The purpose of this study is to investigate elementary students' perception on science-related career and teachers' perception on science-related career education. The subjects of this study were 196 5^th and 6^th elementary students and 100 elementary teachers. The results show that 28% of the students desire to have science-related career. More Boys desire science-related careers than girls, and more students with higher level of perception in their science achievement also do than lower level students. The reason students did not desired science-related career were that they were not interested in science and did not have fun in science. Students' perceptions in the factors of science-related career choice were mostly negative except socio-cultural factors. The results of teacher's perception show that 42% of the teachers conducted science-related career education. A lot of teacher did not conduct science-related career education since they perceived the career education were not necessary or important. Students' negative perception on the factors of science-related career choice and the teachers' low perception on necessity of science-related career education can negatively influence students' science-related career choice. The more efforts were required in order to increase positive perception on science-related career.

Training SW talent can have a positive impact on social development by increasing the competitiveness of our society in the era of The 4th Industrial Revolution. In order to train SW talent, this study analyzed 436 students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade at B High School in S-si, Gyeonggi-do, how SW education is perceived by students, and how the timing of SW education affects students' SW-related career orientation. This study shows that the expansion of SW education in public education was necessary and groups which got an SW education since elementary school have higher career orientation related to SW than other groups. As a result, it could be inferred that getting SW education at an early stage had a positive impact on students' career orientation. Studies will be needed to analyze how SW education in the early stages works specifically on SW-related career orientation.

The purposes of this study were to develop vocational cards for elementary school children as a useful means to be applicable to elementary career counseling, to carry out a career counseling program by using vocational cards, and ultimately to determine the effect of the program on the career maturity of elementary schoolers. After job selection criteria were prepared in light of the characteristics of different occupations, changing business world and school children, how many number of vocational cards would be suitable for elementary schoolers was decided, and leading occupations were selected according to Holland classification in consideration of promising job list for the future, analysis of schoolbook and dream job among school children. And then what should be described on vocational card was determined, and their size was selected. Students who participated in the career counseling program based on vocational cards were significantly different in career maturity from others who didn't. To improve the reliability of quantitative approach, the students were asked to describe how they felt, and they made a positive assessment of the program as they found it to be interesting and of use for their understanding of themselves and business world. In conclusion, the vocational card for elementary middle-year students developed in this study catered to the career development stage of elementary schoolers, and the career counseling program using the vocational cards had a positive effect on enhancing the career maturity of children.

The study aimed to thoroughly observe the process of science-gifted students' career development from elementary to high school in Korea. Eighteen science high school students participated in this study. Data source was retrospective interviews with individuals. Results indicated that the inner factors influencing their career development included 'interest in science' and 'desire for deep understanding of science,' and 'ambition for taking a lead in society by means of science.' The outer factors included 'dissatisfaction with regular schooling,' 'social atmosphere to prefer special purpose high schools,' and 'in-depth educational programs beyond high school levels with brilliant peers.' These inner and outer factors have reacted upon each other in their career development. The implications for proper career development were discussed on the basis of the results.

The purpose of this study is to try to structuralize the perception of the mothers of science-gifted elementary students using the concept mapping approach. The mothers who participated in this research had children who were 5th and 6th graders selected as science-gifted by a regional education office, a science high school and two national universities in a city. One of the authors interviewed 26 mothers, and extracted 50 general statements of their perceptions about the career path of their children. Ten mothers who participated in interviews sorted a shuffled pack of statement cards. The categorization of the statements into the dissimilarity matrix was carried out by SPSS multidimensional scaling analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis to generate a conceptual diagram. After that 140 mothers rated each statement using a Likert-type response scale from one to five. The result showed six clusters of parental views such as were 'Burden of private education, grades and going to the next grade,' 'Thinking about career guidance in gifted education and school,' 'Parental roles in child career education,' 'Difficulties in career guidance at home,' 'Demand for strengthening the parental capacity for career guidance,' and 'Demand for social support.' 'Demand for social support' obtained the highest sympathy from mothers of elementary science gifted.

The purpose of this study is to improve career awareness of students by using visual thinking and SNS. In addition, parents' interest about their children 's career was increased, and career guidance suitable for the development stage of elementary school students' education was searched to find out the course appropriate for their aptitude and ability. The results of the comparative study showed that the experimental group had a significant effect on the opinions and attitudes toward career, information search and rational decision making, and knowledge on occupation. Research shows that career-based education using visual thinking and SNS has a positive effect of encouraging students' career awareness and positive attitude toward career search.

This study is to develop a web-based career guidance system to be a help making a decision on one's occupation, which is important for a person's life. As career development education for higher grades of elementary school aims at providing basic knowledge necessary for career choice and forming a basic attitude toward occupation and values, it is desirable to carry out the guidance of a variety of occupations on the basis of personal interest and aptitude of individual students. Previously, however, most studies have remained at the level where simply test results are notified. Therefore, the study administered a career development test fit for higher grades of elementary school who are at the stage of potential career choice and developed a web-based career guidance system in which suitable occupation types are advised of based on the results. Beyond notifying test results, the developed career guidance system presents 3 excellent intelligences, rather than converting test results into scores. Thus, it is expected that the system will help students understand their areas of excellent intelligence, efficiently study related occupation types and duties, and learn to have awareness and make a better decision in relation to their career.

This study have an intention of identifying multiple intelligence aptitude, career tendency and career maturity of verbal writing gifted students. 60 verbal writing gifted students who have achieved success in the writing contest were collected for this study. The data was selected through survey MI instruments from the students. The results are summarized as follow. First, verbal writing gifted students' MI profiles were revealed that linguistic intelligence, musical intelligence were strong, and logicalmathematical intelligence was weak. Second, many verbal writing gifted students showed strong musical career aptitude and strong linguistic career aptitude but few writing gifted students showed strong logical-mathematical aptitude. It was revealed that logical-mathematical interest had significant relationship with logical-mathematical achievement in the p-value<.01. Third, there were many linguistic career tendency students & interpersonal career tendency students. But there was no naturalist career tendency student. Musical career tendency, naturalist career tendency showed big differences between strong career aptitude and career tendency. Fourth, career maturity of verbal writing gifted student was very high. The finding can be explained that most of them have characteristics of early career maturity. Parents, teachers, specialists have to provide career information matching strong aptitude and aptitude improving education matching career tendency to the verbal writing gifted students to choose their career successfully.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of parent's accomplishment pressure and career guidance on children's career development. The subjects in this study were 59 six-graders in an elementary school. Added to this, this study was to understand the course of elementary school children's career development. For the study, research questions on influence of parent's accomplishment pressure and career guidance on children's career development were set up. The study showed three findings. First, there was significant correlations between parent's accomplishment pressure, and career guidance and children's career development. Parent's accomplishment pressure showed a positive correlation with career development and career guidance had a significant correlation with children's career development. The sub factors of career guidance, except for emotional support, were also significantly correlated with the sub factors of children's career development. Second, Parent's accomplishment pressure didn't show significant effect on fitness of career choice, sex-prejudice and pride, but showed significant effects on total career development, career directivity, career comprehension, self-comprehension and self- control. Third, parent's career guidance showed additional impact on children's career development. But emotional support, which is the sub-fact of career guidance, had no correlation with career development.
