Stability of Saturation Controllers for the Active Vibration Control of Linear Structures (선형 구조물의 능동 진동 제어를 위한 포화 제어기의 안정성)

  • Control input's saturation of active control devices for large structures under large external disturbances are often occurred. It is more difficult to obtain the exact values of mass and stiffness as structures are higher. The modelling errors between mathematical models and real structures must be also included as parameter uncertainties. Therefore, in active vibration control of civil engineering structures like buildings and bridges, the robust saturation controller design method considering both control input's saturation and parameter uncertainties of system is needed. In this paper, stabilities of linear optimal controller LQR, modified bang-bang controller, saturated sliding mode controller, and robust saturation controller among various controllers which have been studied and applied to active vibration control of buildings are investigated. Especially, unstable phenomena of the LQR, the modified bang-bang controller and the saturated sliding mode controller when the control input is saturated or parameter uncertainties exist are presented to show the necessity of the robust saturation controller. The robust stability of the robust saturation controller are shown through a numerical example of a 2DOF linear vibrating system and an experimental test of the two-story structure with an active mass damper (AMD).

Experimental Verification on the Availability of Robust Saturation Controller for the Active Vibration Control of Building using AMD (AMD를 이용한 건물의 능동 진동 제어를 위한 강인 포화 제어기의 유용성에 관한 실험적 검증)

  • In active vibration control of building, controller design considering both control input saturation of controller and parameter uncertainties of building is needed. In our previous research, we proposed a robust saturation controller which guarantees robust stability and control performance of the uncertain linear time-invariant system in the presence of control input saturation. In this paper, the availability of the robust saturation controller for the building with an active mass damper (AMD) system is verified through experimental tests. Experimental tests are carried oui using a two-story building model with a hydraulic-type AMD.

Fuzzy H2/H Controller Design for Delayed Nonlinear Systems with Saturating Input (포화입력을 가지는 시간지연 비선형 시스템의 퍼지 H2/H 제어기 설계)

  • In this Paper, we present a method for designing fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers of delayed nonlinear systems with saturating input. Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is employed to represent delayed nonlinear systems with saturating input. The fuzzy control systems utilize the concept of the so-called parallel distributed compensation(PDC). Using a single quadratic Lyapunov function, the globally exponential stability and $H_2/H_{\infty}$ performance problem are discussed. And a sufficient condition for the existence of fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). The designing fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers minimize an upper bound on a linear quadratic performance measure. Finally, a design example of fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller for uncertain delayed nonlinear systems with saturating input.

  • 본 논문에서는 구조물이 과도한 기진력을 받을 때에 구조물의 진동 제어를 위하여 제안 되어진 여러 가지 포화 제어 알고리듬들의 유용성을 실제적인 관점에서 살펴보았다 제안된 포화 제어 알고리듬 중세서 수정된 뱅뱅 제어 알고리듬이 매우 유용한 것임을 확인할 수 있었으나 이는 제어력 파형 결정 파라미터의 어떤 범위내에서만 효과적이며 그 범위를 넘어서는 경우에 있어서는 제어기를 불안정하게 할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다 따라서 수정된 뱅뱅 제어 알고리듬의 적용시에 과도한 외부 기진력에 대하여 제어기의 안정적인 작동에 의한 구조물의 진동제어효과를 얻기 위해서 제어력 파형 파라미터를 과도 기진력의 크기에 따라 변화시키는 적응형의 방법을 제안하였고 이의 유용성을 수치실험 및 유압식 질량 감쇠기를 장착한 축소 구조물 검증 실험을 통하여 확인하였다.

A Force Reflecting and Compliant Control for Heavy-Duty Power Telemanipulators with Control Input Saturation (제어입력 포화를 고려한 고하중 원격조작기의 힘반영 유연성 제어)

  • Since the heavy-duty power manipulator generally has high ratio gear reducers at its joints, its dynamic characteristics is much slower than that of the master manipulator and it is likely to encounter the saturation in the input magnitude when it is used as the slave manipulator in telemanipulation systems. This paper proposes a force reflecting and compliant control scheme for the heavy-duty power telemanipulator. The main advantage of the proposed scheme is that it provides a precise position and compliant control performance for a telemanipulator with control input saturation. The stability of the proposed scheme is analyzed and a series of experiments shows its performance.

