This study is primarily to investigate the alienation process that constitutes the regional identity of the border region in Kyunggi Province. It both discusses the concept of social exclusion and its application for a theoretical framework and examines patterns and formation of the alienation process based on the field survey. The empirical results show that the alienation process which defines the border region as a geography of place poverty and exclusion has been deepened through economic, social, cultural and spatial processes. In terms of material well-being and social participation, especially, the alienation is shown to form in every aspect of people's lives in the border region. The alienation gives rise to the cultural stigmatization which first builds up negative images of the region and then aggravates region's development potential as well as its future prospect. In addition, the alienation in the context of the border region turns out to be unique compared to major characteristics of other backward regions as well as quite spatially differentiated across the border region in Kyunggi Province.

Postcolonialism, as a school of thought, has become enormously influential for understanding the recent phenomena of globalization. While rejecting the universalizing categories of the Enlightenment, postcolonialism has called into question the old idea of culture and identity as a transcendent regime of authenticity and purity. It has also celebrated the diasporic experiences that entail porous and hybrid cultural identities as a potential site of struggle and resistance against the dominant cultural and discursive order. It is argued, however, that postcolonial theory's emancipatory claims relating to the diversified global culture tend to be complicit with transnational capitalism that brings about global issues of material as well as cultural injustice. This article, through a thorough review of the ways the postcolonial theoretical framework has been developed and appropriated by main figures in postcolonial scholarship, seeks for a theoretical and critical strategy to grasp the complex conditions of global inequality.

The security activity suitable for the port can be achieved, provided that the physical security factors specialized for the port security should be presented as preceding conditions. The advanced research about the theoretical data of the port security factors is incomplete and the study on the physical security factors of the port facilities should be done. In this study, the necessity and suitability of port security factors was evaluated with Delphi technique. Consequently, 19 variables of physical security factors were derived in the primary survey and through the second survey of necessity evaluation and the third survey of suitability evaluation 12 variables were selected as the physical security factors of th port facilities.

This paper aims at analyzing the use REITs for improving housing welfare, especially focusing on affordable housing. To do this, firstly, current state and main problems of domestic housing welfare are analyzed, secondly, housing welfare system involving capital market and case study of affordable housing REITs in United State are examined. and thirdly, utilization schemes of REITs for improving affordable housing are analyzed. In the process of executing housing welfare, various systemic bases for attracting capital market are constructed. Under these systemic basis, affordable housing REITs such as Community Development Trust are operated. This scheme also can be applied in Korea. In the context, the structures of using management on commition REITs and the structure of using real estate fund are proposed.

The global environment is rapidly changing due to the Coronavirus outbreak, especially in areas that have been relatively neglected, such as border areas. In particular, In the post-COVID era, the border area between the two Koreas requires a new perception and conceptualization as a space for reconciliation, cooperation and coexistence. Through the status and outlook of post-COVID era, this paper analyzed the promoting directions of each situation, such as SWOT analysis, depending on the characteristics of changes such as domestic preference, changes into standards of new national competitiveness, changes into regional value chains, and the transition to digital economy in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Based on the previous analysis, this paper proposed realistic approaches such as the utilization of buffer zones, expansion of non-political cooperation to prepare resilience, and promotion of new growth engine industries. In addition, this paper suggested prepared strategies for analyzing the influence of positive and negative cases and responding to them by writing possible scenarios.

This study was to examine the effects of individual and environmental character among adults with intellectual disabilities on self-determination and to address issue of self determination in practical terms. This study was analyzed by the Structural Equations Models with 219 individuals with intellectual disabilities in residential home in the Metropolitan area, the Yeongnam area, the Honam area. The results showed that individual factors such as adaptive behavior and provider-user relationship recognition, and environmental factors such as institution size and institution location were directly affected to the self-determination of them. The opportunity was a full mediating effect in this process. In conclusion, this study stated how importance of the consumerism. Also it was suggested that some practical strategies to improve their self-determination in changing residential environment and support methods of the service in way to emphasis their opportunities.

This paper deals with how to design and develop white-box based e-learning contents which are equipped with conceptual understanding and step-by-step computational procedures for studying vector calculus for science-engineering majors who might need supplementary mathematics learning. Noting that rewriting rules are often used in school mathematics for students' problem solving, the theoretical aspects of rewriting rules are reviewed for developing supplementary e-learning contents for them. The software design of step-by-step problem solving requires careful arrangement of rewriting rules and pattern matching techniques for white-box procedures using a computer algebra system such as Mathematica. Several modules for step-by-step problem solving as well as producing dynamic display of e-learning contents was coded by Mathematica in order to find the length of a curve in vector calculus after implementing several rules for differentiation and integration. The developed contents are equipped with diagnostic modules and immediate feedback for supplementary learning in terms of a tutorial. At the end, this paper indicates the strengths and features of the developed contents for college students who need to increase math learning capabilities, and suggests future research directions.

The filter criteria of geotextiles to prevent excessive loss of fine particles in cohesion-less soils are largely depend on the flow conditions of water in soil/geotextile systems. In the soil/geotextile system under uni-directional flow conditions, it is adequate to retain only the coarse soil fraction because a 'self-induced' soil filter layer may form in cohesionless soil adjacent to the geotextile. In alternating flow conditions, however, a complete soil filter layer within the soil will not form and thus the geotextile pores must be small enough to retain finer particles of the soil to be protected. Based on these concepts, theoretical filtration criteria of geotextiles are developed considering the flow conditions of water. To test the validity of these criteria, laboratory testing was carried out. This indicated that large losses of fine particles would result, especially at high hydraulic gradients, short periods and low vertical loads. The revised filtration criteria are proposed evaluating effect of various design factors.

There is the need to balance safety, economy and serviceability in all phases of society problems. This is especially true in structural code formulation. where a framework is established by which practicing structural engineers can be assured of designing structures that reasonably meet the above three objectives. The existing design codes, which are generally based on the structural theory and certain engineering experience, do not realistically consider the uncertainties of loads and resistances and the basic reliability concepts. The purpose of the present study is therefore to develop the realistic reliability-based design criteria to secure adequate safety arid reliability, and to derive the models for partial and combined resistance factor formats. To this end, the reliability levels of our existing design code for concrete structures are first evaluated and the target reliabilities are determined, the new code formats are evolved from these target reliabilities. The present study indicates that the proposed formats exhibit relatively-uniform reliability and reasonably take into account the different material characteristics of concrete and steel in concrete structures.

In this article convergent sequences with natural number terms are investigated and the behaviors of tails and limits of these natural number sequences are explored. Firstly this study showed how the pre-service teachers response to the intuitive limit definition using "getting closer" for constant sequences. As a case of convergent natural sequences, the sequences in which the latter term is determined by the sum of digit squares of the former term are considered. To exploring these sequences the computational and charting capabilities of spreadsheets are utilized and some mathematical findings are obtained. Spreadsheet can be instrumentalized by teachers or students to provide a laboratory-like environment to explore a mathematical problem.
