  • This study examines the effects of project approach to promote social development of children with and without disabilities in inclusive classrooms. Participants in this study were 22 children with disabilities and 86 children without disabilities enrolled in 4 classes at two inclusive daycare centers. The experimental group implemented the project approach and the control group followed a traditional early childhood curriculum. An ANCOVA was conducted with mean difference scores in pre- and posttests between experimental and control groups. Significant differences between control and treatment groups existed in social development of children without disabilities, but no significant changes were found in children with disabilities. From the findings, we inferred that the project approach is an effective curriculum model for inclusion. Implications for classroom practices and recommendations for future research were suggested.

  • In this investigation of the effectiveness of the Project Approach Method the 32 4-to 5-year-old subjects (16 each in the experimental and comparative groups) were pre-tested before the Project Approach Method was applied (23 times over 7 weeks) in the experimental group while the comparative group had science activities using standard unit methods of instruction. Then, all the children had a posr-test. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANCOVA. Results showed differences between the experimental group and the comparative group in their scientific problem solving ability. Specifically, effects were found on 14 sub-factors, but no difference were found on 3 sub-factors.

  • This study used meta-analysis to synthesize the effectiveness of the project approach. After reviewing 51 studies, we analyzed the effect size of 119 articles published between 1990 and 2002 using SAS 8.2 program. The grand average of the project approach effectiveness was 1.03. This implies that the experimental group that employing the project approach is more effective than control group by the 35 percentile. We also found that the project approach is more effective for preschool children group (1.21, 89%) than for the elementary school children group (0.88, 81%). Specific variables regarding the effectiveness of the project approach were analyzed and its consequences were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore 6 preservice teachers's perceptions and practices on children and teaching while they implemented the Project Approach. Using qualitative research, data were collected from individual and group reflections, interviews, classroom observations, and videotaping. Results showed that preservice teachers recognized the importance of observing children in context and the meaning of learning through the Project Approach. Preservice teachers developed their identities through reflective thinking on their theories and practices.

  • Due to the software is getting complex and large, software architecture design is issued for success of project. In the design phase, selection of the suitable architectural approach is very important. In this thesis, we identify the architectural approach alternatives in the design phase. And the evaluation method to choose architectural approaches and the architecture design methodology integrated with that evaluation method are proposed In the proposed architecture evaluation method and the architecture design methodolody, we intend to raise reliability, completeness of design and reduce development costs.

  • Due to the increasing importance of technology development project evaluation, many evaluation methods have been developed. However, most project evaluation methods are not directly applicable for evaluating performance improvement projects in a manufacturing system. It is due to the fact that the existing project evaluation methods do not deal with the performance evaluation of the system. This paper deals with performance measurement model of a manufacturing system based on decomposition method and evaluation method for technology development project based on options thinking. A case example is discussed to illustrate the process of the proposed evaluation method.

  • This study examines how the project approach utilizing beans as the subject matter influences young children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes. This examination ultimately aims at developing effective teaching methods and programs that can promote children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes. Thirty six children at H kindergarten in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do were selected as subjects of this study. The children aged five were divided into an experiment group and a comparison group, with eighteen for each group. Before the experiment, a pre-test was conducted on the children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes. The pre-test results were subject to a t test to identify whether there were differences between the two groups in age as well as the levels of scientific research capabilities and attitudes. A post-test was also conducted to determine the differences between the two groups in these categories. These results have led to the conclusion that the project approach utilizing beans as the subject matter has a positive impact on improving young children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes.

  • The aim for this study is to suggest a practical model to measure the financial values of the achievements from corporate research and development(R&D) projects. Performance indicators for R&D projects were identified from the extensive literature reviews and the evaluation methods to convert them into financial values were proposed to overcome the problems of excessive predictions and subjective expert assessments in existing methods. The proposed model was applied to R&D projects of an IT company in Korea for its validity test. The model is expected to be a turning point in economic evaluation of corporate R&D projects in general due to its practical and reasonable scheme.
