microwave. Results indicates that intracranial pressure of rabbits are not affected with statistical significance by exposure of microwave.

Bleomycin-induced pulmonary toxicity usually occurs in the elderly patients (greater than 70 years old), patients with a cumulative dose above 400 units, previous chest radiotherapy, oxygen therapy, and renal failure. However, there are some reports of severe pneumonitis that developed after administering low bleomycin doses(less than 100 units). In severe bleomycin-induced pneumonitis in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients, the response to corticosteroid is poor and the mortality rate is very high, approximately 83%. Therefore, clinicians should have a low threshold for investigating and treating bleomycin-induced pneumonitis. Here, we report a case of severe bleomycin-induced pneumonitis as a complication of a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma treatment.
