Characteristics of Crossflow Electro-microfiltration Process for Treatment of Oily Waste Water (오일함유 폐수 처리를 위한 전기정밀여과 공정 특성)

  • Experimental study on the crossflow electro-microfi1tation of simulated oil emulsion waste water was carried out with polypropylene microfiltration membrane to evaluate the applicability of electrofiltration process in the treatment of oily waste water generated from many industries including nuclear field. The effects of electric field strength transmembrane pressure, crossflow velocity, and oil emulsion concentration on the permeate flux were investigated. In electro-microfiltration process using the external electric field, significant enhancement of permeate flux was achieved by diminishing membrane fouling and it was shown that considerable permeate flux can be maintained for long-term operation compared with conventional membrane filtration process without an electric field.

폴리머시멘트고화체에서의 폴라머첨가가 압축강도에 미치는 영향

  • 방사성농축폐액처리를 위한 Polymer-Modified-portlandcement 고화체는 Polymer 및 시멘트, 물을 혼합매질로 제조되며 농축폐액처리를 위해 Emulsion Polymer를 사용하였으며 PMC 고화체의 물성을 평가하기위한 고화체의 제조에서 이들 매질의 최적혼합비를 찾기 위해 Polymer 및 물, 시멘트의 혼합비를 1/1/2,1/2/4,1/3/9 등 혼합비에 따른 시편 및 Polymer 첨가량의 증가에 따라 함유비를 달리하는 시편을 제조하여 경화시간별 압축강도를 측정하였으며 매질의 최적혼합비 및 폴리머의 투입비를 구하고자하였다. 특성평가시험을 위한 시편으로는 직경 50, 높이 100mm(L/D=2) 인시편을 제조하여 압축강도를 측정하였으며 폴리머와 시멘트의 결합상태를 확인하기위해 SEM사진을 통한 미세구조를 관찰하였으며 시험결과 P/W/C의비가 1/3/9인 혼합비시편의 압축강도가 $343.36Kg_f/cm^2$로 가장 높았으며 폴리머의 함유량을 달리한 시험에서는 7%폴리머 함유시편은 $397.24Kg_f/cm^2$, 20% 폴리머함유시편은 $175.36Kg_f/cm^2$으로 폴리머의 함유량이 7~15% 이내의 폴리머함유고화체가 적합한 것으로 판단되었으며 폴리머의 투입양이 증가할수록 압축강도가 감소하였으며 경화시간도 최소4주이상 되어야하는 것으로 판단되었다.

Soybean Whey Composition and Alcohol Fermentation by Using Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (두부폐액(廢液)의 조성(組成) 및 Saccharomyces Cerevisiae를 이용(利用)한 Alcohol 발효(醱酵))

  • Alcohol fermentation was carried out by using the yeast (S. cerevisiae) and soybean whey as the sole carbon source. The whey was gained form waste after manufacturing of soybean curd. The whey contained approximately one gram sugar per hundred mililter and the sugar was consisted of a 65 per cent of reducing sugar. However, it showed a low protein content of 43mg per the same volume. Ammonium sulfate showed the best effect on the generation of carbon dioxide among three kinds of tested nitrogen sourogen sources, potassium nitrate, urea and ammonium sulfate. Thus, fermentation was carried out with supplement of 2.0g ammonium sulfate to one liter of soybean whey. During fermentation continued for 48 hours, the maximum amount of ethanol 1.86g was produced from one liter of soybean whey. The ethanol fermentation utilized 81 and 94% of its initial sugar and protein contents, respectively.

  • Recovery of silver in the spent solution generated from MEO(Mediated Electrochemical Oxidation) process, which is a process to decompose radioactive organic mixed wastes at low temperature, was performed using chemical method. Silver nitrate in 5M nitric acid solution could be completely recovered as AgCl by using 1% excess of the stoichiometric HCl equivalents. Then, AgCl was transformed to Ag metal by reduction reaction with hydrogen peroxide under alkaline media. The optimum pH for the reduction to silver metal was found to be in the range of 12.8∼13.0.

A Study on the Decolorization of Reactive Dyes by Using Ozone Treatment (오존에 의한 반응성 염료의 탈색에 관한 연구)

  • We studied on the decoloring efficiency of a dying and finishing industrial wastewater containing reactive dyes in the ozone treatment system. The wastewater containing reactive dyes improved the decolorization by the ozone oxidation. In order to determine the optical conditions for ozonation, various operation factors such as initial wastewater concentrations, pH, temperature, and ozone dose were evaluated. Ozone utilization rate was improved in general with the increase of initial concentration of wastewater. And the decolorization speed or reactive dyes was more decreased in deep color of blue series than in light color such as yellow series. The colorization of wastewater containing reactive dyes was changed step through midle color depending upon increasing of ozone treated time. The efficiency of decolorization for wastewater was improved with the pH increased and the temperature of ozone treatment system decreased.

  • To recover much residual lignin from the black liquor of kraft pulp. the black liquor was extracted and purified with many organic solvents. Many kinds of lignins were isolated from each fraction obtained and the characteristics of these lignins investigated by $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopy. If M$\ddot{o}$rck's method was compared with Kirk's method. M$\ddot{o}$rck's method was better than Kirk's method because the particular signals of each lignin occur more in the former than m the latter. Especially the $^{13}C$-NMR spectrum of the MCS fraction identifies with those of other researchers. The experiment that the kraft lignin from Pinus densiflora S. et Z. found in Korea was investigated by $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopy was performed first in Korea.

Drying Experiment of Borate Waste and Characteristics of Dried Products (붕산함유폐액의 건조와 건조물의 특성)

  • An experiment was conducted to determine the reaction of boric acid with lime and the drying of its product using a reactor-dryer. no characteristics of dried products were observed. The major chemical species of dried Products was calcium borate of 2CaO.B$_2$O$_3$. From the particle size distribution of the dried products, it was found that quick lime was better than slaked lime as an additive. The Ca/B mole ratio of reaction was determined to be 3/4 considering the cohesion and agglomeration properties of dried products. The flowability of dried products up to 8 wt% of water content was acceptable for transport process and to reduce drying time.