  • Sliding mode control (SMC), which is one of active control algorithms showing remarkable control performance, requires the excessive control force for control of seismically excited civil structures. Therefore, controller saturation should be considered in design of SMC. In this study, a method for determining the maximum control force is developed in terms of the fraction of the lateral restoring force using a design response spectrum. Numerical analyses of MDOF structures with one or multiple control devices verify the effectiveness of the proposed method for the control of seismically excited civil structures with saturation problem.

  • 플랜트의 정보를 알지 못 하는 경우 시험신호로 포화함수와 시간지연 요소를 이용하여 플랜트의 정보를 찾아내고 찾아낸 정보를 PI 제어기를 설계하는 방법을 제시하였다. 시간 지연요소를 이용함으로서 PI 제어기의 I 요소로부터 발생되는 위상 감소로 인해 발생되는 불안정성이 발생하지 않도록 플랜트의 Nyquist 그림에서 3/4 분면에 있는 한 점의 정보를 찾아내는 것이 가능하였다. 제안된 된 방법은 포화함수의 이용으로 정확성이 높고 한 개의 포화함수만을 이용하여 구조가 간단하다. 또한 모의시험을 통해 제안된 방법의 타당성을 보였다.

Diagnosis on Degree of Saturation Model of COSMOS Affected by Geometric and Detection Conditions and Detector Placements (교통조건, 기하구조 조건 및 검지기 설치위치에 따른 실시간신호제어시스템 포화도 산출방식 진단)

  • The Korean real-time traffic responsive control systems, Cycle Offset Split Model of Seoul (COSMOS), employs a single theoretical model to estimate the degree-of-saturation (DS) on approaches. However, the deployment of the system has been accomplished without practical consideration of its field performance. This paper delivers a diagnosis study performed to find the relationships yet known on the DS values against the operational conditions unproved in theory but ordinarily observed in field practice. Based on the analysis of the historical log data (476,505 cycles) obtained from the COSMOS server, it was found; (1) full coverage of lane detections should perform better than the sample coverage of detection in ordinary conditions, (2) the sample coverage of detection perform better than the other case with an exclusive bus lane, (3) detection in which a shared lane is involved provide poor estimation of DS, (4) poor DS estimation when a detection lane is adjacent to a shared lane, and (5) the DS values obtained during a day can hardly be stable all time. The findings suggest traffic engineers a progressive direction to move forward for the next real-time traffic control systems.

  • 본 논문은 유한시간 정정응답 제어이론을 이용한 직류전동기의 속도제어에 대하여 논하였다. 유한시간 정정응답 제어계는 이산시간제어를 적용하므로 제어량 포화현상과 검출지연 문제가 발생하여 계통의 불안정을 초래한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 포화상태에서도 고속응답이 가능하도록 예측제어를 적용한 보상기를 제안한다. 실험 결과 지령치가 포화되지 않은 상태에서는 1샘플링시간으로 정정할 수 있었다. 지령치가 포화한 상태에서는 포화로부터 벗어난 후 1샘플링시간으로 정정할 수 있었다. 또한 예측제어를 적용하므로써 과도시의 오우버슈우트가 억제된 고속정정이 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

A Real-time Traffic Signal Control Algorithm based on Travel Time and Occupancy Rate (통행시간과 점유율 기반의 실시간 신호운영 알고리즘)

  • This research suggested a new real-time traffic signal control algorithm using fusion data of the travel time and the occupancy rate. This research applied the travel time data of traffic information system to traffic signal operation, and developed the signal control process using the degree of saturation that was estimated from the travel time data. This algorithm estimates a queue length from the travel time based on a deterministic delay model, and includes the process to change from the queue length to the degree of saturation. In addition, this model can calculate the traffic signal timings using fusion data of the travel time and the occupancy rate based on the saturation degree. The micro simulation analysis was conducted for effectiveness evaluation. We checked that the average delay decreased by up to 27 percent. In addition, we checked that this signal control algorithm could respond to a traffic condition of oversaturation and detector breakdown effectively and usefully. This research has important contribution to apply the traffic information system to traffic signal operation sectors.
