  • The purpose of this study was to develop an inclusive dental hygiene practice model in an effort to stir up the self-directed learning of learners to boost their problem-solving skills and ability of providing inclusive personal oral health care in a systematic and efficient manner. The subjects in this study were 41 dental hygiene students who were in their second year in C college located in South Jeolla Province as of 2009. An inclusive dental hygiene practice was implemented during a 15-week period of time from August 31 to December 7, 2009, and a self-administered survey was conducted before and after that by using the same questionnaires. Whether there were any differences between before and after the application of the inclusive dental hygiene practice model was checked, and there was improvement in all the learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level. Concerning the relationship of academic standing to changes in learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level, the inclusive dental hygiene practice model brought more favorable changes to the students in the lower tiers. The inclusive dental hygiene model should be applied to not only practical courses but theoretical ones so that learners could make progress both in theory and practice, and evaluation tools geared toward assessing their academic achievement and practical abilities should be developed.

  • The good courseware must have the me끼ts of computer and must be designed according to principles of instruction. Therefore, we propose a model of learning structure for tutorial web courseware on the basis of elaboration theory that can give us the suitable design strategies of contents for web courseware. This model is suited to the level learning and individual learning because it is constructed of six factors - epitome, precedence learning, basis learning, depth learning, summarizer, synthesizer. We also make a tutorial web courseware to apply this model and evaluate effects in comparison with the existing tutorial web coursewares.

  • Most of education sites which are related to practical computer lecture are almost teaming and testing based on character-contents. In this thesis, commercial high school needs the use of new application programs which appear quickly. So as teacher and students can contact with each other in classroom, we implemented self-learning which has text, visual and auditory function with the use of animation technology. Not only quantity testing which has been used for the purpose of selection and arrangement, but also we designed and implemented quality testing which consider the level and individuality of student.

  • In this paper, we apply mathematising activities to geometry contents of corrent in middle and high school in order to actualize learning and teaching through Freudenthal's, Piaget's, and Van Hieles's mathematising among many theories affecting teaching and learning methods. Learners find out mathematical idea through the activities of mathematising that interprete mathematical problemm. And we derive mathematic through the experience of vertical mathematising that expresses it. Based on it, Freudenthal's progressive mathematising process, etc are used in doing the activities of applicative mathematising.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the learning effects according to the level of Science State Curiosity (SSC) and Science State Anxiety (SSA) in science learning situation for 5th~6th grade elementary school students. To achieve this purpose, we measured and analyzed SSC and SSA in each learning situation by dividing science learning into three situations: Confronting scientific task (I), Checking the results (II), and Learning science concepts (III). In order to identify the net effects of SSC and SSA on learning effects, science curiosity, need for cognition, science self-concept, science anxiety, and interest, which were expected to affect the learning effects, were controlled. SSC and SSA in the situation of confronting scientific tasks were defined as 'SSCI' and 'SSAI,' SSC and SSA in the situation of checking the results were defined as 'SSCII' and 'SSAII,' and SSC and SSA in the situation of learning science concepts were defined as 'SSCIII' and 'SSAIII.' In addition, the learning effects were divided into post-learning effect and delayed post-learning effect, and the degree of improvements in the post- or delayed post-test scores compared to the pre-test score were calculated and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, SSCI·SSCII had a positive effect on the post- and the delayed post-learning effect, but SSAIII had a negative effect on the post- and delayed post-learning effect, SSAI·SSAII had a negative effect on the post-learning effect. SSC had a greater effect on learning effects than SSA, and SSCII had the most influence on the post-learning effect and SSCI had the most influence on the delayed post-learning effect. As SSCIII increased, there was a tendency to do additional voluntary learning. The results of this study are expected to broaden the understanding of students' emotional states in science learning and provide a theoretical foundation for studies of state curiosity and state anxiety.

  • In this paper, we propose to understand the conceptual structure of programming elements that learners form during the prototyping theory. To do this, we reviewed previous studies on the meaning of conception and prototype theory and conducted a course of problem-solving programming for 33 university students who had no prior experience in programming, and collected transcription materials through conceptual metaphorical writing. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1) Identifying the conceptual structure of learners as a conceptual metaphor can enhance the effectiveness of programming education. 2) Learners need to reinforce the experience of forming abstract attributes to form mature programming concepts. 3) The concept of programming differs in the structure of multi-level concepts that students, teachers, and professional programmers have in each group. 4) Programming elements should intentionally block misconception risks in the meaning of symbols. 5) Concept evaluation tools should be developed to check whether various attributes can be applied.

  • The types and the characteristics of students' responses to anomalous data in studying 'boiling point' were investigated, and the degree of cognitive conflict and conceptual change were compared by students' cognitive variables. Tests regarding field dependence-independence and logical thinking ability, a preconception test, and a test of responses to anomalous data were administered to 137 sixth graders. Among them, 90 students whose preconceptions were consistent with the presented initial theory were selected. After learning the scientific concept, students' conceptual change was examined. Six types of responses identified were as follows: Rejection, reinterpretation, exclusion, uncertainty, belief decrease, and theory change. The main responses were rejection (33%) and theory change (39%). The results of Mann-Whitney U test indicated students who were field independent and had higher logical thinking abilities felt more cognitive conflict and exhibited more conceptual change.

  • The goal of this research is to suggest a theoretical process-centered assessment model based on Learning Progressions of key competencies in the context of STEAM instructions. The "Process-Products Combined Module-type (P2CM) STEAM Assessment Model (P2CM STEAM Assessment Model, hereafter) can be used both as an instructional model and as an assesment model, applicable for various STEAM topics and instructional types. consists of 3 axes. The first X axis stands for 4C competencies that should be emphasized through STEAM instruction. The second Y axis stands for the types and the hierarchy of STEAM instructions. The third Z axis stands for the assessment standards based on LP. We also exemplified an assessment module combined creativity competency with creativity-based instruction based on . Based on the research results, we suggested elaboration of assessment models based on Korean LP research outcomes, development and supply of formative assessment models through field-based in-depth research, modification of formative assessment models with the participation of teacher communities and in-service teachers, and the necessity of further research on assessment models for tracking LP.

  • This study presents a design of Teachable Agent(TA) and its theoretical background. TA is an intelligent agent to which students as tutors teach, pose questions, and provide feedbacks using a concept map. TA consists of four independent Modules, Teach Module, Q&A Module, Test Module, and Resource Module. In Teach Module, students teach TA by constructing concept map. In Q&A Module, both students and TA ask questions and answer questions each other through an interactive window. To assess TA's knowledge and provide feedback to students, Test Module consists of a set of predetermined questions which TA should pass. From Resource Module, students can search and look up important information to teach, ask questions, and provide feedbacks whenever they want. It is expected that TA should provide student tutors with an active role in learning and positive attitude toward the subject matter by enhancing their cognition as well as motivation.
