A brief study on the geometric mean (기하평균에 대한 소고)

  • We review the characteristics of a geometric mean and statistical inferences based on geometric means. We also show that the statistical results obtained by the logarithmic transform and back-transformation are related to geometric means and explain how to interpret the results produced in this process.

  • 본 논문에서는 k개의 포아송 확률변수가 서로 종속 되어 있는 다변량 포아송 분포를 따를 때, 주어진 분산-공분산 행렬 구조를 유지하는 다변량 포아송 확률난수 생성방법에 대해 다루었다. 특히, 확률난수를 생성하기 위해 선형방정식을 푸는 두 가지 수치해석 알고리즘을 제안하였으며, Park 등 (1996)의 다변량 베르누이 확률난수 생성에 활용된 알고리즘과의 연관성을 다루었다.

Exchange paradox and rational decision (교환역설과 합리적 의사결정)

  • In this tutorial note, we resolve debates generated by Exchange Paradox. In particular, we show that Bayesian solution is superior to frequentist's. Then, in terms of decision analysis, we show that any rational decision is superior to no-action policy.

  • 이 연구에서는 원격탐사 자료를 이용하여 얻어진 분류 결과로부터 분류 정확도의 공간적 불확실성을 추정하고자 하였다. 기존 분류결과로부터 얻어지는 토지 피복별 확률값을 지구통계학적 시뮬레이션 기법을 이용하여 참조자료의 공간적 분포와 통합하였다. 다중센서 화상 통합에 적용한 결과, 각 토지피복 항목별로 공간적인 정확도 분포를 얻을 수 있을 수 있었으며 이러한 자료는 분류결과를 해석하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 확률화응답기법은 민감한 사항에 대한 모비율의 효율적인 추정과 응답자에 대한 충분한 보호수준 제공이라는 두 가지 측면을 동시에 추구하는 통계조사기법이다. 본 연구에서는 기법에서 적용된 질문선택확률이 이와 같은 두 가지 측면에 미치는 영향을 정리하고, 이런 관점에서 최근에 제시된 2단계 확률화응답 기법들은 기존의 기법에서 단순히 질문선택확률구조만을 수정한 것으로 해석될 수 있으며, 따라서 효율성 측면에서 본질적으로 기존의 방법과 동일한 기법임을 보였다.

  • In this study, the impact load on concrete compression member was considered to assess the quantitative damage index. The case study was carried out using the LS-DYNA, on explicit finite element analysis program. The parameters for the case study were impact load angle, slenderness ratio, etc. Using the analysis results, the performance based design method for impact load was developed using Bayesian probabilistic method, which can be applied to reinforced concrete column design for impact loads.

  • In this study, six gaging stations(T/M bureau) in the Han River basin were selected for flood frequency analysis and was carried out frequency analysis by POT(peaks Over a Threshold) model where existing flood data of short record length are available. Frequency and magnitudes of each station floods in the river basins were estimated by POT model based on statistical method, and also were compared with standard errors to verify applicability of the estimates by POT model. Furthermore, in order to evaluate for the adequate design flood which is needed for the design of the hydrologic structures in the ungaged watersheds, it is considered to be possible to develop the statistical regionalized model by regional frequency analysis.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose the policy change of teachers education in Korea with an analysis of America statistical literacy education. we found the difference of statistical literacy education between Korea and America with each nation's social and educational environment. We can get the need of new change for statistic teacher's education in Korea. We think of Mathematics teachers should know about the difference between statistics and mathematics at school mathematics. And they should know the new change thinking about teaching method and process assesment methods. Second, Teachers should focused on teaching of problem solving and statistical thinking ability based on data analysis than the teaching of probability and mathematical theory.

  • The Vickers hardness test is a common method used to characterize the hardness of ceramic materials. However, the hardness is not a deterministic value, but is a random variable. The objective of this paper is to investigate the statistical properties of the bending strength and a set of Vickers hardness values in single $ZrO_2$ and composite $ZrO_2/SiC$ with a SiC additive. In this work, we compare the characteristic value and variation with the results based on Weibull statistical analysis. The probability distributions of the bending strength and Vickers hardness agreed relatively well with the Weibull distribution. We evaluate the scale parameter and shape parameter in asreceived $ZrO_2$ and $ZrO_2/SiC$ composite ceramics, as well as in their heat treated ceramics.

  • The classical statistical approach using test data samples to estimate true value of Random Variables by calculating mean and variation (standard deviation or coefficient of variation) of samples is very useful to understand the existing condition of the structure. But with this classical approach, our prior knowledge through educational background and professional experience cannot provide any benefit to make decisions by the structural engineers. This paper shows the role of Bayesian methodology by providing chance of using valuable prior knowledge to come up with more accurate estimation of structural condition. This paper also shows how important it is to have a proper prior estimate of Random Variables and corresponding confidence level through gathering and studying more relevant information.
