Phase noise spectrum distributions of signal generators for next-generation VSAT satellite system based on DVB-RCS2 were analyzed in this paper. The forward link of VSAT system utilizes the APSK higher-order modulation methods based on the DVB-S2 ACM, the modulation methods of the return link utilizes the higher-order PSK and QAM based on the DVB-RCS2. In digital satellite system using the higher-order modulation techniques, the phase noise have an effect on transmission performance, the transmission performance is dominantly degraded by the phase noise of signal generators in the transmission system. The phase noise spectrum distribution of signal generators are analyzed by considering the ACM conditions that adopts the modulation techniques and data rates due to satellite transmission environment. The proper phase noise spectrum distribution for next-generation VSAT system based on DVB-RCS2 are proposed from the analyzed phase noise spectrum characteristics.
This paper describes a new on-board computer design for the next generation satellite. The new on-board computer utilizes centralized processing architecture with MCMERC325C CPU based on functional modular design concepts. The on-board computer consists of PM32 Module, TC-TM Module, IO Module and Power module. The IEEE-1355 DS/DE, or SpaceWire, provides a standard communication interface between module. It also provides simple cross-strap design for redundancy management and increases re-usability of the modules.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is one of the core technologies for the 4th Industrial Revolution, and its importance is increasingly highlighted in the next generation communications and smart mobility requiring the accurate location information. As the development of the high-performance/high-precesion GNSS technology makes it possible to obtain the more accurate locations information, the location based products and systems, which provide the high-quality service, are being researched/developed. In this paper, we present the results of a survey on the recent research trends and examples, utilizing GNSS technology in fields of the next generation communications and smart mobility, and analyzes the results.

Currently developing the OBC of the next-generation LEO satellite by Korea Aerospace Research Institute adopts the LEON2-FT/AT697F processor to achieve high performance. And various communication devices such as SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553B, DMAUART and CAN Master are integrated to the separated standard communication FPGAs within the OBC, where they can be controlled by the processor and flight software (FSW) through PCI interface. The Actel 1553BRM IP core is used for the 1553B in the next-generation LEO OBC and the B1553BRM wrapper from Aeroflex Gaisler is used for connecting it to the AMBA bus in FPGA. This paper presents the design and development of PCI-based 1553B communication software, and describes the handling mechanism of 1553B operation in FSW task level. Also it shows the test results on real-hardware and simulator.
According to the success of the Nuri Space Launch Vehicle (KSLV-II) and the development goal of the next generation space launch vehicle (KSLV-III), it is expected that the domestic geostationary satellite capability will be increased from (1 to 3.7) ton. Also, it is predicted that substantial ability of about 1 ton can be provided for the space exploration of the Moon, Mars, asteroids, etc. The Goheung space launch site is optimized for sun-synchronous small satellites, and due to the essential precondition that the launch trajectory does not impinge another country's sovereign airspace, it is not satisfactory as a geostationary satellite launching site. Its latitude also requires more energy to shape the rotating orbital plane from the initial injection status. This results in a decreasing factor of economic feasibility, including the operating complexity. Therefore, in parallel with the development of a next generation space launch vehicle, the practical process for acquisition of oversea land or sea space launch site near the Earth's equator and research for the optimization of orbiting methods of geostationary satellite injection must be continued.

These days, satellite core technologies are being developed as a way to provide various information by considering simultaneously sending, wide area covering, highly precide, and anti-disaster technologies. Not only global positioning, and image but also space launcher, satellite bus, satellite payload, earth station are being convergently developed in a different technological field. Especially, it is required a lot of initial investing expenditure to provide the Earth observational information service based on the space technologies. Such a trend and change of satellite technologies Korea has realized the necessity for the domestic independent development of next generation earth observation satellites, and are preparing the profound items such as a detailed implementation plan for the efficient development project. Like the satellite advanced countries, it should be transparently carried out that an efficient implementation of the developing target related to the geostationary earth observation satellite development, establishment of technological auditing function and quality assurance system, implementation plan, progressing courses and results of the satellite development program by way of planning, evaluation and management. For these things cited above, it is necessary to operate systematically and continuously the professional structural system by the governmental department in order to control the geostationary earth observation satellite development project. Therefore, this study proposes a development project management improvement method of the Korea next generation geostationary earth observation satellite based on the development project management system of the domestic geostationary satellite system.

In order to verify normal operation of satellite OBC(On Board Computer), it is essential that processor monitoring and debugging. So we are using the GRMON of Aeroflex Gaisler. It provides a lot of features for debugging of LEON processor but we can't use that features on the NGSCB(Next Generation Spacecraft Computer Board) except a few things. So the cost-effectiveness is very low. And for hardware fault injection, we are using a method of modify satellite flight software, because we can't modify GRMON. This method can not guarantee normal operation of the satellite flight software. So in this paper we were developed the processor monitoring and fault injection tool for NGSCB.

In satellites, even a small error in flight software could cause a failure of missions. Therefore, there are strict development and verification processes for a high reliability of flight software. However, satellites on orbits could meet unexpected situations including hardware malfunction. In this case, it is necessary for flight software to be updated to cope with the unexpected situations and to continue their missions. This paper reviews reprogramming capability of next generation LEO satellites.

As the information age comes out, the aspect of future war brings about the many changes in terms of war-fighting environment. Accordingly, information superiority and intelligence-centric warfare have been important and new war-fighting concept such as NCW(network centric warfare) have been turned up. This paper proposed all-weather core-strategy communications systems guaranteeing not only the real-time transmission of the information collected in a battlefield and expansion, automation, and rapidity of a battlefield but also broadband, mobility, survivability, and flexibility. The proposed military satellite communications system is classified into wideband mass capacity link, survivability, and the system supporting OTM(on the move) communication for the real-time transmission of battlefield information. This paper analyzed the essential operation concepts and core schemes of the U.S. Army's next generation system, TSAT(Transformational Satellite Communication System). Base on the analysis results, this paper proposed that the architecture of next generation military satellite communications systems for NCW have to provide the data rate, anti-jamming capability, network control and management capability which are optimally adaptable for the wireless channel environments such as jamming and interference and to support the variety of platforms like high-speed mobile vehicles, micromini devices, super-high speed unmanned aerial vehicles. Finally, this paper also proposed that next generation military satellite communications systems need the technologies such as the adaptable multi-antenna, laser link, and next-generation anti-jamming waveform.
