Selecting Technique of Accident Sections using K-mean Method (K-평균법을 이용한 고속도로 사고분석구간 분할기법 개발)

  • A selection of the analysis section for traffic accidents is used to analyze definitely the cause of accidents sorting similar accidents by a group and to raise the effect of improvement projects deciding the priority of accidents. In the existing method, an uniformly dividing method based on road mileages has been used, which has no consideration for similarities among accidents. Consequently, in recent, a slider-length method considering accident types rather than road mileages is widely used. In this study, using K-mean method, a non-hierarchical grouping technique used in the Cluster Analysis ai a applicatory method for the slider length method, a method classifies accidents that occurred the most nearby mileages into one group is proposed. To verify the proposed method, a comparison between the f-mean method and the dividing method at regular intervals on the data of a total of 25.6km lengths along Kyung-bu freeway in Pusan direction was made so that the K-mean method was proved to an effective method considering the similarities and adjacencies of accidents.

Analysis on Creative Thinking Leaning Between Scientifically Gifted Students and Normal Students (과학영재와 일반학생들의 창의적 사고 편향에 대한 분석)

  • This study is to investigate the creative thinking style and it's leaning that normal students and scientifically gifted students use mainly at processing information. Right Brain vs Left Brain Creativity Test(R/LCT) and Brain Preference Indicator(BPI) is taken to investigate the creative thinking style of normal students(N=144) and scientifically gifted students(N=97). In the R/LCT, the normal students responded that they prefer to use right-brain thinking rather than left-brain thinking. But the scientifically gifted students prefer to left-brain thinking. The normal students showed most preference for Holistic Processing of right side brain and they did most avoiding for Verbal Processing of left side brain. The scientifically gifted students showed most preference for Logical Processing of left side brain. And they did most avoiding for Random Processing of right side brain. There was a meaningful difference between left side brain preference group and right side brain preference group on Sequential, Symbolic, Logical, Verbal, Random, Intuitive, Fantasy-oriented Processing of normal Students. But the scientifically gifted students showed a meaningful difference in right side brain processing mainly. In other word, all the scientifically gifted students took an lean processing in Logical, Symbolic, Linear Processing, etc. In sum, the scientifically gifted students are unequal in at processing information against the normal students. So it is required more appropriate teaching-learning method based on the creative thinking style and it's leaning for effective gifted education.

The Impact of Perceived Brand Globalness on Brand Attributes Evaluation: focusing on the Moderating Role of Thinking Style about Causality (소비자의 브랜드 글로벌성 인식이 브랜드 속성 평가에 미치는 영향: 인과관계에 대한 사고방식의 조절역할을 중심으로)

  • The study examined moderating role of thinking style about causality in the relationship between the perceived brand globalness(PBG) and the brand evaluation. Thinking style about causality is divided into interactionism and dispositionism. Individualism culture shows a tendency of thinking style about causality to dispositionism, and collectivist cultures shows a tendency for interactionism. We conducted a survey on Korean college students who represent collectivist cultures and foreign students from countries of individualistic culture and analyzed data through structural equation modeling. Analysis result showed that the higher the respondents perceived PBG, the higher they perceived brand quality, brand quality, and brand price. However, it showed that PBG has greater positive effects on perceived brand quality and perceived brand reputation among Korean students than students from individualistic cultures. On the other hand, the effects of PBG on perceived brand price did not show any significant difference between Korean students and students from individualist cultures. Thus, we can conclude that thinking style about causality plays a moderating role in the relationship between PBG and perceived brand quality and brand reputation, while it does not do so between PBG and perceived brand price.

How the Science Gifted Connect and Integrate Science Concepts in the Process of Problem Finding (과학영재들이 문제발견 과정에서 나타내는 과학개념 연결방식과 융합적 사고의 특징)

  • The study aimed to investigate how the science gifted connect and integrate science concepts in the process of problem finding. Research subject was sampled from 228 applicants for a science gifted education center affiliated with a university in 2015. A creative problem solving test (CPST) in science, which administered as an admission process, was utilized as a reference to sample two groups. Sixty-seven students from top 30% in test scores were selected for the upper group and 64 students from bottom 30% in test scores were selected for the lower group. The CPST, which was developed by researchers, included one item about how to connect two science concepts among eight science concepts, sound, electricity, weight, temperature, respiration, photosynthesis, weather, and earthquake extracted from elementary science curriculum. As results, there were differences in choosing two concepts among four science major areas. The ways of connecting science concepts were characterized by three categories, relation-based, similarity-based, and dissimilarity-based. In addition, relation-based was characterized by attributes, means, influences, predictions, and causes; similarity-based was by attributes, objects, scientific principles, and phenomena, and dissimilarity-based was by parallel, resource, and deletion. There were significant (p<.000) differences in ways of connecting science concepts between the upper and the lower groups. The upper group students preferred connecting science concepts of inter-science subjects while the lower group students preferred connecting science concepts of intra-science subject. The upper group students showed a tendency to connect the science concepts based on similarity. In contrast, the lower group students frequently showed ways of connecting the science concepts based on dissimilarity. In particular, they simply parallelled science concepts.

Analysis on the Earth Science Concepts of the Gifted Science Students and Non-gifted students By the Type of Thinking Styles (과학영재학생과 일반학생의 사고양식에 따른 지구과학 개념 비교)

  • On the basis of Sternberg's theory of mental self-government, this examined the difference in thinking style between gifted science students and non-gifted students, and their earth science concepts by the different types of thinking styles. The subjects were consisted of 120 students from the Busan Science Academy and 122 students from two general high schools in Busan, Korea. All participants responded to the Thinking Styles Inventory which is a self-report test consisting of 65 items, and essay questions for examining the students' earth science concepts. The results are as follows. First, the gifted science students prefer legislative, judical, anarchic, global, and liberal styles, where non-gifted students prefer executive, oligarchic, and conservative styles. Second, Type I thinking style group prove to have more complex concepts in relation to the geological and astronomical areas than those of the Type II thinking style group in both of the gifted and non-gifted students. This indicates that Type I thinking style students use a deep learning approach where Type II thinking style students use a surface learning approach.

