  • We investigate the current situation and development trend of domestic smart city and emergency vehicle priority signal control system analyzing the existing effectiveness of 1) emergency vehicle priority signal control system and 2) control emergency vehicle priority signal, based on domestic and foreign prior research for signal control system security. The effectiveness of time reduction was analyzed through actual application and test operation to emergency vehicles after establishing the system. In addition, for security management and stable service of real-time signal system control we propose improvement for the technical control items of the ISMS-P certification system to secure golden time to protect citizens' precious lives and property in case of emergency by classifying and mapping the existing ISMS-P certification system and the Korea Internet & Security Agency's cyber security guide according to the items of security threats.

  • The tilting train is able to tilt its body towards the center of the turning radius, preventing roll-over of the train as it runs on a curved rail at high-speed. This train, widely accepted for commercial purpose internationally, is very beneficial in that the operating time is shortened without much capital investment to the infrastructure where there are many curved rails. Over several years, the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) has developed such a train. In this paper, the safety of the Korean tilting train express (TTX) is investigated using a dynamic simulation model. Since proper safety standards have not been established for the TTX, those for the Korean train express (KTX) is employed to analyze the safety and ride comfort of the TTX. This study is useful in predicting the behavior of the TTX and ride comfort, and conforms that designed TTX is stable enough to satisfy the safety standards. It would be useful to recommend proper normal operating speed and determine the maximum safety speed, according to the result. Furthermore, it would be possible to provide basic reference data when analyzing the dynamic effect of the catenary system and the fatigue of the bogie.

  • Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is one of technologies to realize various ITS services for safe driving and efficient traffic control. However, data delivery in VANETs is complicated due to high mobility and unreliable wireless transmission. In this paper, we develop a novel forwarding scheme to deliver packets in a reliable and timely manner. The proposed forwarding scheme uses traffic statistics to predict the encounter of two vehicles, and optimize its forwarding decision by taking into consideration the probability of successful transmission between them at the encounter place. We evaluate our scheme through simulations and show that our proposed scheme provides reliable data delivery in VANETs.

  • In this paper, we present a speech enhancement method as a pre-processor for voice commander under car environment. For the friendly and safe use of voice commander in a running car, non-stationary audio signals such as music and non-candidate speech should be reduced. Ow technique is a two microphone-based one. It consists of two parts Blind Source Separation (BSS) and Kalman filtering. Firstly, BSS is operated as a spatial filter to deal with non-stationary signals and then car noise is reduced by kalman filtering as a temporal filter. Algorithm Performance is tested for speech recognition. And the results show that our two microphone-based technique can be a good candidate to a voice commander.

  • Recently, the use of electronic control units in vehicle has increased. The ECUs are connected to in vehicle networks to process a large amount of information. In this paper, for an actuator that is interconnected to CAN and FlexRay, a FlexRay-CAN gateway is presented and a data packing algorithm with a bisection method of a FlexRay slot is proposed. And, a network based actuator control system and packing map is implemented. With the proposed packing method, contact force sensor data are transferred within the maximum allowed delay to ensure the stability. The proposed method is useful for control of distributed system.

  • It is known that tire plays an important role to the dynamic performances of a vehicle such as noise, vibration, ride and handling. Therefore, force and moment measurements have been a part of the traditional tire engineering process. In this paper, a computational analysis technique has been explored. A FE model is made to simulate inflation, vertical load due to the vehicle weight, and the slow rolling of a radial tire. A rigid surface with Coulomb friction is included in the model to simulate the slow rolling contact. The tire slip during the in-plane motion of the rigid surface is calculated. Results are presented for both lateral and vertical loads, as well as straight ahead free rolling. The calculated and measured tire slips are in good correlation.

  • The 'gate non-stop system utilizing RFID (900MHz)', which is the core of this research, is the system which connects RFID to recognize the vehicle information without stopping when a vehicle (trailer) passes a gate to carry in or out containers in a terminal and automatically provides the container information provided by the terminal for the RFLDU device installed in the vehicle. In order to design and implement this, the RFID technical section uses a UHF band (900MHz) RFID tag and a reader and implements a RFID middleware and an application program for smooth data collection and execution (operation). In addition, the system stability was verified through experiments and operations of the system implemented in this research at real harbors/quays, and based on the verified result, the maximization of vehicle (trailer) and terminal productivity and the reduction of distribution cost are expected.

  • For a autonomous parking of unmanned car, this paper proposes a posture regulation algorithm of a car-like mobile robot, which is supported by a docking formation and a feedback linearization control law. Unlike the previous researches based on a path-planning and optimization algorithms, the autonomous car implemented the proposed autonomous parking algorithm can be parked without much computational burden and a high performance processor. Stability of the proposed docking formation and feedback linearization control law are analyzed and performance of the proposed algorithm is shown by implementing to the simulations with six scenarios and an actual car in the experiment place.
