  • Signboards are standardized according to national legislation for the safety of pedestrians and disaster prevention in urban areas. Signboards should be installed according to the standard. However, it is not easy to manage the signboards systematically due to the number of signboards that have been installed for a long time and frequently changing stores. In this study, we proposed a methodology for distinguishing signboards that deviated from the standard. To this end, the signboard was photographed using a stereo camera, and then the three-dimensional coordinates of the signboard were determined from the signboard image to calculate the signboard's horizontal and vertical dimensions to determine the signboard's specifications. In order to determine the interior and relative orientation parameters of the stereo camera, an outdoor three-dimensional building was used as the test field. Then, the image coordinates of four vertices of the signboard were extracted from the signboard image taken from about 15m ~ 22m distance using deep learning. After determining the signboard's three-dimensional coordinates by using the interior and relative orientation parameters of the stereo camera and the image coordinates of the four vertices of the signboard, the horizontal and vertical sizes of the signboard were calculated, resulting in an error of about 2.7cm on average. The specifications for the ten flat-type signboards showed that all of the horizontal sizes were compliant with the specifications, but the vertical sizes exceeded about 36.5cm on average. Through this, it was found that maintenance of flat-type signboards is needed overall.

  • Chroma key technique which composes images by separating an object from its background in specific color has restrictions on color and space. Especially, unlike general chroma key technique, image composition for stereo 3D display requires natural image composition method in 3D space. The thesis attempted to compose images in 3D space using depth keying method which uses high resolution depth information. High resolution depth map was obtained through camera calibration between the DSLR and Kinect sensor. 3D mesh model was created by the high resolution depth information and mapped with RGB color value. Object was converted into point cloud type in 3D space after separating it from its background according to depth information. The image in which 3D virtual background and object are composed obtained and played stereo 3D images using a virtual camera.

  • When a camera installed on a vehicle is used, estimation of the camera pose including tilt, roll, and pan angle with respect to the world coordinate system is important to associate camera coordinates with world coordinates. Previous approaches using huge calibration patterns have the disadvantage that the calibration patterns are costly to make and install. And, previous approaches exploiting multiple vanishing points detected in a single image are not suitable for automotive applications as a scene where multiple vanishing points can be captured by a front camera is hard to find in our daily environment. This paper proposes a camera pose estimation method. It collects multiple images of lane markings while changing the horizontal angle with respect to the markings. One vanishing point, the cross point of the left and right lane marking, is detected in each image, and vanishing line is estimated based on the detected vanishing points. Finally, camera pose is estimated from the vanishing line. The proposed method is based on the fact that planar motion does not change the vanishing line of the plane and the normal vector of the plane can be estimated by the vanishing line. Experiments with large and small tilt and roll angle show that the proposed method outputs accurate estimation results respectively. It is verified by checking the lane markings are up right in the bird's eye view image when the pan angle is compensated.

  • This paper proposes vehicle detection and tracking algorithm using a CCD camera. The proposed algorithm uses Haar-like wavelet edge detector to detect features of vehicle and estimates vehicle's location using calibration information of an image. After that, extract accumulated vehicle information in continuous k images to improve reliability. Finally, obtained vehicle region becomes a template image to find same object in the next continuous image using SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features). The template image is updated in the every frame. In order to reduce SURF processing time, ROI(Region of Interesting) region is limited on expended area of detected vehicle location in the previous frame image. This algorithm repeats detection and tracking progress until no corresponding points are found. The experimental result shows efficiency of proposed algorithm using images obtained on the road.

  • This paper discusses the design and implementation of a human-oriented interface based on computer vision that efficiently controls presentation slides. The user does not have to be confined to a keyboard or mouse any more, and can move around more freely because slides for presentation can be up and down using a general laser pointer that is used for presentation. Regions for virtual buttons are set on the slide so that the user can conveniently point the buttons using the laser pointer. We have proposed a simple and efficient method that computes the button areas in the image without complicated calibration. The proposed method has been implemented based on Microsoft PowerPoint ; moreover it can be applied to other PowerPoint-like presentation softwares. Our method for human-centered slide control enables the user to give audiences a more interactive presentation in a natural way.

  • For the construction of safe and clear urban environment, it is necessary that we identify the rubbish waste volume and we know the accuracy volume. In this paper, we proposed the algorithm computes the waste volume periodically for the way of waste repository standard. After stereo camera calibration, we obtained the point cloud on the surface of the object and took this as the input of the calculation algorithm of the object volume. We proposed the volume calculation algorithms based on the non-uniform triangular meshing methods and verified the validity of the algorithm through simulation and real experiments. The proposed algorithm can be used not only as the volume calculation of the waste repository but also as the general volume calculation of a three dimensional object.

This paper introduces a virtual screen system. which Is a new AR application for broadcasting. The virtual screen system is a real-time video augmentation system by tracking a chroma-patterned moving panel. We haute recently developed a virtual screen system.'K-vision'. Our system enables the user to hold and morse a simple panel on which live video, pictures of 3D graphics images can appear. All the Images seen on the panel change In the correct perspective, according to movements of the camera and the user holding the panel, in real-time. For the purpose of tracking janet. we use some computer vision techniques such as blob analysis and feature tracking. K-vision can work well with any type of camera. requiring no special add-ons. And no need for sensor attachments to the panel. no calibration procedures required. We are using K-vision in some TV programs such as election. documentary and entertainment.

  • 3D reconstruction is important issue in many applications such as Augmented Reality (AR), eXtended Reality (XR), and Metaverse. For 3D reconstruction, depth map can be acquired by stereo camera and time-of-flight (ToF) sensor. We used both sensors complementarily to improve the accuracy of 3D information of the data. First, we applied general multi-camera calibration technique which uses both color and depth information. Next, the depth map of the two sensors are fused by 3D registration and reprojection approach. The fused data is compared with the ground truth data which is reconstructed using RTC360 sensor. We used Geomagic Wrap to analysis the average RMSE of the two data. The proposed procedure was implemented and tested with real-world data.

  • This paper presents a camera calibration method in order to estimate the lane detection and inter-vehicle distance estimation system for an automotive safety driving system. In order to implement the lane detection and vision-based inter-vehicle distance estimation to the embedded navigations or black box systems, it is necessary to consider the computation time and algorithm complexity. The process of camera calibration estimates the horizon, the position of the car's hood and the lane width for extraction of region of interest (ROI) from input image sequences. The precision of the calibration method is very important to the lane detection and inter-vehicle distance estimation. The proposed calibration method consists of three main steps: 1) horizon area determination; 2) estimation of the car's hood area; and 3) estimation of initial lane width. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for precise detection of corner points on a coplanar checkerboard in order to perform stereo camera calibration using a single frame. Considering the conditions of automobile production lines where a stereo camera is attached to the windshield of a vehicle, this research focuses on a coplanar calibration methodology. To obtain the accurate values of the stereo camera parameters using the calibration methodology, precise localization of a large number of feature points on a calibration target image should be ensured. To realize this demand, the idea with respect to a checkerboard pattern design and the use of a Homography matrix are provided. The calibration result obtained by the proposed method is also verified by comparing the depth information from stereo matching and a laser scanner.