부산 남외항 대기 정박지 운영 개선을 위한 연구

  • 부산항 입항 및 출항 대기, 통과 선박의 중간 기항지로 이용되는 부산 남외항 대기 정박지는 N-1~N-5으로 구성되며 현재, 최대 90척이 동시에 정박 가능한 집단 정박지 지정방식으로 지정되어 있다. 부산 남외항 대기 정박지는 입 출항 선박 및 통과 선박, 급유선 등의 교통에 따른 충돌, 접촉 등의 해양 사고와 갑작스러운 돌풍 등 기상악화에 따른 충돌, 접촉 및 좌초 등의 해양 사고가 발생하고 있다. 부산 남외항 대기 정박지의 자연 환경, 이용현황, 기상, 입 출항 선박 및 통과 선박의 교통 흐름을 종합적으로 살펴보고 부산 남외항 대기 정박지에서 발생하는 해양사고를 분석하였다. 따라서 부산 남외항 대기 정박지의 운영상의 문제점을 찾고, 해상교통조사 설문조사 이론적 근거를 기초로 안전도 평가 시스템을 사용하여, 향후 개선방향을 제시하였다.

  • 최근 학문간 융합을 통한 STEAM 융합인재교육에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. STEAM 교육은 과학, 기술, 공학, 예술 그리고 수학의 학문 영역을 유기적으로 융합하여 차세대 학습자들이 미래 사회에 필요한 핵심역량을 높일 수 있도록 하는 교육방식이다. 국가적인 차원에서 창의적인 융합인재를 위한 미래형 과학기술 교육을 중요하게 여기고 있으며, 과학기술 교육 패러다임에 변화를 기대하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 융합형 인재양성을 위한 집단지성 기반의 STEAM 교육 방안을 연구하고, 학습자의 과학기술에 대한 흥미와 이해를 높이고 융합적 사고와 문제해결 능력을 배양하기 위한 지능로봇 교육과정을 제시한다. 또한 집단 학습자들 간의 교육 적용 사례를 소개하고, 학습자의 만족도 분석을 통하여 검증하였다. 향후 본 연구의 결과로 집단 학습자의 학습 성취도를 향상시키고, 융합형 과학기술 인재양성 교육방안으로 발전하기를 기대한다.

The Effect of Physics Instruction Using Infographics Based on Visual Thinking in High School (고등학교에서 시각적 사고에 기반한 인포그래픽 활용 물리 수업의 효과)

  • In this study, we tried to find the effects of carrying out infographics instruction based on visual thinking with the infographics materials presented in physics textbooks targeting specialized vocational high school students. Thus, 60 students were divided into the experimental group and the control group, the experimental group had 25 classes composed of 'infographics concept formation, infographics understanding activity, and infographics configuration activity', on the other hand, the control group were instructed by lecture-type class. The results of this study are as follows: First, features of the infographics created by the students include changes in types of presentation from 'simple arrangement' to 'simple reconfiguration' and from 'illustration' to 'comparative analysis', which were made by the visual thinking of the students activated in accordance with the increase of their configuration times. Second, instruction by using infographics, visual thinking significantly improved in the level of understanding, visibility, usability, and communicability. Third, after instruction using infographics, the mean score of the experimental group's achievement significantly improved. Fourth, there was a significant improvement in the area of 'normality of scientist, attitude on scientific inquiry, and scientific attitude' in the test of attitudes toward science. From the analysis results, we could conclude that instruction using infographics enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts and communication capability by improving visual thinking abilities, which have a positive impact on academic achievement and attitudes toward science.

The Recognition Characteristics of Science Gifted Students on the Earth System based on their Thinking Style (과학 영재 학생들의 사고양식에 따른 지구시스템에 대한 인지 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze recognition characteristics of science gifted students on the earth system based on their thinking style. The subjects were 24 science gifted students at the Science Institute for Gifted Students of a university located in metropolitan city in Korea. The students' thinking styles were firstly examined on the basis of the Sternberg's theory of mental self-government. And then, the students were divided into two groups: Type I group(legislative, judicial, global, liberal) and Type II group(executive, local, conservative) based on Sternberg's theory. Data was collected from three different type of questionnaires(A, B, C types), interview, word association method, drawing analyses, concept map, hidden dimension inventory, and in-depth interviews. The findings of analysis indicated that their thinking styles were characterized by 'Legislative', 'Executive', 'Anarchic', 'Global', 'External', 'Liberal' styles. Their preference were conducting new projects and using creative problem solving processes. The results of students' recognition characteristics on earth system were as follows: First, though the two groups' quantitative value on 'System Understanding' was very similar, there were considerable distinctions in details. Second, 'Understanding the Relationship in the System' was closely connected to thinking styles. Type I group was more advantageous with multiple, dynamic, and recursive approach. Third, in the relation to 'System Generalization' both of the groups had similar simple interpretational ability of the system, but Type I group was better on generalization when 'hidden dimension inventory' factor was added. On the system prediction factor, however, students' ability was weak regardless of the type. Consequently, more specific development strategies on various objects are needed for the development and application of the system learning program. Furthermore, it is expected that this study could be practically and effectively used on various fields related to system recognition.
