  • The Lifestyle-DEPER (Decision, Execution, Personal Factors, Environment, Resources) model explains lifestyle formation. Lifestyles are shaped through the decision, execution, and habituation stages. Factors influencing the establishment of a lifestyle are categorized as environmental, resource, and personal. The environment encompasses our surroundings and social, physical, cultural, and virtual environments. Resources refer to what individuals possess, such as health, time, economic, and social resources. Personal factors include competencies, needs, and values. At the lifestyle establishment stage, each of these factors influences a different stage. These collective processes are referred to as events, encompassing both personal and social events. Health-related lifestyle factors include physical activity, nutrition, social relationships, and occupational participation. These are the goals of lifestyle intervention. The intervention strategy based on the Lifestyle-DEPER model, called KEEP (Knowledge, Evaluation, Experience, Plan), is a comprehensive approach to promoting a healthy lifestyle by considering lifestyle formation stages and their influencing factors. This study introduces the Lifestyle-DEPER model and presents a lifestyle intervention strategy (KEEP) to promote health. Further research is required to validate the practicality of the model after applying interventions based on the lifestyle construction model.

  • As population ageing and shrinking accompanied by dramatically expanded individual life expectancy and declining fertility rate is a global phenomenon, ageing becomes its broader perspective of ageing well embedded into sustained health and well-being, and also the fourth industrial revolution speeds up a more robust and inclusive view of smart ageing. While the latest paradigm of SA has gained considerable attention in the midst of sharply surging demand for health and social services and rapidly declining labor force, the definition has been widely and constantly discussed. This research is to constitute a conceptual framework of smart ageing (SA) from systematic literature review and the use of a series of secondary data and Geographical Information Systems(GIS), and to explore its components. The findings indicate that SA is considered to be an innovative approach to ensuring quality of life and protecting dignity, and identifies its constituents. Indeed, the construct of SA elaborates the multidimensional nature of independent living, encompassing three spheres - Aging in Place (AP), Well Aging (WA), and Active Ageing (AA). AP aims at maintaining independence and autonomy, entails safety, comfort, familiarity and emotional attachment, and it values social supports and services. WA assures physical, psycho-social and economic domains of well-being, and it concerns subjective happiness. AA focuses on both social engagement and economic participation. Moreover, the three constructs of SA are underpinned by specific elements (right to housing, income adequacy, health security, social care, and civic engagement) which are interrelated and interconnected.

The narrative of the film illustrates the problems of suffering for the elderly, such as poverty, disease, dementia, loneliness, and fear of death. In the face of the ultra-aged era, institutional supplementation measures for underprivileged senior citizens at the national level should be established, and social interest and safety nets should be secured, and specific retirement preparations are needed personally. Furthermore, support for research and education of old age preparation education programs and death education programs to prepare for retirement and death should be continuously provided.

  • This study investigates the effects of depression and self-esteem on elderly mental health, quality of life, and life satisfaction, considering South Korea's transition to a super-aged society by 2025. The research aims to propose integrated strategies for effective management of these factors. The findings reveal that depression and self-esteem significantly impact elderly mental health, quality of life, and life satisfaction. Increased depression is associated with decreased quality of life and life satisfaction, while higher self-esteem is linked to reduced depression. Additionally, a reduction in social relationships is found to exacerbate depression and diminish self-esteem. To enhance the quality of life and life satisfaction for the elderly, it is crucial to manage depression and self-esteem systematically and continuously. Thus, an integrated, nationwide approach is needed for effective management.

  • Companion animals are physically, mentally, and socially beneficial to humans, giving us great comfort in living in the Corona19 (COVID-19) era. It is also an era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, featuring the convergence of information and communication technology. Korea, which is facing a super-aged society, has the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, and companion animals that are effective in emotional stability can be the answer. This study is about companion animals that are effective in stabilizing the emotions of the elderly, one of the major problems in the Republic of Korea, which is about to solve in a super-aged society with more than 20 percent of the elderly aged 65 or older, needs to solve. The impact of knowledge of raising companion animals on the satisfaction level of the elderly was investigated through the management and awareness of infectious diseases. Although the level of care of companion animals had a very significant (p<0.001) effect on the satisfaction of the companion animals, the recognition of infectious diseases has no statistical significance (p>0.05). Raising companion animals with knowledge of rearing increases the satisfaction level and can lead to a happier life. While personal learning is important, it is also believed that supporting education will be necessary as a policy consideration.

  • The social activities of the elderly are important in successfully achieving aging by providing opportunities for social interaction to enhance life satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to identify the related factors of the elderly social activities and build a statistical classification model to predict social activities. Subjects were 1,864 elderly people (829 males, 1,035 females) who completed the community health survey in 2015. Outcome variables were defined as the experience of social activity during the past month(yes, no). The prediction model was constructed using decision tree model based on Classification and Regression Trees (CRT) algorithm. The results of this study were subjective health, frequency of meeting with neighbors, frequency of meeting with relatives, and living with spouse were significant variables of social participation. The most prevalent predictor was the subjective health level. In order to prepare for the successful aging of the super aged society based on the results of this study, social attention and support for the social activities of the elderly are required.
